I started practicing meditation and all the new age bologna, and it very quickly brought me right to God. "knock, and He will answer" indeed. So in the meditations, or prayer, He sometimes shows me great images, or teaches me amazing lessons. It is hard to explain to people, when I try, it's almost the way we try to explain a dream, which in our world most of it sounds nonsensical, or there is communication without words used. This is how I know the difference, there is this communication in the Spirit. One afternoon I felt God tell me "get ready to write" I felt this surge about it- randomly. I assumed it was in general, I write short stories and poetry. However, I began writing whatever He told me. It was a lot and somehow He will give me a name, or words I've never heard, or words in other languages. I have to look them up and am stunned when they actually are something, because when I read it, it looks like gibberish. I feel that is confirmation, as well as I will ask for Bible verses to confirm. Usually they are spot on, sometimes I am not so sure. I was wondering if anyone else has had experience like this, or knows how to tell it is really Him- there have been times He firmly tells me it is, and to stop doubting, so then I feel guilty for doubting- I think I just doubt myself, and my understandings.

My other question was to do with physical sensation. I often will feel chills, change in the atmosphere (usually in a good way) ears intensely will ring, and most commonly, and most intensely, my wrists get a strange sensation- almost weak, or ticklish, it is hard to explain, but it is intense and it always grabs my attention, I'm just not sure what it means?

Hello sister, and welcome to the CF!

Sounds like you may have the gift of prophecy and discernment perhaps!

I would rejoice in His gifts and use them to edify His Body.

It's always wise to pray Proverbs 3:5-6; acknowledging Him in these experiential ways and trusting that He Will continue to direct you as to how they fit in to the good works He has prepared for you to do.

Hello @BelleMem, first off, since I see that you are a new member, WELCOME TO CF

I must say that I am fascinated and would like to hear more about your path to God via New Age meditation. How did that work exactly (if you don't mind me asking)?

Thanks :)

God bless you! (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24)

--David
p.s. - I thought I should also mention that "Christian" meditation is VERY different than its Eastern/New Age counterpart, as Christian meditation always begins and ends with Scripture, and it always involves filling a very active mind (rather than emptying it).

Christian meditation has been compared to a cow chewing the cud. Here's another article about it, and some additional links to similar articles that may be useful as well (at the bottom of the following article) .. What is Christian meditation? | GotQuestions.org

Psalm 1
1 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.

Greetings, BelleMem.

Automatic writing isn't a gift of the Holy Spirit, it's unfortunately a demonic one. So if you are seeking to be used by the One True God of scripture, I would not give myself to that practice.

God bless,

If what you write and experience is edifying to you and/or others and in line with Scripture, I would say it is a gift and blessing. Further I believe asking God in prayer for His guidance in these matters, would be wise.

thank you! I had gone through a mentally abusive relationship, and a dark period of time so I hit a rock bottom/ fork in the road moment and turned to taking care of myself through these new age recommendations, which helped a lot to lure me out of it. I also did yoga daily, and have always had very vivid intense dreams full of symbolic references. (that's for another thread haha) - Anyway, yoga led me to meditation, and like you said it more naturally filled my very active mind.
My favourite meditation that sort of re awakened me in Christ, was that I was brought to a peaceful field and was met by a man. He showed me a little stream and had me pay attention to the stones within it. He reminded me visually and conceptually of Luke 21:6. I watched each stone, all different sizes, shapes, colours etc. Some stayed on the bottom, the heavy ones, and the light ones flowed along with the water. He let me see that we are the stones- Some are stuck, weighed down and fighting the current. Some are light and floating right with it easily. My eye followed the stones that were moving and noticed they were headed toward a cliff, which made me tense and panicked for a moment. My very human response was met with the man smiling tenderly, he said "what's usually on the other side of falling water?" and immediately I said and saw "Paradise" Waterfall, flowers, beauty, peace, all of it. It was this message that the heavier we let ourselves become, the more we fight the current of the Holy Spirit- the longer it takes us to make that imperative 'leap' of faith. Although we can't see it from this end, the leap leads to paradise.

It was one in a series of moments God spoke to me about taking a full 'leap' into faith, and to Trust in Him FULLY. To let go of my guilts, worries, and the like because now I follow Him. Now, below someone said the words I'm getting are demonic. I am not saying they aren't, however I pray over them, and although I'm confused, I don't feel like they are. At least not all of them. I obviously don't ~know~ which is why I ask in the first place. I am trying to learn, and praying for a strong spirit of discernment as these things are seemingly easy for me to tap into.

Thank you for your warm welcome, and the Psalm, much appreciated !!

When this happens what sort of message is conveyed to you? Do you feel these experiences are bringing you closer to Jesus?

