Hello. I’ve been feeling pretty depressed for quite some time. I’m not really happy in this life. Things are just a struggle. How do you know what kind of change needs to be made. I’ve found when when I’m depressed and I look and others who struggle I have a deeper understanding of what they are going through. I can feel other peoples pain. That being said, I don’t want to be depressed either. I want to make changes to feel better myself. I don’t know how to navigate a situation like this. Life isn’t always easy and making changes is hard and can be risky. I’m not sure what to do.
I appreciate the advice, I just had to ask someone else.

Sorry to hear about your struggle. I can only speak for myself as I do not know your lifestyle in order to recommend changes. What I do know is walking with His Holy Spirit daily is the first step . Fear is the cause of much anxiety and depression. Love knows no fear and God is LOVE. Rest in Him for your peace. Be blessed.

Wake up every day in the same time.

Eat healthy.

Exercise regularly.

Help others, find some area to be useful for somebody.

Grow, study, learn, build your character.

Clean your house/appartment.

Keep a discipline.

Get a companion (for example a pet). Do not be totally alone.

Life isn’t always easy and making changes is hard and can be risky. I’m not sure what to do.

Big changes can be risky or too difficult. There is a Japan term "kaizen", used in commercial area. It means continuous improvement by small changes.
You can try this.

First off, a big kudos to you for being willing to admit that you want to make changes in your life. Recognizing that you're depressed and that you know things can be done to change your situation is huge. I worked in the Mental Health field for over a decade and the best starter advice I can give is to implement whatever plan you decide on in small steps. Don't try to do too much at one time. Start out small, such as making little changes to your eating or sleeping habits. Then once you've developed some good habits there, move on to others.

Sometimes, it helps me to physically write down the things I'm stressing about or the things that I believe are making me depressed. It often helps to reduce those feelings when I see them on paper (or text) because then I can start to see how trivial they might be.

I think we've all been at your position, of being unsatisfied with our present condition and wanting something to change, but feeling lost about what needs to be changed.

Indeed, this world we live in is not as it should be. Toil is painful, and frustrating, often producing more thorns and thistles than fruit (Genesis 3:17-18). But in this we have hope: that God has promised to redeem His creation, and in His grace we are allowed to partake in his glorious work.

But God will have a different call for each people, and how they can specifically be His agents of change. Immerse yourself in His word, and discover what His will is. Then perhaps, he will favour to reveal his ways to you, and call you to a path that will fulfill both His desires and your own.

  • Put your hope in Christ’s words.
  • Wait for His steadfast love.
  • Pray that He will revive you in keeping with His words.
  • Seek the Lord’s strength continually.
  • Submit yourself to the truth of His words.
  • Receive the grace and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ who delivered us from the present evil age according to the will of God and Father to whom be glory forever and ever.Amen
  • Treasure His words in your heart and keep His words in your mind.
  • Trust that the Lord’s promise give life.

Yes, Santoso! The simple truth is: "He that hath the Son, has life, and he that has not the Son of God has not that life" (1 Jn. 5:10-12). Many seekers do not read John 14 and Romans 8, so do not hear God speaking about the truth of 'Bible-only' as our source of God's messages to us.

So when we were burdened with sorrow, we looked to God to strengthen us according to His word.

May our dear friend here, be strengthen in the grace that is in Christ Jesus, our Lord.

A neurosugeon, Dr Avery Jackson, has written "God's Prescription Book" that has a chapter on laughter. Our bodies benefit whether it's an authentic laugh or when we make ourselves laugh. Laughter, joy, and exercise affect the same receptors that pain does. A merry heart improves our immune system.

"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: ..." Pro 17:22

So can spend some time investing in this God given strategy: What helps me -
- Fav: watching very young children dancing on youtube
- Even better - "... garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness..." Isa 61:3 "Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name." Psa 100:4

I think we all have times that we realize “something has got to change.” When we are faced with this challenge it is a good idea to take inventory and see why we are at this particular point in our lives. Life is a choice/choosing this way and/or that. There are so many large and small choices that we make that sometimes we are not even aware that we have made a choice. Doing nothing is actually a choice and often leaves us to the whims of other people. So I suggest that you do a “Stop, Drop and Think”

Sometimes for me I have to sit down and write out my thoughts. Then I can work thru them in a more rational manner. You might start by just describing yourself to yourself. Ask your self what do I like, what do I not like as well?

When I became a Christian there were many areas of my life that needed changing. For some folks I reckon this could happen overnight, with God’s help. But for me it was more of a process. I say “I am a work in progress.” God is still working on me as I submit to His work in my life. Many times those changes are triggered by Bible study. Other times they are triggered by fellowship and/or the encouragement of other Christians. All of these things are important as we grow in our walk with the Lord.

I am praying for you to be able to “be still and know God’s presence.” I am praying that He will reveal to you areas of change and guide you thru it. Remember your life is not cut in stone it is changeable. Here is a number-855 382 5433-you might call for resources in seeking God’s will and plan for your life. If you begin this introspection you may be very surprised if you journal and look back over your journal in a year. God bless you as you journey.

So, what's going on between you and God? He says to us that if we walk well with Him, rest, joy and peace will be ours.

Matthew 11:28-30
28 "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
29 "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.
30 "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

Good morning. I just want to say that I'm praying for you right now. Focus on Jesus, read His word often and ask Him to speak to you. Prayer is a 2 way street. Pray to Him and listen for His voice in the word and in your spirit. God wants you to abide in Him and not live this way. We are not citizens of this world however we are here for a purpose. What is your purpose in life? Do you know? Ask Jesus!! He will give your life meaning and you will thrive, not just "get by." Can you play worship music to help you throughout the day?
I find that when I volunteer it helps me focus on others in life. Many great organizations need volunteers to help whenever you can.
My best advice is to focus on Jesus every day.

Hi! I am very sorry to hear all this but congrats on the courage it took for you, in a depressed state, to come here and let it out. First off, Depression is the constant recycle of the past. Anxiety is the fear of the future. You have to live in the NOW and let go of the past especially "self-pity" because it is like quicksand and it will swallow you up in a second.
I see that you are admitting to wanting change. That is good. It is the first step to recovery.

Move to a quiet, comfortable place, lie down if you want, close your eyes and try to imagine the face of God/Jesus. Once you can clearly picture him, ask him to send the holy spirit in your soul, heart and mind and set it on fire...to give you that hunger for faith, to change your life. Tell him you are giving yourself entirely to Him, that you want and need him, that you are now ready, ask him to forgive all your sins, and really, just talk to him as if he was there, because he is. Get on your knees if you have too, until you have an intimate relationship with God. You will feel different as the days go by. He will always be there for you if you ask him and are open to him. God Bless my friend...I have been where you are, that is why I turned to Jesus and I am so much better now because he is my best friend and I share everything with him.
