I'm somewhat revisiting this topic. I have evolved my understanding of this topic further.

I know some believe that evening is the start of a new day but you have to remember that Genesis says that Evening and Morning are part of the DAY - the ILLUMINATION.

Remember, God called the LIGHT - DAY.

So if EVENING and MORNING are also part of DAY, then we would be wrong to say a Biblical DAY started with EVENING, since its ILLUMINATION would be part of a PREVIOUS day.

Therefore, EVENING is the END of a BIBLICAL DAY. Let's also understand that NIGHT is a TWISTING away of the LIGHT, This is exactly what the EARTH is doing when it is rotating on it's axis. It is TWISTING away from the LIGHT of the previous DAY. So the LIGHT is withdrawing and leaving and along with it so is the DAY. So this natural fact further shows that EVENING is NOT the START of a BIBLICAL DAY. Now since this twisting away of the night TAKES us to the the next morning, then that NIGHT that precedes a DAY is part of the SAME DAY.

So an evening is a DAY giving itself up - LIGHT withdrawing, That means the NIGHT is heading towards the NEXT DAY and gives into it..

We have proof that EVENING is the END of a Day in the DAILY Sacrifice:

Exo 29:38 Now this is that which thou shalt offer upon the altar; two lambs of the first year day by day continually.
Exo 29:39 The one lamb thou shalt offer in the morning; and the other lamb thou shalt offer at even:
Exo 29:40 And with the one lamb a tenth deal of flour mingled with the fourth part of an hin of beaten oil; and the fourth part of an hin of wine for a drink offering.
Exo 29:41 And the other lamb thou shalt offer at even, and shalt do thereto according to the meat offering of the morning, and according to the drink offering thereof, for a sweet savour, an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

Notice the Bold text above. This is DEFINITIVE proof. This is the DAILY SACRIFICE. The instructions are for the evening sacrifice to be according to the Morning sacrifice. This cannot be the case if EVENING starts the DAY.

But we got an even better example, in the Apprehension of Christ Jesus and His subsequent confinement under Pilate. According to the Law:

The PASSOVER LAMB (Of which is a type for Christ Jesus) was to be apprehended on the 10th day of the month:

Exo 12:3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:

Exo 12:5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
Exo 12:6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.

Notice the LAMB was to be TAKEN from the sheep or the goats. This word doesn't mean SELECTED, it means to TAKE it from them. So this is an APPREHENSION which typifies Christ Jesus apprehended in the Garden the night after their LAST Supper in the Evening.

Then notice that they are instructed to "keep it up" until the 14th. This is the separation and confinement of the lamb that is apprehended. We know that the night came before the DAY period thus confirming that a BIBLICAL day is as follows:

Start --------------------------------- Finish
NIGHT - MORNING - DAY - EVENING = Biblical Day

Rinse and repeat for the days there after.

Moses wrote according the understanding of that time, but with the coming of Jesus and the new covenant, we no longer have a "biblical" day. However, we look forward to the Day of the Lord when Jesus returns.

Hi Bruce, I appreciate your comment. I understand we are no longer under the LAW and the written ordinances. I present this so that others can understand the timing of prophetic events. Therefore, they are very important from a prophetic standpoint.

Even Jesus Himself when He had come, wept at the people not understanding His First Coming when He came near unto Jerusalem.

Luk 19:41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,
Luk 19:42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
Luk 19:43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
Luk 19:44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

So, as you can see, knowing His visitation is very important to Him. We should therefore, be vigilant and make haste to understand the very festivals and their timing for they are a base unto the prophecies relating to His next coming also.

I don't think we can or should figure out the time of Jesus' return. His lament on Palm Sunday refers to his own arrival that very day and to God's judgment on Jerusalem through the Romans 40 years in their future.

I don't think we are instructed to know the Fall Feast days for nothing. God obviously wanted Israel (those in Christ) to know the time of His return.

Do you mean the exact day or the general time?

I believe we can know the exact time. If you read ACT1. When Jesus tells them that the times are put into the Father's power, He then tells them they will have power (who's power? - Fathers power) when they receive the Holy Spirit.

Now when Jesus said nobody knew the time and day was when they had not yet received the Holy Spirit. Jesus said that in the Perfect Tense, and not in the Future tense.

You need to understand that "Day" has to do with the rotations of the Earth.

Earth did not immediately arrive at one rotation for all days.

Neither did Earth exceed the final rotation, for the last day (the Day of Rest).

I do believe the Day has to do with the rotations of the earth. Night is a "twisting away of the light". I believe that could very well be referring to the face that the earth is rotating on its axis. It is not explicitly stated in the scriptures when the earthy began its rotation. So I don't think some can come to a conclusion either way as to a time for that without presenting more evidence.
