I do not make assumptions on Gods word. That is sinfull,Since both of us start with different assumptions, its quite understandable that we will come to different interpretations of what went down in Acts 10.
I already stated the reason that God sent Peter to Cornelius and not Paul, because peter would be able to defend the legitimacy of Paul’s gospel of the uncircumcision in acts 15.
The gospel that Paul preach, as this thread stated can be found in 1 Cor 15:1-4, Christ died for your sins and rose again on the 3rd day for your justification.
Peter did not preach that to Cornelius. Instead, he stated
BUT IN EVERY NATION he that feareth Him, and worketh righteousness, IS ACCEPTED WITH HIM.
He water baptize him after the HS came upon Cornelius, because that was the requirement of the gospel of the kingdom, and that gospel was all he knew then in Acts 10.
1 Peter 1:20; 2:1 knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
God commands that we know His will. That proves we can not be right with God if we assume what He teaches.
Ephesians 5:17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
God expects us to understand His word. Therefore we can all understand His word alike.
Ephesians 3:4 Whereby when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ.
When Old testament men read the law of God, they understood it.
Nehemiah 8:8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
Sir, I don't start with assumptions. I will not give an opinion on scripture, if I do not yet understand the true meaning of a passage. I will say I am not for sure and need more study. But I will never teach the meaning of Gods word based on assumptions.
Peter preached the same gospel from his conversion to his death. Peter taught ALL are saved by water baptism.
1 Peter 3:20-21 Which sometime were disobedient when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God) by the ressurection of Jesus Christ.
Peter taught that both jew and gentile were to be saved by water. And Paul taught the exact same gospel as Peter.
Romans 6:3-5 know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death? Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death, we shall be also in the likeness of His ressurection:
Paul taught that water baptism is how we have our sins washed away, and how we get into Christ. In Christ is were all the saved are.
Galatians 3:26-27; 28 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
There is neither jew nor greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
2 Timothy 2:10 Therefore I endure all things for the elects sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
When someone says water baptism is not essential to salvation, they make Jesus a liar and have taken away from Gods word.
Mark 16:15-16 And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world and preach the GOSPEL to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be danmed.
Revelation 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life and out of the Holy city and from the things which are written in this book.
Paul water baptized when he preached the gospel,
1Corinthians 1:14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius.
Now if you know a little about the church at Corinth you will know that some were jews but the church at Corinth were largely composed of GENTILE converts.
1 Corinthians 12:1-2 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.
Paul is the apostle that brought the gospel to the Corinthians, Acts 18:1 After these things Paul departed from Athens and came to Corinth.
Now listen to Paul convert jews like Crispus with his gospel. If Paul's gospel is for the uncircumcision why is he teaching and baptizing jews while in Corinth?
Acts 18:8 And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.
Did you catch that? You said water baptism is not for gentiles. Most of the Corinthian church is gentiles. Paul is preaching his gospel and is baptizing jews and gentiles in Corinth.
Once again your beliefs do not fit with the scriptures accounts of Paul's ministry.
Just believe Gods word friend and ignore anyone who contradicts it.
1John 5:7-8 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
