Because me and my fellow Californians have done such a great job getting vaccinated, the state has reopened this month. I've been to restaurants; I'm throwing a July 4th party. There's no fear here.

We (mostly) followed the rules. Ate our vegetables. Did our homework. Took one for the team. And now we get to do the end zone dance.
Many other states have been doing better and they have been opened for months. Good job to California for catching up. We meat eating rule breakers have been dancing in the end zone for months. Heck, we already left the field and have been home watching the replays. While California has been "following the science" many have been "ahead of the science" for the past couple years.

Do not not tell them anything, maybe they will stay where they are.

Despite having huge centers of dense population, California ranks 32nd out of 50 in per capita deaths from COVID. South Dakota has less than a million people in the whole state and ranks 10th. Mississippi is trailing in vaccinations and is 5th in deaths per capita.

Dying more is not doing better.

And GDP growth wasn't great anywhere, but California was not too bad. The same as Mississippi.

GDP growth rates? Growth from what? When your economy was trashed by your Governor (good luck with the recall) there is absolutely a lot of room for ecomic growth.

I guess it's back to masks, eating in, and social distancing.
You do what you want. But I am going to go to Outback with my friends and no masks. Why? Because the science actually says I don't need to.

Then it is perhaps a good thing people lost their sense of taste from covid.

I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of our government surplus and tax rebates.
Is that the reason why people are leaving your state in droves? Or perhaps they are leaving because they were smart enough to figure out that a $1100 per year is chump change compared to what they would have by leaving the state altogether and not have to pay any California taxes. But we are getting off topic.

So far, it seems that the Delta variant isn't really dangerous for people who are vaccinated. They can sometimes get infected, but the infection will almost always be quite mild. It's worse for unvaccinated people. Not only they're much more susceptible to infection, but when they get infected there is a higher risk of it getting serious enough for hospitalization or death. So if they bring some restrictions back because of the Delta variant, it would make sense to apply most of them only to unvaccinated people, not everyone, I think.

Another thing, it's been months since the study which showed that a cheap nasal spray is really good at preventing infection, it kind of sucks that it's still not in any official recommendations.

No vaccine, no mask and no isolation for myself since this began and I am fine haven't had covid, I put my trust in God even been in hospitals whilst the virus was at its worst here the only vaccine I need is my faith in God id rather die than trust wolves in sheep's clothing if people cant see the deceitful fruit of the worlds leaders along with Bill Gates, WHO and UN they are the blind following the blind.
I'd previously mentioned your relative safety in Australia, which had kept Covid out well...

But the news today even here in the U.S. Includes that the highly contagious Delta variant of Covid has gotten into Australia.

So, that Australian safety from even being exposed at all may end.

Interesting....but not sure what official recommendation you could make for this. "Everyone should go out and bulk purchase this brand of nasal spray and use it 4 times a day for the rest of their lives." seems a bit...Orwellian.

I know of two people (mid 60's) in the last month who felt the same way. They chose not to be vaccinated and are now dead due to Covid. It's was so unnecessary.....millions around the world have no access to vaccines at all...
But a question. Out of the 2-5 hundred people they say everyone knows or has associations with how many of those would you say have experienced negative reactions from the vaccines. And please don't tell me not any....I've known some....not many but some.

They appear to be only "Christians of convenience" when the refuse a very minor discomfort that would protect them, and more important others, when the refuse to get vaccinations.

It seems you're insinuating people that don't get a vaccine just don't want the discomfort of a pin prick. Maybe an odd one is that way but most I read on the net here through many sites are afraid of the vaccine. Now maybe they're not right to do so but let's not just make it seem it's because of some minor discomfort.

I don't know anyone who has been hospitalized due to reactions from the vaccines....much less died. On the other hand, I know of 10 people who were hospitalized and three of them died from COVID. But of course that's just my experience....
