Yes, it's winter. Where I live, today, we're expecting a top temp of 13 Celsius (55 Fahrenheit), and overnight lows recently have been below freezing. We don't get snow here, but there's snow on the nearby mountains and the wind coming off those is bitter.

I don't like the cold, and I tend to spend all winter complaining and wanting to hibernate. :bbrr:

Come up to Hawaii, it's right about 30 with a nice breeze.

Where I live our winters can get -60 (wind-chill). As a teenager I worked outside and used to spend 8 hours a day in those conditions. My eyelashes would constantly stick together.

I'd love to, Jay, but there are just a few small problems with that plan. (I mean, Covid means I can't even move freely in Australia, let alone leave the country...)

I can't even send you a box of warm air through the post due to quarantine procedures. It would cool down before you could open it. :(

I wonder whether "land" itself has a different gender in German and Russian? Having never studied either, I can offer no insight!

Nor me either.

What caused me to think of it was,

was thinking of this song,

have been fascinated by it for a long time,

at 1:17 and 2:05 are two notable pieces.

I think it shows that in spite of outer circumstances,

there comes a point in time when the natural soul caves in
for something more powerful.

Anyhow, thinking of this song and Fatherland made me stop and, hold on a minute, Russians sing of their Motherland.

CF has been slow for me these past few days.. honestly it feels nostalgic and brings back some nice old memories.

Slow like dial-up slow or just nobody posting?

Oh.. sorry yeah maybe I should have been more descriptive.. slow like dial up.
I have noticed the same. I have also had slow traffic, but that just could be the 4 areas I am currently allowed to post in aren't really busy.

I haven't noticed it being slow to load, but other side of the world and all that.

I agree the contentious debates seem to have slowed for a few days, but that can sometimes feel like a welcome reprieve. Especially when life is busy!

Someone gave me a hot pepper to eat at work.. I did.. wow.. that hurt.. not so much my tongue but my throat. I almost threw up. My stomach hurt for the rest of the day too. Never eating a hot pepper while wearing a mask ever again.

I like spicy food (my mother is Mauritian, after all) but not necessarily all the time.

Right now I have a mushroom bourguignon in the slow cooker, and the house smells amazing!
