Luke Chapter 11 verses 24 to 27.
I do not understand this at all. Is it literally about exorcism of evil spirits or could this apply in general to addictions or sins? Like if a person overcomes alcohol or drug addiction but then relapses even worse if they give in and relapse?

How do i apply this that Jesus taught, to my own life?

I consider that Jesus explained what is happening in evil realm, as he said in Luke 11:24-26

Start by backing up one verse.
Luke 11:23 He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters.

1 John 2:24 Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what
you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.

People came from far and wide to find Jesus and get what they were seeking: healing,
deliverance, restoration. How many came to serve Him? Many come to the altar at the
offer of going to heaven when they die, but will they serve Him?
Will they
gather with Him? This is to apply His teaching.
Many are called, but few are chosen.

We should look at the parallel passage in Matthew which sheds more light on what Jesus Christ of Nazareth was talking about. The demise of unfaithful Israel. Blessings.

43 “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. 44 Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. 45 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.”

"But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived." (2 Timothy 3:13)

So, a person might get rid of a demon or some problem, but he or she then can still become worse if the person's character has not been changed by God.
