Canadian Pastor Artur Pawlowski, who kicked police out of his church after they tried to shut down a worship service during Holy Week, and his brother, Dawid Pawlowski, have been arrested for holding an “illegal” in-person gathering as per COVID-19 limits set by a new court order.

Referring to the Pawlowskis of Street Church in Calgary, Alberta, Calgary Police Service said in a statement that its officers “lawfully enforced” the court order by arresting the two men after church.

A video posted on YouTube shows that Calgary Police Service sent at least five police vehicles to arrest the two from on the street. The brothers knelt on the road and refused to walk on their own during the arrest.

A voice can be heard telling the officers, “Shame on you guys, this is not communist China. Don’t you have family and kids? Whatever happened to ‘Canada, God keep our land glorious and free?’”

a guy posted one of his sermons on here a few days ago and he is hated by the government because of the right reasons. He preaches repentance and confessing Jesus and points out Canada's fall from righteousness and into sin. He is not afraid to make a stand and hopefully he will inspire others to stand up for their rights.

I view people going in to big box stores here in Canada. They're open all over the place. There busy with lots of people inside sometimes. All anyone needs to do is follow a few simple guide lines. Christians go to the market place of the LORD and follow those same guide lines and that happens.

Follow mask and social distancing mandates, it's not that hard. This also has nothing to do with tyranny or being anti-Christian. It's simply taking common sense approaches to protecting the people during a public health crisis.
Looks like discrimination to me, discrimination is not all about race only.

His congregation was not following those guidelines. That's why he was arrested. Here's a video from his facebook page from shortly before the first arrest. The camera angle mostly focuses on the lectern, but what you can see of the choir and the crowd clearly shows no attempt at distancing or mask wearing.

I don't have access to FaceBook however I do not doubt more people now are no longer following these guidelines as well. I see a fair amount of shoppers who no longer are bothered to disinfect their hands or shopping carts anymore too. Having to charge them as well and closing down those stores isn't a practical solution either. It's about a bigger issue.

The way I see it, our Canadian government is showing a great deal of incompetence by being incapable of equally applying these same measures. Instances have happened in the USA that are similar.

The doublethink of the “law & order” folks have when the scofflaw claims religious-exemption is positively delightful!
Canada's charter guarantees: Freedom of religion in Canada is a constitutionally protected right, allowing believers the freedom to assemble and worship without limitation or interference.
So maybe you can explain to the rest of us less informed folks what exactly in there makes them scofflaws?.......Take your time......I'll wait.......

I think you should have added pro-life along with law & order. I think it's a shame that there are pro-life conservatives who appear to be more concerned with not being inconvenienced by the mask and social distancing mandates than they are concerned for the health and welfare of other people. Also, some of these pro-life conservatives act as if looking out for their fellow man by wearing a mask or at least practice social distancing is a monumental burden for them and they can't be bothered by it. It's almost as if they cherish their own personal privileges more than they care about the well-being of the people around them. IMHO, I think it's an awful personal witness for a pro-life Christian to exhibit.

Way off the mark. It is just we refuse to have our lives and behaviors dictated to us simply to accommodate peoples unreasoning fears and justification for isolation. If you want to become a covid hermit to accommodate those fears be my guest; the rest of us would prefer to get on with our lives........

It's an even bigger shame when people refer to something that's a right as a convenience, thereby justifying a government action that violates that right--even to the point of arresting and jailing those who exercise that right.

No, it's not that hard. The church I attend is still following the CDC guidelines for the mask and social distancing mandates and there is still a Zoom livestream available to the congregation. FWIW, it's the Church of the Nazarene and conservative. I was especially relieved when I heard the pastor and the church board decided to continue the mandates despite Abbott's insistence to re-open everything.

*sheesh* I'll bet you obey the speed limits to at the risk of being seen as worshiping the gov't. /s

My wife's church, too, (also TX) is maintaining some protocols, though not, I think, as well as yours.

And so how long are you going to continue?.....till covid is licked?......and if we never lick it, what then? Permanent masking and isolation?......And what happens when/if they drop that requirement?......will you be relieved then?.......If others don't follow masking/distance does that prevent you from doing so?......why should your fears dictate how others are required to behave?

Yeah, I guess so. Lol.

I'm very relieved that some churches (including conservative ones), businesses, and restaurants here in Texas are ignoring Governor Abbott push to re-open 100%. I was concerned about it at first, but I just patronize the stores and restaurants that still have the mandates and avoid the ones that don't.
