HOLY, HOLY, HOLY...!

It's never occured to me before, but with these words the Angels describe God. Three times they say it, and after putting 2 and 2 together, it has just today occured to me that the Angels of the old testament were describing "God in Three Persons"...

...And I learned it from this song:

Isaiah 6:3

In Hebrew to add emphasis to a word they repeat it, usually twice. AS in the KJV "Verily, verily". Repeating something a 3rd time is only used for the most extreme of circumstances. Its not talking to God on in 3 persons, its saying God is REALLY, REALLY, Holy

I didn't create this thread for people to critique... I created it for people to share things they've just learned or thought of recently.

In the book of John it teaches that Jesus is the light. And around the first few chapters about j the b it teaches what is not the light or what the light isn’t. Then that gets your appetite for what the light is and fills us all the rest of the book with the words of Jesus. And with the treasury of Scriptural Knowledge where it has scriptures for every part of the verses; these relate and mostly explain what the parts are not, to explain what they are.

I certainly dont mean it in a nasty way, but by saying you have learned something you are saying it is true, however your understanding is according to what I've been taught factually incorrect. By saying you've "learned" it other people reading it may think you are factually correct so my comment was only intended for people to know the factual reason why it is repeated 3 times.

No, it's fine... I realize the nature of the forum, for the most part, leans toward people asking something, or making a statement about their beliefs, and then others get a chance to prove those beliefs wrong, while presenting their beliefs as the truth... That's quite typical, and not out or the ordinary at all... It's just that I was trying to do something different here.

But as an honest question to yourself, or to anybody, does anyone here really think that with all the different denominations we're going to convince all the other denominations that *our* truths are the right ones, and everyone else's truths are the wrong truths? And if not, why do we feel it's important to try?

I'm genuinely curious.

That's why I attempted to create something different. I would liken this thread to a kind of expressway to learn true, and/or untrue things that other people believe, without the headache of having to defend or debate. I guess in my view, not everything discussed on the forum necessarily needs to be in debate forrm.

It could be that I presented this thread in the wrong sub-forum. My only true goal was to keep it out of the Discussion and debate (Christians only), because that was the opposite of what I was trying to achieve.

...In all honesty, I thought I was in Theology (Christians only). I must have accidentally put it in Scriptures.

I was looking through the ABC news page when I came across this item.

'One of the most traumatic experiences': YouTube helped Benjamin leave his church

A few things loomed out at me. The first was the mistrust younger people have for religious authority figures these days (in Australia anyway - and we've never been a religious nation).

One researcher labelled our young people "apatheists" or apathetic atheists - they're just not interested.

Over the phone, religion researcher Dr Ibrahim Abraham from the Australian National University confirms the atheists’ sentiments are shared by many people around the country.

But he prefers to use a different term to “atheist” when talking about young Australians more broadly.

“The term to describe most young Australians would be ‘apatheists’ — the combination of apathy and atheism. They’re just not interested in religion,” he says.

Another was the way the local culture rubs off on people regardless of religion -

The surfing imam

Osman Boyaci says he didn’t plan on becoming a religious leader — “never in a million years”.

“All I was focused on was becoming a soccer player.”

But after a major knee injury, he followed a family friend’s curveball suggestion to study in Turkey to become an imam.
...

“I surf, so when I go to the Northern Beaches at the crack of dawn, there are people sitting on the beach meditating, which is a wonderful thing. They’re trying to find inner peace.”

It looks like those of us of a religious bent, who still believe regardless of the failings of some priests and bishops, and other authority figures, have some thinking to do. I go to a psychiatrist a few times a year, mainly to talk about spiritual issues. He's remarked several times that among the blue collar and middle class people, there's still a sense of God, but they're cynical about "religion".

That's an excerpt from the Australian scene.

Have you all noticed that Jesus is not a direct decendant of king David or Adam. The Jewish decendants are declared through the male line and who is Jesus' father? It is the Holy Spirit. God pointed out to me that Jesus was adopted into the line of king David and Adam just as we are adopted into the family of God once we are saved. I thought this was neat.

God bless

Remember the account of Abraham about to sacrifice his son, his only son, Isaac. It was on the way to the Mountain in Moriah that Isaac asks his father where the offering is...all else needed they had along with them. Abraham, in faith, replies that the LORD would provide the offering...as the LORD indeed did provide for them after the testing of Abraham's faith. Then Genesis continues: So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.” (Genesis 2:14)
Mt Moriah later became the location of Jerusalem where Jesus was sacrificed for our sins. Such rich prophesy and symbolism...such profundity...found only in the Word, it is unmatched by any other source...so beautiful! And so faithful is our God over the days, years and centuries!
Well this is not real new to me, but it still feels new so thought I'd share it here.