I do pray over them, and some of them make more sense to me when I go back and read them later, as well as dreams that have stuck with me, that make more sense now than they did years ago. I am not incredibly familiar with the Bible and have a selective memory, so I am usually stunned when verses I ask for to confirm the writing or the times we are in, are so spot on. If I have ever asked the Holy Spirit for anything- He d e l i v e r s, and usually in a way I wouldn't have imagined. He will speak to me in every day outings etc but it is because I also speak to Him. I believe He gives us all gifts, but at the same time, we must ask for Him to show them to us, and be vulnerably open to Him. So yes, I would say they have strengthened my relationship with Jesus immensely.

This is what Christian forums are good for. The arguing never accomplishes much, but sharing about common experiences can sometimes shed light on our own situations.

About automatic writing, I once had a dear friend on this forum who practiced it, and said she once had boxes of it stashed away somewhere. I saw some of it that she sent me pictures of, and unfortunately the subject matter was regarding Gnosticism, which was a very dangerous and heretical sect during New Testament times that was leading true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ away from genuine Christianity and into occult heresy and deception. I have since (and I don't want to scare you here, but I am just sharing what I have seen and experienced) received dreams about this woman that she has a very powerful demon in her that she still hasn't gotten rid of. It appeared in dreams as the creature "IT" from the 2017 remake film. Very demonic. I also received dreams that I cannot help this woman until she lets go of this spirit. It is using her and what I believe may be acquaintances of hers to preach Gnosticism on another forum now, and until she wants to be delivered from that demon I am sitting here with my hands tied.

But having said all that, don't think I am being judgmental over you personally. I'm simply warning you of things I know concerning the matter first hand. I also fully believe that it will be increasingly promoted during the end-times as a spiritual gift "from God" when in fact it will not be.

Anyway, God bless, and thanks for sharing your thoughts. I wish you the very best. One thing I can assure you of is this: If you pray to the Lord Jesus Christ (and by that I mean He who was born in the flesh, was crucified, and was raised up on the third day, and ascended to be with the Father, the God of the Old Testament after His resurrection), He will without question reveal to you the truth if you believe He will and keep asking Him to.

Be blessed, and stay safe.

I just have to continue to pray to not get misled, or 'tricked' into things being from Him if they aren't- all the comments on here have been helping me to ask the right questions, and it's nice speaking to a Christian community.

Is it? Where is more information on that? How did I 'get' it?

I will post a few links for you that you might find helpful. Most of the links you will find by Occultists will speak favorably of the "gift." Many of the links written by Christians however will not.

That is the very type of thing I am trying to be wary of becoming, thank you for sharing. I only have shared my words with my parents, I don't want to claim anything falsely or that can be misinterpreted. A lot of the time I feel they are for me personally anyway. Did she explain to you how the process is for her? How it feels etc? I will say 90% of it is cryptic words, or numbers. Or just a single word, (again, sometimes in another language) and I have to investigate the meaning. He will carry on to say things that He is the Holy Father, The Prince of Peace etc- there are times when it is consecutively like a clear message too. But even then, sometimes it's in strange riddle type communication, or a song will come to mind randomly.

No, only that her hand would take off by itself, but you could tell by the handwriting that it was not a very graceful thing. Rather erratic-looking, but readable.

Yes. On one of the pages I saw, there was written a name. Very different, occult-sounding woman's name. So I went researching on the internet, and the only place I found information on it was at an occult resource.

Speaking of which, here is a link on the subject from an occult source. While they downplay the presence of the demonic, the fact that they encourage the practice as a means if contacting "the dead" should be a warning sign. That's called necromancy, and it is specifically forbidden by God in scripture (Deuteronomy 18:10-11).

interesting- I will look into that. I definitely don't believe I am hearing from any 'dead' entity, nor do I seek to be. I will say one of the names I got was 'OSHO' - never heard of it- but googled it and it was also linked to the occult/new age. I didn't like his quotes which were nice enough on a surface level, but if you really break them apart they were very anti Christian, and basically glorifying the self, and ego

Warning sign #2. :)

You're doing a good thing by opening up and being up front about it. I find some are afraid they might look bad in front of others if they discuss such things, but all of us have been involved in one thing or another, and while there may be some Christians who are judgmental and condemning of those with such experiences, some of the strongest testimonies of God's power and deliverance have come from people involved in the occult (knowingly or unknowingly). Not saying you are THAT deeply involved in it, LoL, but just that the Lord could use your testimony if you keep pursuing Him about this, and then use you to help others understand it better as well.

Thanks, I am human and flawed and don't try to hide that haha- I have unknowingly done occult practices because they disguise themselves to be 'for fun' or of/for the light. I of course always seek to learn, and adapt from what I've learned. -I will say some of them are very powerful, and do feel genuinely of Christ though, which is why I want to not dismiss Him out of fear, but also don't want to entertain evil occult spirits. (I don't know how this site works, is there a way to privately send one of the 'words' I've gotten and you can see if they are like one's you saw before?)
