Point of this discussion:
Other countries are questioning the cognitive capability of the president. People in this country are questioning it as well. And given the mounting evidence, such questions are imho, quite reasonable to pose.
Do you agree the leader of the free world is in cognitive decline?
--- and to clarify, cognitive decline such that it is having, or could have, serious ramifications for him, his party, this country, even perhaps the world - being in the position he is in.

If you agree, what are those possible ramifications? How serious (or not) might they be?

If you disagree, why? E.g. Just political theater? No proof? Purely opinion/partisanship?

From Sky News Australia:
"This is elder abuse".... "We can't be serious that this is the leader of the Western world."
From the American Thinker:
https://www.americanthinker.com/blo..._capacity_is_diminishing_before_our_eyes.html
"Anybody who's dealt with aging relatives unlucky enough to suffer from cognitive decline, whether Alzheimer's or age-related senility, recognizes what's going on with Joe Biden."
From the Washington Times:
It’s time to question Biden’s mental health
"Some might call Biden’s gaffe’s funny. They are not funny when considering electing the next leader of the free world. What’s also NOT funny is watching an old man with advanced dementia struggle to try and sound coherent when he’s not. When Biden can’t unscramble his thoughts, desperately searching to speak without breaking down."

And let's be clear - this is a serious topic, it's not an open door to merely bash the president cuz you don't like him or his politics.

Aren't you tired of this attack line? Clearly most Americans think Biden is doing a great job.

Biden continues to hold on to high approval ratings

If you want to start a "serious" discussion, you'd do well to references sources better than the simple-minded, partisan hackery that's found at American Thinker, Washington Times, and Sky News Australia.

All sources in the OP are right-wing propaganda rags.

These are the same ones that simultaneously claim Biden has dementia and he's single-handedly devising plans to destroy America through subtle trickery.

Okay. Nothing serious to discuss.

Not to worry! The news just broke in the mainstream media that Biden has given in and agreed to have a medical examination and to release the results to the public.

Whether this was always the plan of the Democratic leadership to let him remain in office just long enough to make it look real before stepping aside and letting Kamala become president, or if Biden's people have decided that the widespread opinion of the American people that he now has a diminished mental capacity and so is unable to govern coherently has forced their hand, it's not clear at this time.

Not sure if you're serious, but okay. If it's real, I expect it to go better than Trump's "person woman man camera tv" nonsense.

You keep telling yourself that.

Do you want President Harris? Because this is how you get President Harris.

[this nonsense didn't work in the election, so it's too late now.]

Well, that was fast - one post before someone attempted to derail the thread.

This thread is not about bashing the president or his "approval" ratings.

Either stick to the topic or excuse yourself from posting further, please.

...and the clips of the President of the United States making all those gaffes - that's all "right-wing propaganda too?"

Would your opinion be the same had a Republican president behaved in the same manner?

No, I don't want a "President Harris." Neither do I want an individual who behaves as Biden does in all those gaffes running the country. Frankly, it scares the living tar out of me, having someone like that at the helm of the most powerful office in the world, someone who is CLEARLY struggling cognitively.

This isn't political now, this is serious stuff. You think Putin or Xi Jinping or other world leaders aren't taking notice of this?

It is a perfectly reasonable question.

If you don't agree, cite your reason(s).
My reason is that there have been dozens of allegations in that regard for every president since I follow american politics. They never panned out. Point a camera at a guy for long enough and he'll produce a gaff or 20.

I'll believe it if there is some real medical evidence. Before that, it's not worth the time.

Then you shouldn't have voted Biden into office.

Except, when the president does come out to speak (which has been a rarity for quite awhile now), it's not like he's spending hours and hours in front of cameras such that they can get the sort of "opportunity" photos you're alleging. When he does come out, it's generally for just a very short time.

And re the "dozens of allegations in that regard for every president" not panning out, well one, not sure to which ones you're referring, but maybe there's a reason they didn't pan out.

But that doesn't mean similar allegations in this case must necessarily not pan out either.

Frankly, I can't think of another president in recent memory who's quite obviously struggled the way this one has in the past several years. And honestly, it seems to be getting worse.
