When it comes to Jewish history and the events of their ancient past, one extremely important fact is being left out. "The earth is Jehovah's, and the fulness thereof; The world, and they that dwell therein" Psalm 24:1. It wasn't Moses who decided that specific geographic region belonged to him. "Behold, I [God] have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which Jehovah sware unto your fathers" Deuteronomy 1:8.

Quoting cherry picked Bible verses to justify occupying a land is not right. You're missing the background and context of the whole book. I can also quote from the Bible that says otherwise.

Matthew 3:9 And do not think you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.

Jeremiah 2:7 And I brought you into a rich land to eat its fruit and its good things. But you came and made My land unclean. You made the land I gave you sinful and hated.

Someone not willing to sell someone iced cream seems like the epitome of a first world problem...

First world terrorism?

Ice cream is a serious issue ok. I can attest to it. At least my ex-gf seems to think so. :sorry:

But in all seriousness, it is merely rhetoric. Since the day's of Bibi they have use such language. It is very common in the region to use hyperbolic and bombastic language to send a message over.

I think youre wildly exaggerating B&J influence on the course of events and opinions here. Also, opposition to advancing occupation by Israel is hardly "extreme". Obviously there's are plenty of extremists in the mix, but that opinion isnt the litmus test.

Well of course B&J alone is not going to swing anything. But they do contribute to the issue. You know well extremists will use every bit of positive event to their advantage. It takes very little to spark a wildfire of human tragedy over there. One I pray will never happen again. Who knows what the last preverbal straw will be?

Mainly I see B/J type people as earnestly trying to serve 2 masters - commerce and conscience - and sometimes making a hash of it.

I highly doubt B&J has a conscience or ever did. To me the motto of being a social justice company is a brand identifier not a statement of morality. What makes most money is the motto. And social justice is hot in the west now.

Over in Asia B&J is nothing more but a run of the mill company that complies strictly to local laws and customs. Even if the laws & customs contradict their stands. You won't see them criticizing the Thai King about abusing his powers nor will they speak out on behalf of the anti LGBT laws in Malaysia.

I'm just glad this nonsense was spouted off now instead of a couple of years ago... if a boycott amounts to a "terrorist attack," a Twitter ban might have inspired certain administrations to send in the troops...

I feel like it's fair to critisize hyperbole.

Especially on serious topics.

Weird that an Israeli president of all people would categorize an ice cream company pull-out along with, say, the massacre of Israeli athletes in Munich

I suppose it depends on whether one values money as the equivalent to the lives of one's citizens.

It isn't...unless you are so lacking in understanding of how multinationals work that you think wholly owned subsidiaries like this can make PR affecting marketing decisions without head office approval.

It's also not pedantic, given the emphasis the OP put on "American".

Let's just be honest, all these big corporations lack loyalty to any nation, even when acting as state sponsored cartels.

Honest and obvious -- they go where they can make money; that's literally the only reason for their existence.

we already took it all.
The claim being made by you
Quoting cherry picked Bible verses .
It strikes me that the cherry picking of the royal we and other points being made by yourselves as a response to being confronted and seeing the point, that it actually was the defeated nations who were trying to conquer land and not Israel. Gives the impression that you don't know a justifiable response to it.

Blizzard: "We want women shaping the future"

Activision Blizzard Sued Over ‘Frat Boy’ Culture, Harassment (1)

Another company, Blizzard Entertainment that over the past decade like to virtue signal about inclusiveness being absolutely hypocritical. But this rabbit hole is absolutely horrid. What I read about the lawsuit actually makes me angry and sad all at the same time.

I grew up having fond memories about playing Blizzard games especially Warcraft 1 to 3, Diablo 1 & 2 and Starcraft. Great times with schoolmates (who end up being lifelong friends) having multiplayer sessions. A game company I really used look up to. I might not have played their more recent games but what I had played before I enjoyed them.

This is the deal breaker. The preverbal last straw on the camel's back. Blitzchung debacle eroded my respect to near zero. This.... this is the event that drives it to negative.

From what I've heard from friends who've worked at Activision studios, none of this surprises me.

I grew up on games by Blizzard, Lost Vikings and Rock 'n' Roll Racing for the SNES, Warcraft, Starcraft. I played WoW off and on between 2005 and 2014.

So I find this deeply disheartening, disgusting, and it only adds to the fact that I believe Blizzard as a company, after its acquisition by Activition especially, to have fallen significantly. Blizzard has done some shady things in the past, such as the Blitzchung controversy you mentioned. That killed whatever residual respect I still had for the company; and so revelation of these allegations simply adds to my dislike of Blizzard at this point.

I'm not sure, however, how this at all is comparable to B&J no longer selling ice cream in illegally occupied territory in Palestine.

I am honestly confused about the whole thing. I would have thought people would be rejoicing that another item is being withheld from the Palestinians, this boycott would not have any impact on a Jewish settler who has freedom of movement.

The fact is the Arabs tried to destroy Israel and Israel won. That land did not belong to the Palestinians. Other countries claimed that land. Every deal offered to the Palestinians was refused. Israel fought off the aggressors and took land from them in a defensive action. And since then have given most of it back.

Does that make them entitled to Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream?
