The Arizona Republic reported Friday that the GOP-controlled Arizona Senate is close to signing a second recount deal, this time using digital images of the county’s ballots rather than the real paper objects.

The auditor this time, rather than “Cyber Ninjas,” would be the nonprofit Citizens Oversight, which, similarly, had no experience auditing elections prior to Donald Trump’s months-long tantrum over losing his reelection bid.

The group’s founder Ray Lutz told the Republic that the audit would amount to a “grand test” of his technology, which he calls “AuditEngine,” and which purports to be able to re-tabulate ballots cast on other machines.

Since the County has already performed a hand recount of lots of ballots, and saw no discrepancies with the machine totals, this would seem to be completely warrantless, in addition to unwise.

They might..... and then again they may not....

How many investigations have to come up empty before you accept the voters and not foul play prevented Trump from getting a second term?

Also, Maricopa county has around 1,800 different ballot styles — accounting for neighborhood-specific races and the like, the paper reported — which could take weeks to program for Lutz’s review.

this seems like an issue. that's a different ballot style for every 2444 people

I feel most non-stupid Republicans know these investigations are going to turn up nothing and just are using these so the appearances of impropriety can be used to sway independents to the Republicans’ side in an election similar to the endless Benghazi investigations. A non-pathetic political party would use policy positions to sway independents to their side. Stupid Republicans could have Jesus himself say the election was above board and they still would say their godman won and demand another audit.

Try and try and try again! Keep trying until you finally get it right! I'm sure as soon as they find the fraud they will stop. It may take another 3 months, year, 3 years, or 30 years, but never give up!

It’s like the 21st centuries version of The Lost Cause.

I hope the AZ Democratic Party can paint the entire Republican Party as a bunch of incompetent clowns. Nobody who runs anything like what’s described in that article has any business being anywhere near a public office.

Joe Biden won Maricopa Country with the help of Independents and Republicans. County level officials (80% Republican) have firmly rejected the ongoing effort to undermine voters confidence in the election. State level republican's have yet to get the message. If AZ Republican Party thinks this is a winning message for unseating Sen Mark Kelly in 2022, they're mistaken.

Who's paying for this? My guess is tax payers . I hope I'm wrong. Since it's a complete waist of money

Oh fun! Remember the good time Corsi and such had with the digital image, in pdf form, of Obama's birth certificate? They could really draw this circus out.

Guess the "Cyber Ninjas" came up empty... most likely due to excessive competence. Didn't see that coming.

AZ will be certain not to make that mistake again.

Of course the taxpayers are paying... You don't think the GOP would waste their own money on this snipe hunt, do you!

...will the Republicans in other states intentionally repeat the "mistakes"?

It's easier than to make new and creative mistakes, so... most likely.

I feel most non-stupid Republicans

Had to stop you right there. The problem with relying on any "non-stupid" group is that in America, you need at least a majority to get anything done.

By definition, half of any group is below average, and let's be honest, these days, "average" ain't what it used to be.

Probably intentional to keep the dream alive in their base. Keep them warm so they don't forget and are inspired to vote next time.
It should be considered election campaigning.
