“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” (Prov 3:5).

I came across this sentence and I own up to agree to it:

“On no account be certain about anything, because the wisdom starts out as doubt.”.

After all:

• “Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth. And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.”.(1Cor 8.1,2)
• “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.” (Prov 3.5-8).

It is the doubt that urge us to approach of Jesus instead of to try to do all for ourselves.

God's law is truth (Psalms 119:142), so it divides between what is true and false. However, when our desire enters the picture, then it causes true and false to become good and evil and clouds our judgement so that we aren't sure if something is truly good or if we just think that it is good because we desire it. As such, we can't rely on our own understanding what we think is good, but need to put our faith in God's law to guide us in what is true.
