Greetings
2 Thess 1:1-2

1 Paul, Silvanus and Timothy,

To the community of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Yeshua the Messiah:

2 Grace to you and shalom from God our Father and the Lord Yeshua the Messiah!

We start with the initial greeting where the letter states it is from Paul, Silas, and Timothy. See Act 15:22 and Act 16:1-3. Silas was with Paul on his first journey to Thessalonica and Timothy joined them on the second journey.

Due to some differences in the eschatology in the 1st letter to the 2nd, there is dispute among some scholars that Paul wrote the 2nd letter. In the first letter Paul's reference to the, "Day of the Lord" is sudden, like a "thief in the night" (1 Thess 5:2), while in the 2nd the "Day of the Lord, comes after the antichrist has been revealed" (2 Thess 2:3). According to the Complete Jewish Study Bible the conflict comes from not understanding the meaning of the Hebrew idioms at play. Also that in the 1st letter Paul uses the "Day of the Lord" as a motivation for holy living; in his 2nd letter, he uses the term to reassure that someday good will win and God will make right all injustices and wrongs.
The greeting offers grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Yeshua, the Messiah.

Judgment At Messiah's Coming
2 Thess 1:3-12

3 We ought to always thank God for you, brothers and sisters, as is appropriate, because your faithfulness grows wonderfully, and the love of each one of you for one another continually increases. 4 Therefore, we ourselves boast of you among the communities of God—about your perseverance and faithfulness through all the persecutions and troubles that you endure. 5 This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, so that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which indeed you are suffering.

Paul says the reason for his and the other apostles continual thanks to God for them is appropriate because they, the believers in Thessalonica's faithfulness to God and in their growth and love for each other, and in fact their love is always increasing. This is in line with what Yeshua taught on the greatest commandment:The Lord God is One, and you shall love the Lord God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. See Deut 6:4-5; Mark 12:28-31.

For that reason Paul and the others boast about them through all the other communities of believers. They boast of their perseverance and faithfulness in all the persecutions and troubles that the Thessalonians endure. Their endurance is evedence of God's righteous judgment and not their own, so they may be considered worthy of the Kingdom of God, which is the reason they are being persecuted. See Lev 19:18.

(6 For after all, it is right in the sight of God to pay back trouble to those who trouble you, 7 and relief to you who suffer trouble along with us. At the revelation of the Lord Yeshua from heaven with His mighty angels 8 in flaming fire, He will command judgment on those who do not know God and do not heed the Good News of our Lord Yeshua. 9 They will pay the price of eternal ruin, away from the presence of the Lord and the glory of His power 10 on that Day when He comes to be glorified among His kedoshim and marveled at by all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed.)

It is right that "pay-back" comes from God to those who persecute you and He will bring relief to you who suffer trouble right along with them. It is not right that we take vengence on those who are persecuting us, and we must continue to pray for them as well, that their eyes may be opened before Yeshua returns.

At the return pf Yeshua, when we meet Him in the air, along with His angels, in flaming fire, He will command judgement on those who do not know God, nor do they listen to His call to the Good News of "Forgiveness of all sin through the Lord Yeshua, the Messiah."

Those who are persecuting us will pay the price of eternal ruin, which is away from His presence and His power. On the day when He comes to be glorified among His kedoshim (holy one's). He will be glorified by the changed lives of all who believed on His name and have been set apart for His purposes. He will be marveled at among all who have believed because the testimony of Paul's and all the others to them and to to us, was believed and confirmed in our lives.

11 With this in mind, we pray for you constantly, that our God may consider you worthy of the calling and fulfill with power every good desire and work of faith, 12 so the name of our Lord Yeshua may be glorified in you, and you in Him, in keeping with the grace of our God and the Lord Yeshua the Messiah.

With the return of Yeshua in view, Paul and the others pray for the Thessalonians constantly, that God would consider them and now us, worthy of the calling to the faith and with His power fulfill every desire for good and complete every work of faith. This is so that the name of Yeshua will be glorified in them and now us by what we do and us in Him according to His grace.

The Man of Lawlessness
2 Thess 2:1-12

2 Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, concerning the coming of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah and our gathering together to Him, 2 not to get shaken out of your mind or disturbed—either by a spirit or a word or a letter as if through us—as though the Day of the Lord has come. 3 Let no one deceive you in any way, for the Day will not come unless the rebellion comes first and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the one destined to be destroyed. 4 He opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he sits in the Temple of God, proclaiming himself that he is God.

It seems that many of the Thessolonians had become shaken and were in fear that the Lord Yeshua had already returned. Whether it was a so-called prophetic word, or someone claiming they had a letter/word from Paul saying the "coming of the Lord" had already happened they were to not believe it, because the Lord had not gathered His saints together yet, and Paul proceeded to tell them things that had to happen first before the coming of the Lord.

He says, "Do not allow yourselves to be deceived (2 Cor 4:1-2). Misinformation comes from a spirit that is not the Ruach HaKodesh (1 King 22:22-23; 1 Thess 5:19-22; 1 Jn 4:1). The day of the Lord will not come until the rebellion comes first, a great falling away and abandonment of the faith by professed believers. We see more and more of that happening today with well known worship leaders and people in popular Christian singing groups suddenly walking away from their faith.

