The phrase “thou shalt surely die” in Genesis 2:17 is literally translated from Hebrew as “to die, you shall die”. Rather, it should be “to kill, you shall die”. “Muth” = “to kill, have one executed, to die”.

(17) But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
We find the concept “to kill, you shall die” in Revelation 13: “he that kills with the sword must be killed with the sword”. When one uses the “sword” to kill, he must die also with it….to kill, you shall die.

(10) He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
The “sword” is the judgmental tongue that speaks evil of others who do not serve and worship their particular church “handwriting of ordinances”. One uses the tongue to bless God and curse men also (thinking that they are doing God “service” for doing so).
They use their church documents as a standard to judge others with. They become judge, jury and executioner of others supposedly in God’s name (authority) when we are told that there is only One Judge…only One Lawgiver. No handwriting of a church scribe should be used as a replacement for God’s independent judgment of another. We are not as "gods" knowing what or who is "good and evil" ... being judges for God.
James 4:11-12 KJV

Yet, many judge…putting any out of their church gatherings if one does not believe what they believe in (their “statements of faith”).
They “kill” you so-to-speak with false accusations (labeling others as “evildoers”) supposedly thinking they are doing God “service” for doing so.

(2) They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
(3) And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
Supposedly in His name (authority) do they “cast out devils”….those people who don’t serve and worship their church handwriting of dogmas. Many are judged as “devils” …evildoers…for not keeping their “wonderful works”. And they do these wonderful things supposedly in God’s name…His authority. (in thy name...in thy name...in thy name)\
They think that God approves of their "righteous" judgment of others in "righteous" wrath. But this is not doing the will of the Father in Heaven.
Matthew 7:21-23 KJV
(21) Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
(22) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
(23) And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Their “image” is the inscribed handwriting of church ordinances…the commandments and teachings of men that the church scribes have engraved into their documents for others to serve and worship.
They use this image/handwriting to serve “another Jesus” who is not the Christ but is instead-of the true Christ (the antichrist).
Their “jesus” is a “wild beast” and not the Lamb slain who did not return evil for evil.
Their “jesus” causes the daily sacrifice of the Lamb to cease in those who follow “another jesus” who is not the Christ.
The “deadly wound” is healed as they do not keep the daily sacrifice of our Lord (the Lamb slain who is not a wild, warring beast) in their mortal bodies. The sword of the Spirit is no longer used to deaden the practicing of the sin. They continue to practice the sin by judging others (speaking evil of them) using the image (the handwriting of church ordinances) to "kill".
Revelation 13:14-15 KJV
(14) And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
The false prophets give “life”….that is, spirit or breath…unto the image of the beast.
This spirit or breath is THE Lie of the serpent spoken from the beginning…the lying spirit. They listen to another spirit...the spirit of "jesus" the antichrist.
They believe that one has peace and safety in the judging of others supposedly in God’s name using their own standards….their own church handwritings of the church scribes that are used to serve “another jesus”. They “kill” others who do not serve and worship their “image”…their handwriting that is being used to serve their war-like “another jesus”.
(15) And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
They changed the glory of uncorruptible God into an “image” made like corruptible (decayed) man.
They write their church “constitutions” (their images) of self-government with like-sounding language (words are as "birds") and like format as the outside worlds’ documents that do not serve God. The nations use their documents in their pursuit of earthly things (what to eat, what to drink, what to wear) that they wholly run after like fourfooted beasts upon the earth.
Romans 1:22-25 KJV
(22) Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
(23) And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
(24) Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
They change the truth of God IN THE Lie and worship and serve the “creature”…the formation of their handwriting…more than the Creator.
(25) Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
This is what the woman in the garden did….she changed the truth of God IN the Lie.

….was changed in the lie as “neither shall you touch it” is added by her to God’s truth and changed.
A carnal commandment is inserted and changes the truth of God that He commanded man to keep. It has now become the “creature”…the formation…the ordinance of man… that is served more than God. And it is presented as God had commanded it when He did not.

(1) Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
(2) And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
(3) But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
The woman had added “neither shall you touch it”….and this is why Paul uses “touch not” as an example of a commandment of man written down in their handwritings which are patterned after the "rudiments of the world"...their constitutions, laws, statutes, etc which do not serve God.

(20) Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
(21) (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
(22) Which all are to perish with the using) after the commandments and doctrines of men?

In the lie, the woman is told that “you shall not surely die”…that is: to kill, you shall not die. A peace and safety message is given by the serpent to those who are deceived into practicing the lie today. A false prophet falsely promises "peace" in their congregations where there is none when one serves and worships a handwriting of ordinances.

A “judge” knows what is “good and evil” and judges another by the standard of their laws. You shall be seen as "wise". Many are wanting to be seen as wise....pursuing "vain glory" with their serving of their handwritings and the judgment of others who do not keep them.
(5) For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
How do the nations judge others ?
Using their own constitutions, laws, statutes that they have written for themselves to self-govern with rather than serve God in His kingdom (government). They replace God’s laws with their own laws and judge themselves with them.
It is the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil” that is in the midst of the garden.
We, as His people, are to serve God with His commandments and not write our own handwritings of ordinances to worship and serve.
God had put the man whom He had formed (the giving of His Spirit) in the garden of Eden (meaning “delight”) to dress (serve) and keep it.

(15) And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
He places us in the garden of Eden….a close relationship with Him through the working and keeping of His commandments only...and not our own. His commandments are a “delight” (Eden) to work and keep. We are not to delight ourselves in our own handwritten commandments and statutes of men.
Psalms 119:47-48 KJV
(47) And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.
(48) My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes.
The tree of knowledge of good and evil is also found in the midst. The outside worlds’ governments have their own handwritings of their own laws and statutes that they serve and worship. We either do His commandments and LIVE or worship our own handwritings where we judge others and where the fruit of that is death.

We must not come up with our own handwriting of dogmas that we use to judge others with. The fruit of that is death.
