Can someone explain ordination in the Bible with priests and high priest and why it was in the OT?

Very briefly...there is no direct connection. The old Hebrew religion had priests who offered animal sacrifice for sins, and they were all chosen from one of the Jewish tribes. But the coming of Christ and a new church changed that. In the Christian religion, the use of the word "priest" comes (in the English language) from a corruption of the Biblical term for a minister/pastor--the presbyter.

"ordination" ?

Do you know what I would do? I would go to a Jewish (Judaism) site like Chabad.org or Messiah Truth (countermissionary site) someone like Uri or R. Daniel in the General Judaism forum and ask them. Don't argue, preach, or proselytize. Just ask the question, telling them that you are just seeking information, and thank them for their response. They love to teach. But to get the information, you have to stay in your lane.

Call their bible the Tanach at their sites. Not the OT, because to them OT is degrading.

btw, knowing what the Jews think is critical to understanding the end times.

Revelation 1:6 & revelation 5:10 are most certainly NOT a Corruption of the Biblical Term for minister/presbyter
1:6
And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen
.
5:10
And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

Nor is 1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

In the Rev 5:10 passage, the greek word used is hiereis which means "Priest".
It is the word used over and over in the NT to describe the OT Priests.

(See: Matthew 12:5. Mark 2:26, Luke 6:4, John 1:19, Hebrews 9:6, etc..)

In the 1 Peter 2:9 passage, the word is hierateuma, which of course, contains the root, hier, the same used in hiereis, which quite plainly is, Priest.

Therefore, the Christian usage of the term prist is derrived from the NT use of the literal term Priest, and can by no means be said to be a corruption of Minister/Presbyter.

The governmental structure of the New Israel is related to the Divine and historic government that existed before it. Bishops/shepherds were common names given to Israel's tribal leadership. So also "elder" was a common office of leadership over Israel. There were the kings of the monarchy, and there were prime ministers in Israel, second in command only to the reigning monarch. In a word, Israel always had a divinely instituted government, and this government was re-constututed under the New Covenant King in the first century. In the granting of the "Keys" to Peter (Matt 16:18-19/Isa 22:15-25), the appointment of the new 12 patriarchs (Matt 19:28; 10:1-4; Rev 21:12-14), and the ordination of bishops/elders and deacons, Jesus re-created Israel under the terms and conditions of the New Covenant order. Christ re-instituted the familiar leadership offices from Israel's history, and established the Twelve who expanded the Bishopric/Episcopate for New Israel. They went about ordaining men to offices in every city by the laying on of hands, and commissioned those appointees to continue this same practice also by the laying on of hands (a cardinal NT doctrine according to Hebrews 6:1-2). The establishment of the authorized bishopric can be traced throughout the New Testament scriptures, and is especially highlighted in Acts and the letters to the Bishops Titus and Timothy. The authorized government of New Israel is evidenced in Holy Scripture, and was maintained from Clement, Ignatius, Irenaeus and those that followed.

With respect, no one doubted the God Given authority of Peter and his successors until after the 1500s. The early Christians believed it and taught it. As they all understood, Jesus gave His own keys of the Kingdom to Peter (Mt 16:18-19), and the power this conferred upon Peter is detailed at Isaiah 22:15-24, when the O.T. kings gave the keys to their prime ministers.

No, that (a corruption of the Biblical term presbyter) IS the reason for Christians to be using the word "priest," although it's also used more loosely to refer to the worship leader in almost any religion.

However, after writing my post, I thought that this wasn't what our friend was asking in the original post anyway. :)

Why would you tell a Christian to go to a site run by non-Christian unbelievers to find truth? They can't be trusted in their understanding of ANYTHING in the Old Testament because it's all about Jesus, who they deny.

That is utter nonsense. Unbelieving Jews have no clue about what scripture teaches about end times. This shows how carnal you are. Spiritual discernment from the Holy Spirit is critical to understanding all scripture, including end times scripture.

1 Corinthians 2:12 What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. 14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

It is about expanding one's knowledge base.

In understanding others, it helps to be a good listener.

They believe that their messiah will show in the end times and bring about world peace. Which by knowing what they believe, it is easy to understand how they will be deceived by the Antichrist for a short while.

Why would anyone trust what they have to say when they don't even recognize that Jesus is the Messiah? You were telling someone to go to a site run by non-Christian unbelieving Jews to find out information about what the Bible teaches about a certain thing. That is not something you should recommend.

That's a different context than what I had an issue with. If someone wants to go there just to learn about how they understand things in order to know how to have a dialogue with them, I'm fine with that. But, no one should go there for help in understanding scripture. That's the point I was intending to make.

That's correct. And I can give my advice on what to do with your advice as well. So, I did. And, with that, I'm done with this thread.
