What I said is that it's factually wrong to insist that only when a minority is dominated by a majority can there be systemic racism. That reply was given in response to this statement:

Well, I'm not talking about numbers here. I mean the majority is always dominated by a minority, that's the way the concentration of power works. It's about who holds the power. In apartheid SA, power was held by the Europeans who established a sort of outpost.The apartheid state was fueled and sustained by its connection to European power, influence and wealth.

The problem is that there is an injustice that exists and is being perpetrated and denied, all at the same time, and here we are, mostly arguing semantics instead of trying to get at the truth as Jesus would have us do.

I would agree, I just wish other people (Ms. Anderson) wouldn't tell me what I think or how I am.

...I guess it's a pet peeve of mine.

Nope your in denial just like me and the rest of the white race who think we’re not racists. Apparently it’s hidden away deep inside us where we can’t see it, but evidently others can.

Rage? Hardley. Pointing out the obvious is all I am doing - no rage - no emotion whasoever.
So you are emotionally dead to the situation? You just picked a side without hearing or understanding the opposite side? Hmmm :scratch:? How is that helpful?

No one is saying that ONLY whites can be racist. The argument is that systemic racism (in the west) can only be perpetrated within white systems.

The biggest problem with “systematic racism” is that no one can ever give any real concrete examples of it.

No, I just do not let emotions get involved to the best of my ability.

How do you know if I have or do not have an understanding of the other side? Hmmm.... what makes you think such a thing.

I am not white - the son of Legal immigrants - I know first hand racist attitudes.

My father taught me that I am 100% responsible for my life. No one is in charge of me. There are times I had to work hard for what I got. That has zero to do with the color of my skin and everything to do with the things I was taught to value.

Perhaps you should get to know me before you judge my position. I'd love to get to know you better.

The parties were at least trying to work together before Obama. But since then, they can hardly speak civilly to one another.
I don't think highlighting an issue is necessarily a fault. If I have something against someone, I should be able to talk to them about it. It's about having a conversation. You can argue or you can talk. You can acknowledge the truth or deny it. How you respond is on you, and no one else. It may be provoking, yes. But we can handle it with grace and care or just be hotheaded if we want to. Our choice.

Also, we are not our politicians. Obama is Obama, and the reps and the dems are who they want to be. But as Christians, should we follow their response, or Christ's? Can we blame the Charlottesville racial protests advocating violence against blacks by the KKK on Trump, or was that the protestors' responsibility alone?

We can keep making excuses for anger, or we can work for change. It's a real choice. No one has been backed into a corner here, although ignorance can keep an individual or a whole group of people from moving forward.

~ Snip ~ Also, we are not our politicians. Obama is Obama, and the reps and the dems are who they want to be. But as Christians, should we follow their response, or Christ's?

Love it! Reminds me of two sections in scripture:

Romans 12:9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. 10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; 11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; 13 distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.

17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.
Then there is this one:

1 Cor 13:4 Love suffers long and is kind;
love does not envy;
love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own,
is not provoked, thinks no evil;
6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7
bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails.

Legal immigrant from where, may I ask? Tell us about your "first hand" experience with racist attitudes.Maybe we (I) will understand you better. :)

Perhaps.

Amen! Who cannot agree with this? Seriously??? What would happen if we all submitted to the Word of God in these two passages, especially in these kinds of discussions? I can only imagine.

No one has perfect submission in all things, except Jesus.

(And He's the only one who doesn't even need to, He's just leading by example for our benefit, and that we might not lose our life in Him that He won for us on the cross. He's doing all the work, here!)

However, in this case, surely we need all the help we can get???

I agree 100%. But truth is, it was mostly Christians that lost their minds over Obama.

Honestly I don’t know, usually these kinds of statements are made in a stereotypical blanket. I mean when a person says “white people do this or that” that includes me. I think people often tend to forget all the white people that died in the Underground Railroad and those who fought and died to free the slaves in the Union Army. I feel like in most cases white people today are grouped together with the wealthy plantation owners as if anyone alive today had anything to do with that era.

Im curious, where were all the racial threads before George Floyd? How many people here heard of BLM before the George Floyd tragedy? From what I saw in my everyday life racism was dead until the George Floyd incident. It seems like after that tragic event people are going crazy about it.
It was the straw that broke the camel's back. It reminded people of some really nasty times and people exploded because they don't know what else to do. They get back at society the only way that they know how to is my guess.

I brought this up because of the amount of CRT and race threads lately. I thought I was witnessing some phenomenon and then I heard this term 'White Rage" and thought I would throw it up there and see what"this mini-community" someone called it thinks.

Can you point to anyone on this forum does not have a certain...bias. I think each of us have inherent biases based on their belief systems. Certainly you do, do you not?

As for my family, we immigrated (legally) from Eastern Europe in 1941. Seems there where a whole bunch of white people identifying as part of the National Socialist Workers Party wanted us dead. My parents who were children at the time legally entered the US with their parents. My mother spent 6 months in a camp and my father 7 months before being allowed to enter.

If I chose to swell on events that were racist, I could share perhaps hundreds. I choose not to. Jesus set me free from that in 1985.

I've posted a lot about police misconduct and police violence well before the murder of George Floyd.

It was the straw that broke the camel's back.
That doesn't seem possible. What about the events near St. Louis (Ferguson, MO) that were very similar or the death of Eric Garner in New York who was selling individual cigarettes on the street?

It reminded people of some really nasty times and people exploded because they don't know what else to do.
Is that another claim that BLM and Antifa were just names given to spontaneous movements that jelled only because there was something special about George Floyd?

Your right, it happened, it happened again, then again, and again. Enter straw when Floyd was murdered in such a horrible way.

Everybody just had enough. The groups that were around but small just exploded when protesters kept showing up. Not everyone in a BLM protest is an active member of BLM. They announce a protest and people show up from all over geed and bad.