Also, the man of lawlessness (the anti-christ) is revealed before the Lord's return. This lawless man will exalt himself above every so-called god and will place himself as an object of worship, and he will sit in the Temple of God and proclaim himself to be God.

This Temple will be the third Temple which is in planning process in Israel right now...a sure sign Yeshua is coming soon  See this article from Jewish Voice on Building Of The Third Temple. There are a few things that need to happen yet before that great shofar blast and we all meet our Lord in the air.

5 Don’t you remember that when I was still with you I was telling you these things? 6 And you know what now holds back, for him to be revealed in his own time. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already operating; only there is one who holds back just now, until he is taken out of the way. 8 Then the lawless one will be revealed. The Lord Yeshua will slay him with the breath of His mouth and wipe him out with the appearance of His coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one is connected to the activity of satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, 10 and with every kind of wicked deception toward those who are perishing. They perish because they did not accept the love of the truth so as to be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a delusional force, to lead them to believe what is false, 12 so that they may be judged—all those who did not believe the truth but delighted in wickedness.

Paul reminds them that when he was with them he taught them these things God has the time set for it all to begin to happen and when it's time, the one who's standing in the way of the man of lawlessness being revealed will be removed and the anti-christ will be revealed.

Because of the wording,"Is out of the way", I think the one standing in the way is satan, he holds sway in the world right now (Eph 6:11-13; 1 Pet 5:8; 1 Jon 5:19), but God will deal with him in the future (Rev 12-13, 20).

There could be other restrainers though too, "God, the Messiah, the Ruach HaKodesh The Roman Empire, the preaching of the Good News". ~The Complete Jewish Study Bible~

Lawlessness is already in full swing throughout the world and there is an appointed time for his being revealed and when it's time, he will be.

The lawless one will be wiped out with the breath of Yeshua when he returns. The appearance of the lawless one is connected to the activity of satan and with satan he will have power to perform false signs and wonders and all kinds of wicked deceptions (Matt 4:1; Rev 13) and he will deceive those who do not accept the truth and they are dying without salvation.

At that time, due to their wickedness God will allow those who refuse truth to be deceived and believe all the false things they are told. They will be judged on their choice to not believe the truth but instead took delight in wickedness.

Firstfruits Of Salvation
2 Thess 2:13-17

13 But we should always give thanks to God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits for salvation through sanctification by the Ruach and belief in the truth. 14 He called you to this salvation through our proclaiming the Good News, for you to gain the glory of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah. 15 So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold on to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by our letter.

Paul and the other emisaries are compelled to continue in giving thanks to God for these believers. Why? God had chosen them to become some of the first who believed on the name of Yeshua Messiah as taught by the emissaries for deliverance from sin and in their faith in that truth are made holy and righteous before God. Paul tells them to stand firm in what was originally taught them, whether it was written in a letter or given to them verbally. Don't get caught up on all the other things being taught especially when it's different from what the emissaries have taught them. Such as the situation where there were some teachers saying Yeshua had already returned but he had not and Paul was having to repeat his original teachings on the subject and correct the errors of other teachers.

16 Now may our Lord Yeshua the Messiah Himself and God our Father, who loved us and by grace gave us eternal comfort and good hope, 17 comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good deed and word.

By Gods grace we have eternal comfort and good hope, comfort, and strength in our hearts in every good thing we do and say.

Pray For Us
2 Thess 3:1-5

1 Finally, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the word of the Lord may spread quickly and be glorified—just as it is with you. 2 Also pray that we may be rescued from perverse and evil people, for not all are trustworthy. 3 But the Lord is trustworthy—and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. 4 We have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you are doing and will keep doing what we command. 5 May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Messiah.

Again, Paul asks for prayer, pray that the word of the Lord may spread quickly and that the impulse to share the gospel would grow and bring about successful preaching and teaching that leads to bringing Glory to God...just as their lives were bringing Glory to God.

Pray also that he and those with him would be rescued from the perverse and evil people. Not everyone who says they believe in Yeshua really does. He does not go into detail here about who these people are but we know that there were many who were accusing him of things and teachings he was not guilty of as well as seeking to kill him and the others. There were probably some who had pretended to be friends and brothers/sisters in the Lord and then turned on him. Not all who say they are brothers/sisters are trustworthy.

But the Lord is trustworthy! Everyone else may fail us but the Lord will never fail us. This is where knowing God's word will benefit us greatly. When someone who claims to be a believer tries to deceive us, when we have His word hidden in our hearts we will not be led astray. Adonai will strengthen and protect from the evil one.

Paul and the others have confidence in the Lord regarding the Thessalonians, that they were doing and would keep doing all that the Apostles had taught and commanded them.

Then he says, "May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Messiah".

This is not the "love of God" to man, but the "love of man to God". May we fall deeper in love with God. May we have the same patience that our Messiah had/has toward us. The world today is "sppedy" oriented. There is a huge lack of patience and even believers have gotten caught up in it. They and we need the patience that Yeshua showed when he was being beaten and crucified. The patience Yeshua showed when a sincere question was asked. The only time we see Yeshua getting rough is with the "religious", those who thought they were all it, and better than everyone else.

We need patience so that we may be kind to those who need Him and also to endure our trials in a proper manner and bring glory to God in our behavior.
