The last enemy that will be destroyed is death.

It's interesting. People around me have always feared death, considered it a bad thing, etc. Yet I view death as not just a natural thing, as it happens to all things (all animals die, our lifestyles eventually change, rocks eventually erode, the sun will eventually die out, etc.), but a good thing as well. After we die, we will be with God in Heaven. Isn't that a good thing? So I have found that death no longer makes me sad. This year I have lost a pet, as well as my grandmother, and I found that I moved very quickly into the acceptance phase of grief.

It is spiritual death, the death of the soul, that I find sad. This is the death that must be destroyed, and is ultimately a result of our choices and lack of belief. I feel that many times that the Bible mentions death, it refers to spiritual death as opposed to physical death.

Physical death is destroyed for all mankind in the resurrection.
There will be no more physical death after the resurrection of all mankind at the end of time.

Eternal death is destroyed for the church in the rebirth of the Holy Spirit.
All mankind is born without eternal life, and in spiritual death, and raised to eternal life in the rebirth of the Holy Spirit.

Can you define and support "spiritual death" with scripture?
Did Jesus die a "spiritual death" on the cross, or did he die a physical death?

Spiritual death (no eternal life in our spirit) is what we are raised out of when we are born again.

Death is very real ... happens every day .... it is VERY literal.

The death that is being referred to in 1 Corinthians 15:26 is the second death (cease to exist for eternity) also literal.

All who die the first death (earthly death) lay dormant in the grave (biblically referred to as a sleep) why? Because all will be resurrected .... either in the first (of the saved) or in the 2nd (of the lost).

Jesus overcame (eternal) death at the cross and those in the first resurrection will receive eternal life.

13Brothers, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who are without hope. 14For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, we also believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.

Death is the dwelling place of the condemned.
Death is destroyed when the condemned is destroyed.
When the condemned is destroyed there will be no more death.

Scripture trumps opinion...IMO.
Death is the absence of motivational life in the soul, and animating life in the body.

EZE 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sins shall die.

Soul is not the combination of spirit and body/flesh. We are triune beings just like the GODS/ELOHIM that made Adam in the Garden.
GEN 1:26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness;

'Spirit' is the determining factor of 'animating life for the body/flesh', or 'inanimate' body/flesh death.

JAM 2:26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so faith apart from works is dead.

If you are led by the 'holy spirit of Christ in you', you will not sin or die. If you are led of the sinful natured flesh/body, which all have inherited from Adam you shall die.

SIN is DEATH on the installment plan.

JAM 1:15 Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin; and sin when it is full-grown brings forth death.

When God created man He was spirit. The Father , the Word and the Holy Spirit were SPIRIT. When he created Adam, and when you were in the womb, the only thing in you that was of God's image and from Him was your SPIRIT.

ECC 11:5 As you do not know how the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.

And, it would appear you also do not know the work of God who makes everything either....according to scripture.
