@Dave Darling I would like to share with you some scriptures. Let me just say there is joy found in knowing that the Lord Jesus Christ came and paid for the sins of mankind, that in Christ Jesus by and through faith there is redemption, forgiveness.
Now the Christian walk is not always the easiest. Our carnal nature is actually hostile (hatred) towards God. The only way to combat this is to be born again by God through the Lord Jesus Christ and having faith for without faith it is impossible to please God.
The choice of eternal salvation is your choice of whether or not you decide to openly have communication with God by and through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ who came, died, was buried and resurrected by God on the third day.
My encouragement would be to ask you to go and read the Gospels slowly for 20 minutes every so often and continue to go back and read that you may be spiritually fed and that is one way to have the Lord Jesus Christ in your life to have peace, and joy, but there are struggles in the Christian walk with high mountain tops, and low valleys which have been true in my own life it. It has been an endurance to continue to stay steadfast in the knowledge of God and the Lord Jesus Christ, in faith (trusting in God by his promises).
Romans 5:
Peace and Hope
5 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.
3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.
5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Colossians 1:
9 For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
10 so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
11 strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously
12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.
13 For He (God) rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,
Philippians 4:
Therefore, my beloved brethren whom I long to see, my joy and crown, in this way stand firm in the Lord, my beloved.
2 I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche to live in harmony in the Lord.
3 Indeed, true companion, I ask you also to help these women who have shared my struggle in the cause of the gospel, together with Clement also and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!
5 Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near.
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Isaiah 41:
10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Mark 6:
45Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of Him to Bethsaida, while He dismissed the crowd.
4
6After bidding them farewell, He went up on the mountain to pray.
47When evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea, and Jesus was alone on land.
48He could see that the disciples were straining to row, because the wind was against them. About the fourth watch of the night,
g Jesus went out to them, walking on the sea. He intended to pass by them,
49but when they saw Him walking on the sea, they cried out, thinking He was a ghost—
50for they all saw Him and were terrified.
But Jesus spoke up at once: “Take courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.”
51Then He climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down. And the disciples were utterly astounded,
52for they had not understood about the loaves, but their hearts had been hardened.
Romans 8:
1Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
a
2For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set you
b free from the law of sin and death.
3For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man, as an offering for sin.
c He thus condemned sin in the flesh,
4so that the righteous standard of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
5Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
6The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace,
7because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.
8Those controlled by the flesh
d cannot please God.
9You, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.
Galatians 5:
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
I hope this helps you in your walk brother at least to shed some light in your life by reading these scriptures friend. The Christian walk is not always the easiest it's a small narrow pent up winding turning road filled all kinds of trials that we have to decide for ourselves if we are going to rely on ourselves or rely on God, and the Lord Jesus Christ and their promises.
