It is nothing other than an outright attempt to control the military and ensure that everyone in it is loyal to only one political ideology, it will backfire.

The military already killed this nonsense.

I believe the response was that they were only looking into behavior....not beliefs (because the military aren't thought police) and they required a description of "white supremacist behaviour".

That effectively kills the entire thing. The white house can't reasonably describe "white supremacist behaviour" without limiting themselves to that definition later on.

Some of those under arrest charged with crimes relating to the January 6th events in the Capitol were serving military or veterans. If memory serves these people were connected to ultra-right groups.

Why is the Washington Post story about a shooting incident in Alexandria, Va., Wednesday, June 14, 2017? The link with the government policy of 2021 seems tenuous.

The only 'link' that I can see is that Republicans have accused the FBI of bias, though no evidence has yet been offered here. In the immortal words of Mandy Rice Davies: 'Well, they would, wouldn't they?'

Personally I'm all for it...alienate the police and military from the left as much as possible.

Honestly, I barely remember. I just remember the shooting at Republicans at a baseball game. This wasn't talked about for long in the media.

Folks "barely remember" a Liberal Bernie Sanders supporter purposely seeking out Republican politicians to kill while they played baseball, but our grandchildren will forever remember the name of an overdosed inappropriate content star/patron saint of Fentanyl. This your brain on the mainstream media.

Republican Congressman Steve Scalise and three others were shot by James T. Hodgkinson because they were Republican, but the FBI determines that there was no political motive behind the shooting. That doesn't seem fishy at all. While anything at all that a Republican does is called White Supremacist-motivated domestic terrorism.

Time magazine ran the story at the time (2017). Five men were shot with injuries severe enough to warrant hospitalisation. None died. Only one, Steve Scalese, was a Congressman.

The attacker, James Hodgkinson, was shot by police and later died from his injuries.

The police were there and did fatally shoot Hodgkinson. It might be worthwhile finding out if Hodgkinson actually had political motivation; Time does not mention any.

Until evidence to the contrary is found I shall be taking the FBI's conclusion seriously. Why would they make stuff up?

Yes, but if he intentionally targeted Congresspeople, he probably assumed that they would be protected by police, which they were.

There's just speculation. He did make hateful comments about Republicans online and asked if Republicans were playing the game.

Look...if you want I can give examples of people being labeled as domestic terrorists for less.

The ADL put out a list of "white supremacist killings" some time back, although the vast majority of those were done by white supremacists...their motives aren't really anything to do with white supremacy. There's a handful that were.

This prompted a display of outrage from the left to label these incidents as domestic terrorism. The idea being that it was a growing problem best dealt with at the federal level.

So I believe the double standard here is the reluctance to label any violence from left wing extremists as domestic terrorists.
