Why are Christians so insistent on this being the truth of the thing when God is remarkably silent outside a collection of 2,000-3,000 year old texts?

Christians aren't the only ones who believe in God.

And if we eliminate belief based on antiquity, their goes a great deal of history and philosophy.

Christians aren't the only ones who believe in God.

It depends on what you meant by "God". Most of humanity doesn't believe in a single, supreme deity that revealed himself to Abraham and Moses. Add onto that that an even smaller percentage of humanity believes that God is three persons in one being.

Christians religion doesn't have a good track record with LGBT persons, and this conversation just reinforces my point further. Only epistemologically irresponsible people would gamble the dignity of their neighbor on an almost certainly flawed interpretation of a 2000 year old religious text.

It goes even further by producing the notion that if you don't want to celebrate it, then there's something wrong with you.

That's more psychological projection on your part, I am afraid.

Romans 1:21-32 pretty much describes the last 60 years of the US, in perfect sequence. the US started not recognizing God as the creator, God gave people over to unclean lusts, and.... we had a sexual revolution. Then, we (as a nation) declared that there is no God, and started worshiping the creation (humanism, Gaia worship/environmentalism), which was followed by the gay rights and LGBT movement, which is right in line with Romans 1:26-27. Then finally God gives them over to a reprobate mind, and the result is all sin and unrighteousness, and concluding with the celebration of sin and open derision of God.
It's just eerie how it goes in that exact order. Sexual revolution, explosion of homosexuality, followed by a collapsing society that openly celebrates sin.

Epistemology is a branch of philosophy. Should we disregard the writings of Plato, Socrates, Aristotle and many other philosophers because those writings are over 2000 years old?

As for Christianity, I get the feeling you're criticizing something you don't know much about.

Please, stop trying to portray Christians as champions of intellectualism, it is insincere.

Socrates raised questions about things that were considered sacred, including religion. Christians, on the other hand, do not.

No I'm saying if we eliminate things based on age, there's quite a lot that goes out the window with that. In other words "the Bible is old" is a lame argument.

Now you are anti-Christian. That's obvious. How many more times do you need to express that? Is it something you feel the need to talk about continuously?

That's one evidence to me that God is real, because those who don't believe in God, specifically the God of Christianity, can't stop talking about him. And hang out in Christian forums etc.

That's a nonsensical argument. I talk about Christianity alot here because I'm trying to understand how otherwise intelligent people can resort to such poor quality thinking, and I am simply responding to bad argument when I find them.

Well
Bruce is his name
and God did make him a man.

I see no obligation to help someone continue living a lie.

God made me with lousy eyesight. A few laser beams to the corneas later, and I have 20/20 vision.

Am I living a lie?

A world of difference between the two.
You realize the surgery doesn't actually give a penis or vagina right?
It gives a stitched on wad of unfunctional tissue (that has resulted in suicides over dissatisfaction with the end product), and a gaping wound that constantly tries to heal itself and so it has to be propped open with devices to keep it dilated and is very prone to infections.
As far as your body's concerned, that's not a vagina, that's a piercing. Just like if you take out a piercing, if you go a while without anything in the hole.. it heals up and closes, because that hole isn't supposed to be there. I can't put an earring in my ear anymore for the same reason.
Lasix corrects a physiological problem
Gender "Confirmation" Surgery is attempting to make your body into something it's not. It's not the body that has a physiological problem, it's the brain, or possibly not even a brain problem but just confusion during a season of someone's life (which is why children should never be allowed to make that decision, at least as far as HRT and surgery. Those "therapies" cause life long damage, over something they may change their mind about when going through puberty).
You can't fix a brain problem by mutilating your body.

More like I'm trying to see if there is anybody with a good argument on why I should believe, despite all the demonstrated harms of Christian religion.

Well, I don't have a NT verse to provide a second witness but..

Deuteronomy 23:1

But either way. God created us male and female, it dishonors God to claim you know better than God, whether you're a man or a woman.

Again, that's about castration. Not all transgender people do that. All I'm saying is that the Bible never specifically refers to the topic, not that you can't make a case against it.

I checked that out and it's a fact.
Post-operative vaginal dilation is an integral part of the initial surgery recovery and the regular maintenance of a transgender person's neo-vagina.

Oh, your a fan? What are your thoughts on Plato's Symposium? There's lots of gay love in that one.

You commented on my earlier post that there are no parades or celebrations of gluttony and greed. That's true, in a sense. I mean, in the US, virtually all of our celebrations glorify gluttony and greed. So, we don't need a some specific celebration for what is ubiquitous and widely accepted throughout the culture, including Christian culture.

Just imagine Christmas without gluttony and greed. It would be no gifts, no overeating, no overspending, just talk about Jesus. Obviously, many Christians have embraced gluttony and greed with open, forgiving arms.

Vaginoplasty is also performed on cisgender women, not just some transwomen. Attempting to portray gender reassignment as deviant based on sensationalizing this surgery is simply intellectually dishonest.
