Has anyone noticed the massive surge in violence, I mean there has always been violence but lots of crazy stuff going down. Kids shooting cops, parents murdering with savage means, it's getting weird but most of all it's like the season has changed. The air is heavier like someone breathing down your neck. It is unsettling and uncomfortable. Does anyone else notice this or am I paranoid?

I've been an observer of it for years. Older people have always complained about the younger generation "with their hairdos and their sporty cars and their newfangled ideas". But nowadays it's "their rapes and their murders and their abortions and their fatal venereal diseases...". Oftentimes when you bring it up in conversation the ones promoting it will actually try to blame Christianity for it.

Seems the world is set in perpetual fellowship with the Accuser himself. This armchair high-ground attack is what emboldens the principle legions behind the faces of promotion-o-plenty.

I hardly understand how anyone cannot notice it! We live an hour from Cleveland, OH...and yesterday I heard that per capita, Cleveland is the #2 most dangerous City in America! Akron, an hour and 20 minutes South of me, is the #5 most dangerous City! You are not "paranoid"....sadly, this is REALITY. I don't believe it's going to get any better before Jesus comes.....

Every time I bring this up I get virtual shoulder shrugs from fellow Christians. People say that society has always been this way and that "things are as they have always been"—which is a fulfillment of the 2 Peter 3:3-4 prophecy. It's the same skepticism that people had before the flood.

We're fast approaching the tribulation. These are just the birth pains. Imagine what it will be like when things kick into high gear. Scary stuff.

And it isn't just societal decay.

The southwest is under a severe drought.
'Dire Situation': Silicon Valley cracks down on water use as California drought worsens.

Animals dying or with diseases.
Birds are dying and going blind and experts don't know why.

Earthquakes.
Dutchsinse YouTube channel (in-depth earthquake reports)
Google: Earthquakes

Volcano eruptions.
Global Volcanism Program

Floods.
Flash flood threat persists for Mid-Atlantic and South

Wars and rumors of wars.
China to Taiwan: Prepare for War

These are just a few sources I picked at random (minus Dutchsinse, I am subscribed to his channel).

There are so many things going on that, if you were to take the time to compile it all on a daily basis, it would be a full time job. It would then become apparent, even to the most skeptic, that we're living in the last days. The decay of society is just one aspect of the whole picture.

Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

Speaking of which...

This is a big year for cicadas in my area (Ohio). I've lived here my whole life and I've never seen so many cicadas. They are so loud in the trees above where I live that when I go out to the car I have to hold my fingers in my ears. Dead carcasses of cicadas litter the sidewalk.

I visited a local metro park last week and there were so many cicadas that the whole area had a constant loud drone. The sidewalks were covered with dead or dying cicadas, smashed by pedestrian shoes. The smell was something between warm garbage and dead animal. Everywhere you looked you saw cicadas.

Now I'm no expert, but I've never seen this many cicadas in my life. Ever. Growing up, I might see one or two here and there. I might find a skin hanging on a tree and a rare cicada. Now, you have them flying into your windshield, hitching rides on your car, flying down and landing on you.

I'm aware of the 17 year cycle. It's just unusual to me how many there are. I guess it's normal.

Update: Here's a map of cicada broods and their emerging years. Mine is Brood X.

the massive surge in violence
First pray; with God we have power to bring the good which God is able to do. And good example works.

Beware of where our attention is going. Trust God to guide our attention; stay with Him and how He rules us in His peace >

"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful." (Colossians 3:15)

This is in our basic calling . . . "in one body" . . . as children of God. Do not allow evil to isolate you and have you mainly worrying about yourself and your own country. But we are family, in Jesus; share with others who are God's people. Do not get isolated in worrying about your own self and family.

Satan's kingdom works to make people weak, including by keeping their attention to what is bad, and to threats, and keeping us emotionally in wrong stuff.

"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you." (Ephesians 4:31-32)

So, we need to feed on what God wants us to do, and not just be busy with looking at what people in Satan's kingdom are doing, :)supposing we can control them:)

First, then, be submissive to God and discover what He has us doing in His creativity for how to love each and every person; and we are guaranteed how He is able to succeed in all He is committed to doing with us.

No you are not paranoid.

Revelation 8:13
And as I observed, I heard an eagle flying overhead, calling in a loud voice, "Woe! Woe! Woe to those who dwell on the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the remaining three angels!"

Woe is us until the return of Jesus.

Scripture describes a process a person undergoes who has "suppressed the truth in unrighteousness," denying the God who made them, embracing self-idolatry instead. It's a grim description of the path of reprobation that ends ultimately in the torment of eternal hell. Since a nation is constituted of individuals, it stands to reason that what is true of the individual will reflect itself in some measure in the society of which they are a part. A single individual won't, of course, have the same degree of reflection within their society as a large group will. A great numbers of individuals within a society taking up the same or similar philosophies and behaviours will result in a profound effect upon that society.

