Strong northwesterly winds today. Chilly northwesterly winds have begun to strengthen early this morning. Gusts of 70 to 80 km/h are expected by late this morning or this afternoon across the area. Strong winds will continue into the evening before gradually easing. These strong winds will toss loose objects and may cause some tree branches to break. Isolated power outages are also possible.

I am feeling SO grateful and cosy right now, I'm in my beautiful 17th C wood panelled living room in the UK with my equally lovely and grateful husband and 3 cats, as the view out of our French doors is just like the scene in the wizard of OZ with a black tornado roaring past the window howling like all the beasts of the earth and raining like a water cannon, it's a storm of not quite biblical proportions but nearly, the noise is a whistling down the chimney and through the keyholes, and there's a roaring outside like jets with intermittent rumblings, I'm fearful our dear old chimneys will blow down, but I bet this is nothing compared to those living at the top of UK hills and mountains right now.
I'm reminded of Charlotte Bronte' who lived at the edge of a brutal northern moor where I was born, she spoke of the wind as being like all this spirits of the earth descending on their parsonage, hardly surprising as she was brought up in a graveyard and with an imagination like hers, and northern moors are particularly wild and windswept at the best of times, if you could hear what I can gear outside right now in the flat East Anglia, you'd not want to be in a moorland farm unless it had walls three feet thick!

I hope the outcome wasn't as bad as you expected!

Shocking! That reminds me of old black and white spooky movies!

We just had the most terrifically exiting thunder storm here in the UK in mid May, V unexpected, window vibrating type thunder!, And gutter splashing rain in the afternoon, storms ALWAYS come from the south west direction here in East anglia, but it's been SO cold for May! Wondering if global lockdown has cooled the atmosphere along with the economy?

Another stormy May day in the UK, I went out with my painting group to our nearest city, and the hail was bouncing off the pavements so high it was hitting our easels even though we were under cover by then! Then it got so sunny and hot!
You want to try painting outdoors in these conditions?

Not very nice....but I don't like hot weather at all. Last night it was cold. Today (Sunday the 30th) it's going to be perfect (70 F.).
