Is the real Mt. Sinai in Saudi Arabia?

I am posting this thread here, as St. Catherine's monastery is an Eastern Orthodox monastery in Egypt at the site of the traditional Mount Sinai. Now I just watched a very interesting documentary on Amazon Prime which contends that the real Mount Sinai is in the Arabian Peninsula and the two researchers behind the piece seemed to present some pretty convincing evidence. Has anyone in this forum or in CF at large heard of this theory and what do you think of it?

I always search the bible for the truth instead of trusting men does this help your question:
  • Leviticus 26:46 (NLT)
These are the decrees, regulations, and instructions that the Lord gave through Moses on Mount Sinai as evidence of the relationship between himself and the Israelites.

  • Exodus 16:1 (NLT)
Then the whole community of Israel set out from Elim and journeyed into the wilderness of Sin, between Elim and Mount Sinai. They arrived there on the fifteenth day of the second month, one month after leaving the land of Egypt.
Does this help at all it suggests that they left between Elim and Mount Sinai.

Ron Wyatt claimed Jebel al Lawz in Saudi Arabia was Mt. Sinai. His theories are not taken seriously. He was trying to sell books. He reported finding Noah’s Ark, a boat shaped rock. The rock was never a boat, not even a close resemblance of a boat.

Some thought the description of Mt. Sinai resembled a volcano. There are volcanoes in NW Arabia such as at Harrat Khaibar and above Medinah.

Yeah I've heard about it. It's pretty cool. You can practically imagine Bible history being played out.
Part of their evidence is that the Bedouins that live near the mountain claim that it is Moses' mountain. The researchers also show some rock formations that seem to go along with what is described in the Bible. They also point to some watering holes and palm trees on the way from what they claim is the real Red Sea crossing up to the Arabian Mount Sinai, which agrees with the Biblical description.

Men wrote the Bible. Do you think that Exodus and/or Leviticus was written by dogs?

Yes I just recently heard about it too. Seems much of it is due to the archeology and referring to ancient writings.

One point I heard made was the earliest of known traditions do point to the Arabian Peninsula. It was only later when the Byzantine Emperor lost that land to the Persians, that he chose the another location for two reasons. He found some Christian monks were present there at the time who made that claim and no longer having access to the more ancient site.

Was this documentary funded by the Saudis by chance?
I highly doubt it. Since Judaism and Christianity place more emphasis upon Moses and the Ten Commandments than Islam, such seems most unlikely.

From the Documentary I watched, the Saudis had their cameras confiscated. So they couldn't show any video footage. But a family from a different trip did manage to provide photos.

Some other explorer found a volcano named Hala al Badr he thought was in synch with the Exodus itinerary, but there are no confirmed recent eruptions from this cone.
Hala-'l Badr - Wikipedia

There are Bedouin in the Sinai peninsula who might tell you Jebel Musa (Mt. Moses) is Mt. Sinai. It is near an oasis and St. Catherine’s Monastery (founded 565 AD).

Some people think Exodus is a legend with some laws worthy of consideration, albeit not perfect.

Consider that the Hebrew people entered the promised land through what is now Jordan where Moses also died. They were wandering 40 years previously so there is a good chance they covered the the territory. But of course being male dominated, they didn't follow maps.

@Basil the Great

The first video (Exodus Revealed) focuses on the Red Sea crossing discovery (i.e. The gulf of aqaba near Neweiba beach).

The second video (Mountain of Fire) focuses on the Mt. Sinai discovery (i.e. Jabal lawz mountain in Saudi Arabia).

I would highly recommend to watch them in order (“Exodus Revealed” first, and “Mountain of Fire” last). They are both locations that are near each other and there are many evidences that support these as the actual biblical sites as found in the Bible.

Are you claiming the bible is fake? and to believe people in documentaries?
Was this documentary funded by the Saudis by chance?
Christians also make this claim, including Saudi Arabian Christians, numerous of them are closeted in SA.

"For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." - 2 Peter 1:21

From the Documentary I watched, the Saudis had their cameras confiscated. So they couldn't show any video footage. But a family from a different trip did manage to provide photos.
There is a series of video interviews done by Al Fadi on his Christian YouTube channel CIRA, he invited Joel Richardson to talk about this. Joe brought a few pictures too but it's mostly discussion.

Regardless that nation is changing at a snails pace and in my view it could eventually make life a little more safe for Christian Saudis. "But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare." Jeremiah 29:7
