Lindsey Graham: Without Donald, "Half of the Republican Party will leave."

Lindsey Graham said something *very* important about Donald Trump and the GOP - CNNPolitics

"He's the most popular Republican in the country by a lot," Graham said of Trump in an interview with Fox News. "If you try to drive him out of the Republican Party, half the people will leave."
Yes they will! And if half (or even a third) of people who identify as Republicans right now left the party if there were a concerted effort on behalf of the establishment -- such as it is -- to rid the party of Trump, then the GOP would have approximately a 0.0% chance of winning a national election.
Which Trump knows. And Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell knows. And House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy knows.

(Worth noting: Republicans lost control of the White House, the Senate and the House during Trump's time in office.)

What was that about the GOP "moving forward"?

What are they gonna do when he dies? I honestly don't think he will make it 5 years, but he may surprise us all. But, he can't live forever and I don't see his base rallying around any of his kids with the same passion. Maybe he'll pass the mantle to the my pillow guy.

Or JFK jr for some reason, they really can't decide who would be better. Yes really, princess di and JFK jr are alive and in hiding and are now republicans.

Don Jr is even worse. At least Don Sr had the hustle and the gumption to take a successful business, expand it into a new market, and make a name for himself (with the name being the real product). For all his myriad flaws, he does have some skill with regards to marketing and showmanship. Don Jr doesn't even have that - all he is is a mediocre rich kid who's done nothing but ride his father's coattails. Conservatives can't even say they like him because he's been a successful businessman. The only real success he's had is implanting in his mother's uterus.

Agreed. Trump Sr. is very sharp in figuring how to peel the sucker away from his or her money. Ironically he also hit the "birth lottery". I suspect that Fred Trump was the last of the Trump who could actually make money on his own by doing stuff. He sounds like he was a terrible father and probably a psychopath of some sort. But Don Sr. did figure out that one can make money off of pure advertising without content. And that makes him reasonably important to understand.

But from what I understand Ivanka is a closet East Coast Librul. Apparently she and Jared were the only voices even marginally left of the hard right craziness of the Trump White House. And that's sad. Because she also seems to be missing a few key widgets that make for a real human.

Ivanka is almost as useless as Don Jr. She's got more poise and discipline and is probably somewhat smarter, but she hasn't done anything but ride daddy's coattails, either.

They might be more culturally liberal, but AFAIK, they were all in on the right-wing policies regarding taxes and the role of government (i.e. minimal federal involvement in covid response).

It is an interesting observation how CNN feels the need to propagandize a narrative from another news organization.

But what else is new? They continue to cast worst case opinions on the President. Nothing new here.

Good riddance, take your Trumpism with you when you leave, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. I won't shed any tears for the Republican Party if it crumbles to the ground. If that's what it takes to rid the Republican Party of Trump and his yes-man loyalists, then so be it. Good riddance.