In the case of western nations, there has been a widespread and sustained departure from God and so what Romans 1 details of the fall of the God-rejecting person can now be seen taking place within these nations as a whole. Forty years ago the ideology of Critical Theory was still considered relatively fringe, the silly, irrational notions of the foul and fiendish Karl Marx. But a prolonged process of dumbing-down the population through a variety of means has left modern nations (generally) without the wherewithal to properly discern and dissect the convoluted language through which Critical Theory manifests its destructive notions today. Championed by the modern, popular media (news, Hollywood, music, etc.), to which several generations now have been conditioned to carefully attend, Critical Theory has been widely and aggressively disseminated throughout these nations, invigorating the process laid out in Romans 1, accentuating the irrationality and danger of it.

The heart of the problem, though, isn't Critical Theory in all its warped forms, but a rejection of God. Inasmuch as God is the Ground of All Reality, the Source of all Truth, to depart from Him is necessarily to move away from reality and truth into illusion, delusion and darkness. This journey away from God, whether it be on the individual level or the national, always involves what Paul in Romans 1 explained:

Romans 1:21
21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

Denying God, refusing His will and way, is its own judgment. God knows that the route away from Him that a person or society takes leads always to delusion and destruction (James 1:14-15; Romans 6:23; Galatians 6:7-8) In order to judge and punish a wicked, God-hating nation, He need do nothing more, then, than allow the migration from Him to proceed unchecked. The farther the nation moves from Him, the more delusion and its resulting harm manifest and deepen.

This is what many Christians are observing these days. The "Christian nation" has disappeared and in its place the great "secular nation" has arisen, thinking to exist apart from the One who is the Source of all Truth and Light. But God has warned that the human heart is "desperately wicked" (Jeremiah 17:9). In a secular nation, however, the apex of all things is the human being. What nation can grow from such awful ground? Well, we're in the middle of finding out. And, so far, what Romans 1 delineates is what is happening. Gratefulness (to God, first of all) has been overtaken by an inordinate sense of entitlement. Most North Americans feel they are owed an education, a good job and comfort and ease; they deserve wealth, success and happiness. The futility and foolishness of North American society generally is astounding! Denial of the reality of the two sexes, dissolution of the God-ordained institution of marriage, assault on the nuclear family, rampant infanticide, hyper-violence, gross sexual perversion, and bald-faced Satanism in entertainment (movies, music, t.v.), refusal to face China and defend against the war it has openly declared upon the States in particular, and the world in general. And so on. North American societies are quickly unravelling and in the increasing vacuum and tumult of the absence of a God-centered stabilizing core, these societies will grasp at anything for a solution, however evil, if the promise of peace and security is held out. Enter: Totalitarianism, either religious or secular, and the horrifying death and oppression that always follows. Think of Stalinist Russia, or any conservatively-Islamic country, or North Korea, or Cuba, Venezuela, the CCP in China - the list goes on.

Romans 1:22-23
22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools,
23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

The examples of fools claiming to be wise these days are myriad! Whether its Stephen Hawking claiming that nothing can produce something, or Bruce Jenner claiming he's a woman, or some obscenely-wealthy, world-famous, black, NBA star claiming America is basically racist, or a politician claiming she's a completely different race than she is just because she feels that she is, foolishness masquerading as wisdom abounds.

Idol worship, too, has never been more common than in today's western cultures. Not figures carved of wood or stone, but multitudinous expressions of the worship of Self. Food, sports, fashion, travel, money, sex - the list of things people worship today goes on and on. At bottom, though, the real "god" of modern, western nations is the individual.

Romans 1:24-28
24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves,
25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature;
27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.

What Paul the apostle described here is perhaps no more clearly observed than in the music industry. Never has popular music been more rife with demonic foulness than it is today. Sexual filth, violence, and open worship of demons is now common in mainstream popular music. Two recent prominent examples are: Cardi B's "WAP" and Lil NasX's "Call Me By Your Name." I have not watched nor listened to either of these vile songs (and videos) but the reports I have heard about them made me gape in horror. Both are prime examples of the "debased mind" and "dishonorable passions" that grip those who have walked away from the Ground of All Reality, Light and Truth. And it's not just these two disgusting "artists" who demonstrate the deep depravity of the person caught in the process of Romans 1, but all of their fans, too, who idolize them (Cardi B actually performed her vile song at the Grammy Awards), and the rest of the nation that shrugs their shoulders at them in passive, careless indifference.

