Love within a marriage is a shadow of Christ and His people. He not only died on that cross but He comforts us with His very presence. The new covenant is the mark of that relationship. He has written His vows in our hearts that we may know Him intimately. We choose to come baring our souls naked before Him and become one with His Spirit, as a man and woman would become one flesh.
Born again in spirit, through His pierced side, in His very image, as Eve was from Adam, a spirit of His Spirit we are. He calls us His bride, His Jerusalem, His dwelling place. Leaving our everything, betrothed to Christ in spirit, to know Him intimately. It is they that bear the fruits of the spirit as He removes the heart of stone and gives us a heart of flesh- of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. He is our last Adam and we are His.
And Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived. Genesis 4:1
I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall not teach, each one his neighbor and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord, for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. Hebrews 8:10-12
Steadfast love and faithfulness meet; righteousness and peace kiss each other. Psalms 85:10
For the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife had made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. Revelation 19:7-8
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Revelation 21:2
For as a young man marries a young woman, so shall your sons marry you, and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you. Isaiah 62:5
Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem, Thus says the Lord, “I remember the devotion of your youth, your love as a bride, how you followed me in the wilderness, in a land not sown. Jeremiah 2:2
The two shall become one flesh. This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. Ephesians 5:31-32
