Long speeches in scripture, but no recorded instances of someone interrupting them or taking the discussion off topic.

Odds are, interruptions did happen, off topic tangents were brought up - but none of that is recorded.

The long speech without interruptions did not happen, it's just easier to read that way.

I think that some of them serve their purposes. Especially Luke recalling Peter speaking in Acts. He recounts a long history of the Jews. This is likely to add weight to the idea of the gospel and I think it is also Luke's demonstrating that even as a gentile he knows the Jewish scriptures.

I think so too.

In a sense, it's important to remember that the bible people, were people, and had to deal with people just like every other generation.

It’s kind of like seeing someone in street with a Bible saying things while people are just walking by not caring. Some may stop by to listen. There are those who street preach with open forums for others to ask questions. Surely it could have been the same way back then. Who knows; all we do know is real people, real culture.

Can you be specific? I know there is some truth in the Bible, since these books were written from memory and then copied and recouped, there are likely errors, but there is truth. The Dead Sea Scrolls from 2000 years ago are quite similar to modern OT manuscripts, but not 100% the same. The return of the Jews from Babylon during Persian empire times is confirmed by inscriptions found by archaeologists. Early Roman historians wrote about Christians. First century Jewish historian Flavius Josephus wrote about Jesus and John the Baptist in his book.

Jesus is the living word. Finding a personal relationship with Jesus is important. Jesus is more than some text on a page.

The examples are genre related and in the OP.

Jesus speaks a long speech, all attention is on him, and no one in the crowd heckles him? Come on.

Not necessarily so. Some cultures, especially in past history, give all respect to what elders say.

We're 2,000 years later. . .bizzleteen cultures later. . .and you think you know what a crowd would do in Judah-land?

Rather myopic, don't you think?

Did they heckle Billy Graham? Usually not. If they did it would not be included in a book of his speeches.

Jesus was teaching and a man with an unclean spirit interrupted him. Jesus rebuked the interruption, Mark 1:24.

This is what is taught about the past, but we do not know if that is what actually happened.

Same humans, different toys.

Good point, and good scripture of an interruption, thank you.

It's not about the toys, it's about the culture.

I note that it wasn't a human interruption. . .and I also note the interruption did make the record... that may be all we need to know to conclude interruptions were not left out.
