May I ask about this passage.... What does it mean? What is it about?

Luke 8:22-25
New International Version

22 One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out. 23 As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.

24 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!”

He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. 25 “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples.

In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”

I take it literally. A demonstration of His power to his apostles. He is God. ‘If I had not done among them the works that none other man did, they had not sin. But now they have seen and hated both me and my Father.’

As the disciples asked, " Who is it that can stop a stop instantly!"

You have a choice to accept what is written or to reject what is written.

There is no middle ground.

Jesus made that very clear in John ch 3, verses 18.

I agree that it is about Jesus performing an extraordinary miracle to show His disciples who He was.

There is another possible thing about it. Some say that Satan raised the storm to block Him from going to a certain place where a man was demon possessed with "Legion". It's the place they went immediately after the storm event. Satan is said to have that kind of power to some extent, since in the book of Job, he is allowed by God to bring up a gale wind that blows a wall down on Job's children.

Then that would add to the proof of Jesus' Messiahship, since He did both things - stilled the storm, and cast out the strongest demons of the area.

jesus fell a sleep in a boat, while he and his companions were trying to cross the lake, and the wind and rain got so bad these fishermen/ men who lived on boats all their lives thought they were all going to die. they they woke jesus. he got up and yelled at the water and sky to be still.. and the wind and rain stopped. then asks them where is their faith?

That's a nice summary, but what is the meaning... What is this supposed to teach us? Is it the presentation of a piece of history, presenting a miraculous event... or is there also a lesson in how to go through life... Is the storm literal, or could it also be symbolic?
Is getting cancer a storm?
Suffering with depression a storm?
Losing a child a storm?
A relationship breaking down?

Is Jesus giving us the example of finding peace in the midst of the 'storm'? And was the storm outside the boat or inside the hearts of the frightened fishermen?

that... if your in the boat with jesus, even if he seems asleep and not doing anything, even if your whole world is about to come to a violent end. Have faith whatever happens he will see you through, as in this instance with a word everything came to a abrupt end.

yup

yup. a storm can be anything that disrupts your day, can even threaten or take life or your way of living.

the storm was real. the lesson is the same as i said. if jesus is in your boat do not fear the storms. maybe ask him not to stop the storm but rather help you navigate it so you can grow.

It teaches us that even the wind and the waves obey Jesus, his authority is not one of a mere man, but divine.
