The idea that not getting vaccinated somehow shows great faith or something is really insulting: to God, to the scientists, doctors, and other medical professionals working on developing and administering the vaccines, the ~3.9 million around the world who have died from virus so far, etc.

I miss the days when people who wanted to push their luck to show off for Jesus would take up snake-handling. That was dangerous too, but there's a certain containment to that kind of danger that sadly is not present in the vaccine-refusers preferred method of being better than the rest of us.

I would be careful of putting a flawed vaccine on God's porch. He gives us the raw materials to work with and we come up with some wicked things along the way. The pretext of "scientists, doctors, and other medical professionals working on developing and administering..." sounds good on principle. What of the scientists, doctors and medical professionals who sounded alarms about these experimental jabs? Real "science" MUST take their concerns seriously. "Vaccine-refusers" have a right to try and a right to refuse, despite all attempts at shaming them.

Who are these doctors and medical professionals? I can pretty much guarantee they are a tiny minority. Or, if they do have concerns, they will still be generally in favour of the vaccination program.

Let me point something out: just like other anti-vaxxers, you use vague language to try to support your argument - here you refer to "scientists, doctors and medical professionals who sounded alarms". Well, who are these people? What are their credentials?

"Vaccine-refusers" have a right to try and a right to refuse, despite all attempts at shaming them.
Not when they go about in public and expose the rest of us to the consequences of their reckless choices.

It's not a pretext. Nothing is helped by indulging heedlessness under the guise of God, and if you think your right of refusal (which yes, you absolutely do have in the absence of laws to the contrary) is somehow a right to endanger others, you are quite simply wrong. Governments actually do have the right to order and enforce quarantine and isolation on the population in order to contain the spread of diseases, such that any person's choice to not get vaccinated has real-world repercussions beyond any sense of shame they may feel, regardless of what or who they may attribute that to. (Read: it's not about how you emotionally react to being told you should be vaccinated -- it's about actually being vaccinated despite any personal hesitance, because the persistence of anti-vaccination rhetoric is one of the main things that is prolonging the pandemic and leading to the emergence of new, more dangerous variants in more and more places. So if you don't want to be shamed, you should be more willing to get the vaccine, not less.)

We have multiple COVID-19 vaccinations to get . I got mine . Why should I be punished because the brainwashed people refused to be grow-ups and do the right thing. And get COVID-19 vaccinations. Why should seniors citizens, disables and people, with health issues have to deal with brain washed people. No ,If you're refusing to be a a grown-up . You're the problem. Stop being brain washed. People shouldn't suffer because of the brainwashed /week people.
Why would you be punished if you already got the vaccine? What do you have to worry about?

I am surprised to keep seeing this question.

Since the vaccine is not 100% effective, even the fully vaccinated are placed at increased risk if people don't get vaccinated.

Furthermore, to the extent that non-vaccinated people end up in the hospital due to their own tempting of fate, they draw critical health care resources away from other people who are seriously ill with conditions other than Covid.

Well...if you are not comfortable being out and about even after being vaccinated, do yourself and everyone around you a favor and self quarantine until you do feel safe.

Well this looks like the game plan. First have the original virus, scare people into taking the vaccine. Then for the ones who are hesitant, to take the vaccine, introduce a scarier variety (delta, etc..). To further try and get the hesitant ones to take the vaccine, they originally would not take.

The gameplan is to protect human lives. There's no reason to go hunting for conspiracies when the surface story makes perfect sense. There's no reason to believe conspiracies when it would require the connivance of health officials from China and Chattanooga, Iran and Iowa.

He already believes that they're all in cahoots to hide the flat earth, and have been for the last 2500 years or so. This is a small-time conspiracy compared to that.

Well, at least you are consistent - you believe the earth is flat, why not believe something equally hare-brained?

Yep...pretty much. Now figure out how to cope with the reality that there are selfish people in this world. Or you can just hide in quarantine until all the selfish people get vaccinated. Up to you. By the way, I am not opposed to getting vaccinated. I just think it is foolish to spend the rest of your life living in fear. I hate to break the news to you, but the virus isn't going away. There will be a new strand after new strand every year like the flu. So learn to cope with it like I have.

Living in fear?

I suggest it is living without one's head planted firmly in the sand. How, and please answer this directly, does taking appropriate measures to protect oneself against a disease that has serious consequences (not least overwhelming the health care system - a consideration that appears of no consequence to you guys) constitute "living in fear"?

Because me and my fellow Californians have done such a great job getting vaccinated, the state has reopened this month. I've been to restaurants; I'm throwing a July 4th party. There's no fear here.

We (mostly) followed the rules. Ate our vegetables. Did our homework. Took one for the team. And now we get to do the end zone dance.

You are living in fear because other are not "taking appropriate measures". You see others as a threat, not the virus.
