Well, if you think not going on holiday is the same as dying what does that say about a similar comparison between your thwarted backpacking jolly and Christ’s death?

And... that's the end of our conversation. You do NOT ever cast doubt over my faith to manipulate your argument. I overlooked your weird attempt at sarcasm the first time - I didn't do that for you to come back and assassinate my character and belittle my faith.

And it wasn't a holiday you berk. I was actually out there rolling my sleeves up and volunteering on various projects while on leave from managing a 400 cow dairy herd.

Oh, yeah. I've been putting milk on your table for years. I'm not the entitled hipster you want me to be.

Australia is lucky, and the acted properly right at the start. They are a separate continent. Travel in and out of the country is by air or by sea. They were able to shut down on people coming in to the country and they had a very effective lockdown. The people are no more naturally immune than others are. They still need a vaccine if they want to fully reopen their country.

That acting properly seemed to be at all levels, including the vast majority of the people.

They and New Zealand were able to relax things, but then if there was an outbreak (meaning under a half dozen cases in a major city) lock down again until contact tracing made sure it would not spread.

Rather unlike the The British Islands or the States.

I recommend that everyone who isn't willing to risk being infected to self quarantine until they feel like it is safe again and let everyone else take the risk of keeping the world running.

The world can run just fine when people take reasonable precautions recommended by the CDC and other public health agencies.

oooh boy.

I am glad to see there has been a vigorous response to this nonsense.

Let me add this to the pile: I politely suggest that here we see a pernicious danger associated with a particular slice of Christian fundamentalism. Here is the issue: it is very tempting to seek out a world view that simplifies what we all would likely agree is a complex world. It is very compelling to believe that all we need to do is "trust God" and He will unerringly lead us down the right path.

This is obviously not how things work. Medical experts have invested years of often difficult study and training to learn how to treat human illness. And then there are the long, expensive trials and tests once a candidate therapy has been identified. No magic, no shortcuts - just hard, hard, work. And time and money. And backtracking when you make a mistake.

That is how humanity acquires knowledge, not by having it mystically downloaded from on high. I would love to believe in this other alternative - that all truth is disclosed directly to us. But, come on people, surely you know this is simply not how this world actually works.

The spirit of what we in this post (the one I am responding to) is no different than the spirit that deludes a very small number of Christians to play around with poisonous snakes on the naive belief they will not be bitten.

Those are all good points.

What I'm hearing from alot of Christians in the US increasingly lacks a real ethical core, but I can't say the same about what you have to say here.

It's one thing to have faith in a better life in the next world, another to use that faith as an excuse to engage in behaviors that would otherwise be reckless or irresponsible.

I think we can now both agree there's more than enough room in Mississippi for both liberals and conservatives.

Mississippi does have its share of liberals. more now than years ago. But being as rural as Mississippi is, it is mostly a conservative mind set for many.

No vaccine, no mask and no isolation for myself since this began and I am fine haven't had covid, I put my trust in God even been in hospitals whilst the virus was at its worst here the only vaccine I need is my faith in God id rather die than trust wolves in sheep's clothing if people cant see the deceitful fruit of the worlds leaders along with Bill Gates, WHO and UN they are the blind following the blind.

Or you would rather pontificate on not needing the vaccine that God created...

Rural and extremely poor.

I would imagine liberals aren't too common in Mississippi, considering their prisons are some of the most brutal and inhumane in all the US.

We have multiple COVID-19 vaccinations to get . I got mine . Why should I be punished because the brainwashed people refused to be grow-ups and do the right thing. And get COVID-19 vaccinations. Why should seniors citizens, disables and people, with health issues have to deal with brain washed people. No ,If you're refusing to be a a grown-up . You're the problem. Stop being brain washed. People shouldn't suffer because of the brainwashed /week people.
