Matthew 14:31 (NKJV)
And immediately Jesus stretched out [His] hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The question of the ages; why do we doubt?
Jesus asks this question to the heart of man…
If it is true God is all goodness, if it is true that God is all love, if it is true God sent His son to die for the sins of the world….. If these things be true, but yet, still we doubt…
Why?
Because, choosing own will over His will, is the birth of all doubt…
For by choosing own will over His will, proves by that very choice two things, that one does not understand what self is, nor does understand the doings of His will… For His will, in all things is the right thing, this is the righteous thing, which is the love thing… For choosing self will over His will is choosing the evil thing…. But this is not believed, but it is not disbelieved either, for it is what self by nature does…. It cares not for that which is right, nor, for that which is wrong, but like a brute beast of the field cares only for what it wants, what works for it in the present set of circumstances…
This is the will that needs to be made to believe.. The word came to Peter; come, Peter responded, yet the heart was not ready to give up the life of circumstances, not knowing yet what the life of self was… For when the life of self is seen to be but the life of a brute beast of the field, it will be run from as if it was, all the evil that Christ says it is…. Once it is seen, faith reins supreme… Now when self is given leave, and allowed to manifest itself, the heart screams at it with a; oh you of little faith, why did you doubt…
Be blessed in the lesson of faith…
"the natural mind is enmity against God".
This means that your natural logical analytical thinking processor, is carnal, always.
And when you are born again, your mind, which is the "soul realm" is not born again.
Only your SPIRIT is born again.
So, you have to RENEW your mind, or your mind will continue to be "natural" which is "in the flesh", and that can never be in agreement with the bible, with the Spirit of God, or with the Truth.
If you crave false testimony, you may be filled with doubt. If you accept true testimony, will you believe?
Doubt is the result of the lack of vision. If one cannot envision the future benefit of thing, they naturally have doubts. Doubt arises when one is asked to make a sacrifice for something beyond the reach of his or her mind. However faith, reinforced by positive experience, can overcome doubt.
why do we doubt
It is a good question and one that deserves serious consideration.
There are many reasons for doubt, Peter saw the waves, felt the power of the wind, looked at the unnatural thing he was doing and doubted.
Give him the credit foe both asking for the impossible and acting on the call.
We doubt for the same reasons. We see the opposition to what we believe, we listen to the arguments and we believe them.
Doubt never strikes when we are confident, but always when we are weak, harassed, struggling etc
We need to remember we do not have to have all the answers to a sceptics challenge, just as they do not have all the answers to the challenge of Christianity and the empty tomb.
We serve a Saviour who intimately knows our weaknesses, all of them and he still loves us, how amazing is that. There's more he forgives us our failures as well.
Grace is the key to the entire Christian experience. Doubt is of the flesh. Our flesh has been crucified with Christ. Then for me, it stands to reason that my ability to not doubt comes from God's blessing. A gift! A gift of faith!
In the flesh, I will never not be able to not doubt; therefore, if I'm dead with Christ, it is only by HIs Grace, walking in the new man, will I be able to have the proper faith.
If I try to do this based on my own will, then I'm walking in the flesh. I will resistance, which is what the flesh does, war against the spirit, and I will fail.
But waking in the new man, by God's Spirit, I'm given the Power to not doubt based on God's grace, which is the free gift of faith!
If I take the position in my life and say to myself, I must learn how to not doubt, to have greater faith, and ask myself, "how can I accomplish this," then I'm putting forth the flesh to try and accomplish something I will never accomplish.
But if I take the position in my life and say to myself, that I have died with Christ, and I'm unable to do nothing without Christ, and therefore I will not try to stop doubting, but I will look to Christ for the Power to accomplish that that I'm unable to accomplish, then I'm walking by the Spirit. Then what I could not do is accomplished by the Grace of God!
Hi, if you wouldn’t mind me saying so, I see such a depth of having experience with God in your response… Can’t but say God is alive and working mightily in your life… Be blessed in that awesome relationship you have with Him… And to consider that each and every day, He becomes the more, and you the less…
Be blessed in your reckoning and your yielding to God, which is our reasonable service…
A blessing to read..
The question of the ages; why do we doubt?
Romans 10:17
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
2 Timothy 1:12
12 For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.
Acts 17:2-4
2 And Paul went in, as was his custom, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures,
3 explaining and proving that it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ.”
4 And some of them were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a great many of the devout Greeks and not a few of the leading women.
Romans 4:20-21
20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
Romans 14:14
14 I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus ...
Hebrews 11:13
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
