First it was statues, then history, and now the flag

That article doesn't appear to say that there's a developing belief that the flag should be redesigned.

Rather, the news was that these people had been taught to dislike their country. There may be some logic in connecting those two thoughts, but the experience that was reported on doesn't say that anyone made it.

This is really the best faux moral outrage you could come up with? Some random person that I (and I'm betting most of the others here) have never heard of suggesting that we change the flag? (Without even elaborating on how it would be changed, either).

Does that somehow mean it's going to happen? Or are you just opposed to people even having ideas like that? Seems a bit Orwellian if it's the latter.

I remember a few years back, a bunch of people started a petition to change the national anthem to the "My Little Pony" theme song. Thousands of people actually signed that. Does that mean we have to worry about it actually happening?

The only way the flag is realistically going to be changed is if the number of states changes.

My little pony theme song! Don't be silly, we all know it should be Barney the dinosaur.

Or the third option, the land was empty and they came here by means of a land bridge that is now under the Bering Strait.

Well, good thing they didn't come by boat, or there would be an uproar about it.
But however they arrived, there aren't any history books indicating how they got here or if there were others here that they killed before they started turning on each other.

Some good DNA analyses might answer the second question...

I wonder why we haven't heard of these being done? o_O

Trouble is there are too many people who think the flag ought to go.

VIDEO: Students say the American flag symbolizes oppression

The far bigger problem is the pattern that it follows. It may be the flag now, but has already been and continues to be other things. Changing our history and traditions, which words we can use, what we're allowed to celebrate, what marriage is, racial equality being replaced with societal bigotry, personal and religious freedom being outlawed, the Press and social media now one-sided, election rules being tossed out, drug use that was illegal (or at least frowned upon) now legalized and celebrated.
As you can see, tearing down statues of people and great events traditionally celebrated, and labeling the American flag as a symbol of oppression are just following the same pattern.

They're afraid the science won't give them the answer they want to hear.
