I have heard Dr. Fauci speak a number of times since January 20, but have heard little from Dr. Walensky. I still look at him as the primary leader of the pandemic task force in the administration.

To tell the truth, I have been relaxing. I had my second Pfizer vaccine February 24. I was just so relieved that the Trump administration, whose non-epidemiologically trained "doctor" was telling me that if only seniors like me would throw ourselves under the bus we'd get herd immunity. Thank goodness he's back to practicing his actual medical specialty.

Vaccinations are necessary for anyone who might transmit the virus. If children are asymptomatic but can transmit the virus to everyone else then they need vaccinations.

You can't deny that the numbers are astronomically better than they were before 1/20--without me or any of my dear senior friends throwing themselves under the bus to help the former (septugenarian) president's stats look good. No way. You ask me to throw myself under the bus for herd immunity, you've lost my vote. (Of course, there were many hundreds of other reasons why he'd lost my vote, but that was one of them.)

This woman isn't behaving as a leader and advocate of public health. She is behaving as a politician. It's astounding to me as people watch her never-ending flip-flops that they still think she's doing the best she can.

Dr. Fauci flip-flops more than Dr. Walensky. Just last week he was saying everyone would need to wear masks until at least some time in 2022. Now he's telling vaccinated people to take their masks off and go shopping. And no, there is no "new science" that informs this decision.

Vaccinations are necessary for anyone who might transmit the virus. If children are asymptomatic but can transmit the virus to everyone else then they need vaccinations.

Ah, I see you've bought into the "children are nothing more than vectors of disease" line. The only problem with that; it's unsupported by science. Multiple studies of household transmission of SARS-CoV2 have shown that it's extremely unlikely that a child is the index case of the virus.

Also, children have a mortality risk that is THOUSANDS of times less, perhaps even HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of times less than older adults. Just take look at this data that shows the distribution of deaths from the virus by age. Clearly this virus is far more dangerous the older you get.

You can't deny that the numbers are astronomically better than they were before 1/20

You also can't deny that the numbers were already falling precipitously PRIOR to 1/20. This was before the new administration AND before any mass vaccination;

Also, for someone who thinks this shouldn't be political, you sure are injecting politics into the discussion quite a lot.

When the best health advice I get from the previous administration is to risk infection and death, being upset isn't "political." It's survival.

The Trump Administration Treats Seniors as Expendable - Center for American Progress

You do know that's not the topic of this thread, right? And you do know that your article is dated October 29, 2020, right?

The topic of the thread is that it's time for Dr. Walensky to resign. Why? Because she is nothing more than a political shill that is tossed to and fro with political pressures and popular opinion. Her "guidance" on school opening was not based on any science, and it was 100% contrary to what she had said days prior. Her insistence that we need to vaccinate children under an EUA, when we know children have a higher risk of death by suicide than from COVID, is irresponsible.

You might remember the Hippocratic oath which states, "First, do no harm". We know that there have been fewer than 300 children that have been recorded as COVID deaths over the last 16 months. We also know that adverse events are inevitable in vaccination. And studies have shown that child to adult transmission of COVID-19 is exceedingly rare. So why would we put 75 MILLION children at unnecessary HIGHER risk by vaccinating them when we have no idea what adverse events will occur?

What's at stake is trust in all vaccinations. All it will take is for one confirmed cases of an AE that kills an otherwise healthy child as a result of the vaccine, and public trust in not only this vaccination, but all vaccinations, will plummet. We need to be able to trust that our public health experts and regulatory systems are doing their jobs based on sound data, not panic and public pressure.

Perhaps the COVID-19 vaccine is good for children. We just don't know yet. But there simply is no good reason why there should be an EUA for them. COVID-19 is absolutely not an emergency for children. The vaccine should go through its regular regulatory approval and not be rushed through with an EUA when one is not warranted.

Why aren't Dr. Fauci and Dr. Walensky saying this? Why aren't they advocating for the children? Heck, they want them wearing masks even as adults remove them. It's foolish, and it is not based on science or data of any kind. That is what we should expect from our public health leaders, not emotional pleas, recommendations and "guidance" that changes on an hourly basis.

My wife messaged our doctor and asked about giving up wearing masks as the CDC said and now Gov Baker says people in MA can do so and the state will fully open May 29th ?

He replied back and said that there are still many unknowns and because we both have health issues, to continue to wear a mask when in stores or public gatherings like Church until the numbers really show we're safe. He also said it's best if we avoid large crowds like at indoor sporting events and concerts.

He said that some patients of his who have compromised immunity, got the vaccine and still ended up with the virus. The vaccination kept them from being hospitalized and they recovered quickly. However, he said that they're still not sure how long the vaccine is good for and he said the CDC is saying that booster shots will probably be needed in the future.

He also said he believes that the relaxing of the mask mandate is being used as an incentive for people who aren't getting the vaccine. If he's right, that's a lousy way of getting people to behave the way the CDC wants them to.

I still say Dr Walensky is putting out mixed messages and has changed her position just 24 hours after making her previous statement.

Science doesn't change that quickly.

Given their obvious disappointment that Trump's predictions concerning the "MARKET CRASH" have failed to materialize, his supporters are desperately searching for any hint of bad economic news as justification to undermine the efforts of their successors!

Instead of the months of denials costing the lives of countless Americans, had the former President risen to the occasion by demonstrating leadership and championing those safety measures coming from his own CDC, Trump would still be in the White House!

What does this have to do with the topic of the thread ?

You should check out some interviews with Harvey Risch MD, PhD, Professor of Epidemiology at Yale School of Public Health. He very calmly and honestly blows the lid off the official narratives being pushed on us.

While I would absolutely agree that dissenting voices have been silenced and censored if they don't echo the approved narrative, the fact is we all tend to follow and agree with the doctor or epidemiologist that holds the same views as us. Here is a thought-provoking op-ed on Medpage discussing that topic;

From the article;

From a policy standpoint, we do the same thing without knowing it. We like people who promote policies we think are sensible, reasonable, and pragmatic, but not those who go too far, or are too cavalier. On social media, and in New York Times articles, we ask, what do epidemiologists, infectious disease physicians, pediatricians, pediatric infectious disease doctors, front line physicians, virologists, intensivists, and Tony Fauci, MD, think? But none of these 'tags' or symbols is synonymous with good policy.

Can you supply evidence for this? I doubt that Dr Walensky "was on the news on the edge of tears". She is a highly-respected professional and "on the edge of tears" is just an (undocumented) opinion.

It's the go-to mockery used by the far-right for women that scare them.
