I would like to start journaling the Bible, but I really do not know how.

Was never good at taking notes in school and tended to just absorb what was being taught through hearing, reading, and doing, but I want to give journaling the Bible a try.

Anyone here journal the Bible that was in the same position I am?

Edit: I would like to use a separate book to write in rather than a journaling bible itself.

Something you might try is what I've been doing now for a few months - just writing books of the bible. I'm finding it an incredible journey of discovery. I've probably read through the bible at least 30 or 40 times now, not including all the individual readings of verses and passages and books. It's (writing it out) giving me a more intimate understanding of His Word.

I purchased some loose-leaf narrow ruled paper and some bible-pens (don't run or splotch); and I purchased a binder. With that, I started writing out the gospel of John. Since then I've written our I & 2nd Peter, Colossians, Galatians, and I'm currently working on Romans.

Dunno if that's what you're looking for, but thought it might be an option for you.

Thank you for your reply!

Not exactly what I am looking for. I am not looking to write out the entire Bible as you are doing. More of a write my thoughts down on what I am reading, notes and stuff like that.

I am just not good at doing that.

Great. I would say all believers should be doing it. I was in the same position when I first started doing it not too long ago. But I started taking one small step at a time. Just read a portion and write down your thoughts as you read, meditate and pray.

That's my issue. My thoughts aren't clear when I read. They are a jumbled mess. I am also not one that meditates on what I read necessarily until the next day if at all. I am more of reading the Bible straight, through, page by page, and the more I read, the more I understand. My prayers are quick, more of a thank you for this day. I generally don't have more than a few minutes to pray after I read my Bible. I don't pray for anyone or even myself.

I'm just a mess!

If you want to journal maybe you could summarize in your own words what you read. A short paragraph, don’t worry about it, just get in the habit of writing. Your thoughts should become more clear as you write.

Here’s an example I just wrote for you.

Read: John 3:17

Thoughts: My God loves the world and desires to save us. Jesus came because the Father sent Him.

Prayer: Dear God, thanks for sending your Son. Thanks that you love us and doesn’t condemn us but desire to save us. I pray that all people will be saved. Amen.

It’s that easy. :) I hope it helps. As you keep journaling, you will begin to notice great improvement, not just with thinking and writing, but in every area of your life.

Thank you both!

As my girlfriend has said more times than I care to mention, I overthink things.

No - I get that, but I thought the exercise of writing something out (certainly not the whole bible - goodness, I don't even expect to do that myself :) ) might stimulate your thoughts and perhaps help organize them to make it easier to write them down. At least, that's been one of my experiences in the exercise - clarity of thought as to what the writer is saying, what the scene must have been like, nuances of characters I never got before in just reading, etc.

Whatever you do - your question is a valid one and the answer one worthy of pursuit. God bless your efforts.

I love bible journaling and prayer journaling! My prayer life has grown SO MUCH since I started integrating a journal, I am really seeing God's hand in a lot of things that have been on my heart.

Here's some videos that you may find useful for drawing inspiration for your own journaling.

I am wanting to start bible journaling also. I have heard so many of my fellow worshipers at church state that they journal and how much they have learned from it. I want this also!!! I have found some great information What is Bible Journaling?
