This is the "party of life"?

In secret recording, Florida Republican threatens to send Russian-Ukrainian ‘hit squad’ after rival

(Some disguised profanity at the link.)

During a 30-minute call with a conservative activist that was recorded before he became a candidate, GOP candidate William Braddock repeatedly warned the activist to not support GOP candidate Anna Paulina Luna in the Republican primary for a Tampa Bay-area congressional seat because he had access to assassins. The seat is being vacated by Rep. Charlie Crist (D-Fla.), who is running for governor.

“I really don't want to have to end anybody's life for the good of the people of the United States of America,” Braddock said at one point in the conversation last week, according to the recording exclusively obtained by POLITICO. “That will break my heart. But if it needs to be done, it needs to be done."

Between Braddock and Gaetz, Florida has so much to be proud of!

Hi all,

I know that there are a lot of Republicans running around, but personally, their party representatives seem to have decidedly more than their fair share of looneys.

God bless,
Ted

The real question to ask concerning this development is this: "What does the Republican Party of Florida think of the matter?" Has there been criticism or disavowal of this candidate...or has their been silence? I don't know the answer because I didn't know of this person previously, but that's the question.

As we know, Pelosi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and third in line to the Presidency, won't condemn anti-Semitism from elected and sitting members of Congress (!) so long as they are members of her political party, so we know very well how that works. The question here about the Florida incident is "What is the comparison?

The answer to that will tell all of us more about what's going on and what should be done in response than just using the event in order to find fault with the man's political party as it appears was the reason this thread was created.

Even if that were true (which I remain unconvinced), it's not in the same league as threatening a rival politician. Anti-semitism isn't illegal in the US. Making death threats most certainly is.

Well, that's the issue, regardless. It goes to the matter of integrity.

it's not in the same league as threatening a rival politician. Anti-semitism isn't illegal in the US.
And yet that standard appears to have been brought forth only in order to have an alibi for the fact I referred to in my post.

If we remember, ALL SORTS of perfectly legal doings on the part of conservatives, Republicans, or just plain ordinary citizens have been made to look like cardinal sins and "attacks upon democracy" (a conveniently vague charge) when the shoe was on the other partisan foot. But now the alibi for race hatred on the part of people who have been elected to important positions in our government (unlike the situation in Florida) is supposed to be "it's not in the same league,..."

Surely the most disturbing thing here is not the threat of assassination, but the total lack of patriotism of GOP Candidate William Braddock. He asserts he has access to a Russian-Ukranian hit squad. What's wrong with an American hit squad? He is right there in Florida, where arguably the finest hit squads in the world are available, yet he opts for cheap foreign imports. Has the man no shame?