Romans 1:29-32
29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,
30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,
31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.
32 Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

A nation that is filled with the sort of people Paul described here cannot cohere, it cannot sustain itself. A nation of evil, covetous, malicious, murderous, deceitful people, slanderous, hateful, arrogant and foolish, is a nation that can't help but dissolve, the individual members of it unavoidably at vicious odds with one another as a consequence of their pathological reprobation. And so, North America is boiling with riots, murder and mayhem; with totalitarian politicians; with lying propaganda machines posing as reliable sources of news; with racist black academics writing editorials calling for the eradication of all white men; with rising anti-Semitism; with mass-shootings; with invasions described as "mass migration," with the legal murder of babies that survive abortion.

And the devil laughs.

The remedy for all of this is a return of the people of western nations to the One who made us, in repentance, humility, confession and dependence. Half-measures will not do. It is not enough merely to look God's way, to give Him token acknowledgement; we must yield anew to His will and way every day, all day, calling upon Him to rule in our hearts, lives and nations. First, though, the Church, the Bride of Christ, that has played the adulteress, making friends with the World and its evil god (James 4:4; 2 Corinthians 4:4) must cleanse and fully separate itself unto Christ, forsaking its deep compromises with the Great Enemies of the saints of God: the World, the Flesh and the devil. (Ephesians 2:1-3)

Really? Are you serious? That makes no sense. It's like, I don't understand the Jewish hate movement. They pose no threat to anyone! I've never lost sleeps saying " I wonder if those Jews will get me!"

Are they locusts? Would the Bible call them locusts? I wondered how you guys were handling their emergence. I don't like bugs so I would not fare well with them. Some news outlets are encouraging people to eat them.

See and that is what I don't see how the United States who says in God we Trust can have the powers that be take EVERYTHING that God despises ( lust, greed, pride, envy, idolatry, violence, theft, gluttony, inappropriate contentography, homosexuality, indecency) and make it the lifestyle of the culture of the nation and no one has said anything and everyone allowed it- basically proving that our freedom is actually Freedom from God.
That Freedom in this world comes at a cost in the spiritual world and I fear that the US has sold her soul and I don't want any part of it!

Yes. Its the daily mass shootings thats making me take notice.
See and a lot of that is planned because they want obvious reasons to take our guns to make us comply. For me it is obvious when there is no motive and the suspect kills themselves. Those are planned through mind control and CIA stuff. I remember awhile back someone whistle blew a mass shooting at a mall and said they were hired to stage it and then he got killed.

Are they locusts? Would the Bible call them locusts? I wondered how you guys were handling their emergence. I don't like bugs so I would not fare well with them. Some news outlets are encouraging people to eat them.

No, they're not the same as locusts. Locusts look like grasshoppers. Here's an article on the difference.

They're mostly just noisy critters that emerge every 13 or 17 years (depending on the brood) to breed. When they emerge, they make a lot of noise, hang out in trees and generally focus on mating, laying eggs and then dying. They don't seem to care where they die, so you'll find dead cicadas everywhere. They also molt, so you will find their skins attached to trees and branches. They're easy to get a close look at, because they aren't afraid of humans. When you look at them closely, you can see their little eyes staring up at you. They are harmless and don't bite. The noise they make is a loud rattle. They do it in unison and the sound waxes and wanes.

Here are a couple pics I took last weekend. Notice how they keep their eye on you.

Does anyone else notice this or am I paranoid?
My opinion > yes, what you are saying could be paranoid . . . at least somehow > and I'll offer my personal reason why, going with scriptures >
For me it is obvious when there is no motive and the suspect kills themselves. Those are planned through mind control and CIA stuff. I remember awhile back someone whistle blew a mass shooting at a mall and said they were hired to stage it and then he got killed.
First, you are not paranoid to see that this world is evil. And yes there is conspiring, because Satan's kingdom has conspiracies in various ways, not only what conspiracy people are claiming. Because Satan is the father of lying > John 8:44.

A main conspiracy of Satan's kingdom is not stuff like the claim of a faked moon landing or the government conditioning people.

The real conditioning problems are stuff like training people's attention to stay with the media and news and advertised enjoyments and politics, versus staying attentive to God and how He personally rules each of us in His own peace.

"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful." (Colossians 3:15)

And there is Satan's conspiracy to train men to evaluate women by what they look like, not to make sure with God and be guided by God in how they relate with women and whom they marry.

And there is the conspiracy to keep people's attention tied up with looking for and proving conspiracies which do not exist. And if certain conspiracies really do not exist, then ones trying to prove them never will, and so their attention will stay "there" to no end . . . versus first staying attentive to God Himself and submitting to Him all the time in His own peace.

