I think every country should have an animal on its flag. Seriously.
I nominate the starling! Since we are a nation of immigrants we should be represented by a non-native species.

It was one pop musician and the reasoning given was worse than the look of the proposed flag itself.

The notion should have died on the vine immediately except that other people started talking about it as if it were a good idea.

....I see....not worth discussing...

No one who uses this flag (or a dozen other versions of it) supposes that it's a replacement for the national flag, nor are they advocating for Congress to replace the nation's flag with this one.
Well yeah, they had to go with the trump flag after beating police officers with that one.

Some people change it the the Blue Lives Matter flag, others to the LGBT flag, others spit on and burn the flag, yet others technically unlawfully wear the flag or use its likeness in a decorative way while complaining about the flag destroyers. Others almost worship the flag because of what it apparently stands for, while others condemn the flag for what it apparently stands for.

Personally, I'm so sick and tired of all the lunatics all the way around. When I see the US flag I know its sole purpose is to differentiate our country from others and I think nothing really of it. It's cloth; it's utterly meaningless in the grand scheme of things. They could change the flag tomorrow and I would still know that the Unites States of America is alive and I live in it.

I think flag designs should stick to simple geometric designs, shapes and patterns and bright contrasting colors. Less is more. Its design should be easy enough that a child could draw it well. A flag’s main purpose is to stand out and be easily identifiable from a distance. Putting too much detail into the design makes it cluttered and harder to tell from a ways away.

Speaking strictly from a design standpoint, the US flag could be a little better but at the same time, its design has become so iconic that I honestly can’t imagine it looking any other way.

What animal would go good on a US flag?

Starlings are clearly socialists! Any bird that flies as a flock can't possibly represent a country that values the individual.

As a pure design matter, I think I agree, which is why the Japan flag is the best design...:japan:

But there's other considerations beyond design, such as content. So whats a good USA flag animal? The bison is an obvious choice. Maybe too obvious. Perhaps it could be a rotating position. This year the manatee to highlight how we're killing them all off.
