Examine Yourself, Test Yourself, Know Yourself

2 Peter 1:1 Simon Peter, a bond servant and apostle of Jesus Christ,
To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness
of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:

As in:
Luke 1:
8 So it was, that while he was serving as priest before God in the order of his division,
9 according to the custom of the priesthood, his lot fell to burn incense when he went
into the temple of the Lord.
Each is allotted a measure of faith to function within the body of Christ.
Romans 12:
3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think
more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one
a measure of Faith.
4 For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function,
5 so we many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.
Wherefore then is this measure a “like precious faith”?
Is it not received by way of the same Righteousness of Christ, according to His
Own Purpose and the Will of His Father?
Ephesians 1:11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined
according to the Purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of
His own Will.
Are we not instructed to prove this faith?
2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you do not stand the test.

2 Peter 1:2 May Grace and peace abound unto you in the knowledge of God
and of Jesus our Lord.

Being partakers of Christ, what are we to do with this “Like Precious Faith”?
2 Peter 1:
5 But also for this very reason, give all diligence, add to your Faith virtue, to virtue
knowledge,
6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness,
7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.
By these then, we may “abound in Grace and Peace”: (verse 2)

2 Peter 1:8 For if these things are yours and abound, will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 1:9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

But if you do not retain this knowledge:
2 Peter 2:
20 For if, after they have escaped the pollution of the world through the knowledge of
the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the
latter end is worse for them than the beginning.
21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness,
than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them.
22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb:
A dog returns to his own vomit, and,
a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.