Even if every claimed conspiracy does exist . . . I myself am not a personal Christian witness to those claims. And Satan's people are liars, by nature, even lying about who Jesus is; so I can't be sure about things they say. And I have to assume whom I can trust, if I do not personally know a claimed witness. And does this have my attention first to submitting to God all the time in His peace?

And am I attentive to learning how to love each and every person the way Jesus wants? >

"if you love those who love you, what reward have you?" (in Matthew 5:46)

Jesus doesn't say to keep looking around at all the evil; Jesus says "look up" >

"'Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.'" (Luke 21:28)

So, when these evils "begin" > "look up". Right away, "look up and lift up your heads". I think this means to start by being uplifted because of God who is our most real circumstance and atmosphere in His love.

Another thing > if God really considers the unborn to be people, then our attention is being tricked away from how millions of . . . people . . . in the United States have been murdered in abortion places, for years . . . decades, I suppose. But when three or four people get shot . . . all of a sudden the ones into killing unborn Americans can make a major turmoil . . . while they are killing so many more, every day.

And you point out how there are shooters who kill themselves after doing a "mass murder" of fewer people than one team might kill in one day in an abortion place.

But there is what I call "suicide of love". If I kill my unborn, I am killing someone with whom I could learn how to love. And I am cooperating with unloving people who are pressuring and tormenting me to become a killer. So I am killing my soul from finding out how to love. The suicide is not only physical, but of my soul.

But notice how attention is taken away from this, including by a lot of people who claim the Bible. So, do people really believe what they claim, about the unborn being people in the eyes of God?

If people let Satan play their attention, it looks like we can be taken anywhere, and not even see the main problems. Ones just do not give attention to the killing of millions of unborn, just do not pay attention to how men are so deeply degraded that they evaluate women by what they look like, then become hooked on inappropriate content . . . so many claiming to be Christians, yet unable to deeply love a woman so our attention stays to this, instead of merely using women for pleasure.

The gender confusion and ways of preference for pleasure and abortion and inappropriate content and mass shootings are a product of how people with children don't even know how to relate the way God's word says. So, children grow up not knowing how to love, then they can break down to all the stuff we see. Unsure and unstable love is pandemic so people do not know how to love, and therefore they did not benefit from being home with each other during the COVID pandemic. Ones are not satisfied by love; but they are trying to find love, instead of starting satisfied with with God in His love so we can't be tricked into all the nonsense of trying to find what many people do not have.

Paranoia has us mainly concerned about our own selves, our own country, instead of caring about others as ourselves. And with this comes keeping records of all the evil and trying to expose it so we can defend ourselves against it. So, paranoia has us on the defensive and attentive to how things are going for our own lives.

But "faith working through love" (Galatians 5:6) has us attentive first to God, and therefore so encouraged because of God. Then discover all the good He has us doing in sharing with Him and one another as His family.

But my paranoia has me mainly isolated with myself and what I can boast that I can do to expose . . . someone else's evil . . . and defend myself against it - - versus exposing my own self, then denying myself and taking up my cross daily and following Jesus (Luke 9:23) . . . my attention to Him and how He is able.

They sound just like locusts. They leave their shell behind as well and they are like perfect replicas of themselves but are light brown and see through. Locusts make that loud hum also.. Are

1) We're all plugged into the instantaneous news cycle, thanks to the Internet. We see bad stuff happening all over the world now, right after it's happened -- or even during. 40 years and prior to that, 90% of what we see in the news today, we never would've found out about it.

2) The current situation was predicted by John Adams. The U.S. Constitution's "anchor" was the collective Christian morality of the nation's people. (Morality means not only right behavior, but also swift punishment for wrong behavior -- like the same afternoon the crime was committed.) With that morality essentially gone now, the Constitution is little more than a historical curiosity.

3) Everything we see today is just one more wide-scale flare-up of human misbehaviors that have taken place throughout humanity's existence, beginning in Genesis 3. It's cyclical. Realize that the ability and authority to misbehave and to act against its own best interests was coded into humanity's DNA right from the start. And so, these cycles of misbehavior and subsquent repentance must occur. It's just that we who are alive now happened to get caught somewhere between the beginning and middle of the misbehavior phase of the current cycle.

With all that said, none of this bothers me all that much. It was bound to happen; it was just a matter of time. Read Robert Bork's "Slouching Toward Gomorrah."

What you see around you now, you can file it all under "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet." Lay in a good supply of popcorn and beverages, 'cause you're going to need plenty of both as you watch this all unfold.

"There's nothing new under the son", people were doing the same things during the time of Moses, God said their thoughts and actions were perpetually evil, even after their destruction, Noah's descendants and subsequent generations still sinned in all kinds of ways possible. That's human nature and the more apart we are from God, the more that nature rears its ugly head.
