I’m not saying that.

You’re talking about decision making in your own best interest whilst ignoring the ramifications your own decisions can have on others around you, just like a drunk driver.
If I'm sick I'll self isolate. I don't need a vaccine that's still in trials to do that.

When you tell people that they need to take a vaccine that's still in trials so you feel a little safer, you're putting them at risk.

Except if your not visibly sick you can still spread it to kill others. Just as many drunk drivers don't think they are drunk, but still are.

Vaccinated people have a possibility to spread it too. Hm, it's almost like the vaccine needs more time for us to figure out the kinks.

A much lower possibility. And the fewer people who get vaccinated, the more the virus will have a chance to mutate, and the less effective the vaccines we have will be against the variants.

You can't just say 'wait years until the vaccine has been through all sorts of testing', because by then it will be too late. The virus will have mutated and the vaccine will no longer be effective.

Right, and I'm saying that I (and many others) don't find Covid, or it's variants, a destructive enough virus that I'd be willing to become a human guinnea pig to stop it.

Btw, kudos to those who get the vaccine anyway but also understand that there's a risk either way and allowing people to make their own choice. For those people especially I really hope the vaccine and its boosters (should they choose to get them. Not that I'd blame them for putting their for down and saying enough is enough) turns out to be safe.

But in the meantime, I'll stick with my 66-98% chance to do nothing and have this all work itself out in a few years.

And let millions of more people die in the meantime.

Before the vaccine, thousands of people per day were dying of the virus in the US alone. Now it's down to a few dozen per day.

Fauci: Vaccinated people who contract COVID-19 are far less likely to spread the virus than unvaccinated people

Let's hope you don't get it & give it to your parents but then maybe they got vaccinated?

Relieved once my 13 yr old got second shot. Two weeks after shot, she was happily playing with neighborhood friend. I would regret forever if my child ended up like this 13 yr old:

From the first article:
Dr. Anthony Fauci said it would be "reasonable" to assume vaccinated people are less likely to spread COVID-19.

Meaning we don't know for sure yet.

Also, my mom, sister, and mother-in-law are vaccinated. My dad is not. That said they all live states away so we haven't gotten together in person in some time.

I social distance, wear a mask if a store requires me to, I shop at off peak hours, I don't sneeze near anyone and if I do I do it into my elbow while pointed away from people, I never cough, I didn't gather for Easter or 4th of July, I avoid crowds, I'll take classes online. I do plenty to prevent the spread within reason.

Can Vaccinated People Transmit COVID-19 to Others? – Health Essentials from Cleveland Clinic

"The study found that the mRNA COVID-19 vaccines authorized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ( Pfizer-BioNTech’s and Moderna’s) reduced the risk of infection by 91% for fully vaccinated people. The study also is among the first to show that mRNA vaccination benefits people who get COVID-19 despite being fully vaccinated (14 or more days after dose two) or partially vaccinated (14 or more days after dose one to 13 days after dose two).

The results of this study also suggest that fully or partially vaccinated people who become infected with COVID-19 might be less likely to spread the virus to others. With fully or partially vaccinated study participants, the virus was 40% less detectable in their noses."

husband, child, and I are all vaccinated & we still wear masks everywhere/social distance especially since 80% of people are no longer wearing masks

I only see "some" elderly wearing masks, now
not even cashiers are wearing them anymore

people are still getting virus & dyng in our county

How is this any different from all the seriously injured people who wish they had worn their seatbelt? Or those who have had to get a quadruple bypass or heart transplant, wish they taken better care of themselves? Or those who got lung cancer, wished they never smoked?

I'm curious how they came up with that figure and I suspect covid has about a 10% infection rate anyway, with or without the vaccine. Example: Sweden has a population of approximately 10mil and 1mil covid cases and they never shut down. Japan has almost 126*mil (? Sorry on mobile so jumping around is a pain *Fixed) but only had 800k cases. Japan is an island though so that probably helped in keeping their numbers so low.

Arkansas didn't shut down - 363k cases with population about 3mil... 12% infection rate.
North Dakota "" - 111k cases 760k pop... 14% infection rate.
Iowa "" - 375k cases 3.15mil pop... 11% infection rate.

This isn’t the infection rate. You are showing the percentage of the population that has been infected. This number is going to continue to rise until this disease is eradicated.

The infection rate is measured by R-naught. The number of people one infected person will infect. If each person infects more than 1 other person, the disease will continue to increase in the population. If it is below 1, the disease will start to fizzle out. With no mitigation efforts, COVID-19 was around R3. The Delta variant is estimated (we don’t have a true study on no mitigation against it yet) as high as R6. That’s the infection rate.

few years after marriage, a car hit me on hwy (twice as my car moved around where truck hit me again)

I'm in pain everyday
I never go without a seatbelt again & make sure child wears one & sits in back seat where it's safer

there's enough evidence/stories of young unvaccinated giving virus to parents so what's the excuse?

What's the parents excuse for not being vaccinated? If someone had infected me because I hadn't gotten vaccinated asap, I'd be blaming myself, not them.
