• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

You are greatly loved by the Lord Jesus Christ; He was moved by his inner compassion to die for your sins since before the world began and He continues to love you to this day. Have you ever heard of Neil Anderson's ministry, Freedom in Christ. Here is a free book. i wonder if it would help at all, based on the Bible:

If you aren't already, you should get involved with your local church body. Being surrounded by Godly believers is encouraging and uplifting and it's very important in our walk to have good fellowship with believers around us. God knows this, that's why He made us apart of the church once we were saved.

Being more involved, will give you a reason to get out more and stop focusing so much on yourself and how you feel. When you are alone, use that time in spiritual productivity through much prayer, meditation and studying of the scriptures. Worship God and sing songs to Him, even when you don't feel like it. That helps to grow discipline instead of walking in emotion, which I find is much more freeing then just praising God when you want to. If you are sad or depressed, bring all your cares and worries at His feet. Jesus cares for you dear and wants to hear your worries, fears and sorrows.

Don't let the devil steal your joy. That's the one thing he'd love to take from us so that we begin to doubt our Holy and mighty God. Jesus loves you more than anyone else in this whole world. Trust in Him.

Hi sis unbelief and faith are always going to be a battle but do not despair as comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God *Romans 10:17. That is where our strength is. If we neglect God's Word we neglect our salvation (see John 8:31-36). Draw near to God and he will draw near to you *James 4:8. Seek him and he will be found of you (Matthew 6:33; Jeremiah 29:12-13; 1 John 5:4).

God bless

Personally I try to live my daily life taking note of the the Lord’s commandments in my conscience as I go. I am basically solitary and alongside my day job, I do janitorial work at our church. I usually make sure I find time for payer & a good walk most days. When I pray, I ask for the Lord’s mercy for my sins & for the salvation of my neighbor ( 1 Timothy 2:1) ( remembering not to judge in this sense per Matthew 7:1). Next, I recall the Lord’s commandments per Matthew 7:12 and Matthew 22:36-40, I recall the Lord telling us to pray for evangelism ( Matthew 9:36-38). I pray for the healing of those sick & injured, for protection of those in peril & conclude with the Lord’s Prayer ( Matthew 6:9-13). In general works, alongside faith ( Ephesians 2:8-10) , I try to remember charity ( Matthew 6:1-4).

Depression makes it hard to care. Talk to your doctor about taking an anti-depressant. Read your Bible every day. Particularly read the Psalms and the New Testament.

Having faith in Jesus Christ is not just thinking "I believe there is a God out there somewhere". To have faith in Jesus means to abandon yourself to him. To say "I can't make anything out of my life, please take you my life and make something out of it".
You see, faith in Jesus means to trust Jesus the full 100%. Like, when you are on a plane and it gets into heavy turbulences you have to trust the pilot that he is in control of the situation. When you put your trust in Jesus you fully trust him to be in control of your life! Having faith in Jesus means to believe that Jesus will bring you safely to the end, and nothing and nobody can prevent him from doing that. Let yourself fall - and wait that Jesus catches you. He knows you and he loves you, he will catch you. Are you willing to let go?

Making promises to God is a very dangerous thing. God doesn't need your promises and you don't have to earn his symphathy or affection by promising him certain things. While a broken promise towards God is very serious.
The Bible says in James 5:12 "But most of all, my brothers and sisters, never take an oath, by heaven or earth or anything else. Just say a simple yes or no, so that you will not sin and be condemned."
Trust in Jesus and learn to be guided by him. Stop making promises to God. You will have a much healthier relationship with Jesus when you treat him like a friend and not like someone who judges every small step of yours.
Jesus said in John 5:24 "Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life", and in Romans 5:1 we read
"since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ".
You have peace with God! He is not standing behind you saying "Oh, now she was disobedient again, she better makes a promise now to never do it again". No! When you do a mistake you ask God for forgiveness, and He will forgive you. That's it. No judgment, no promises needed. Next time you do the same mistake you ask God for forgiveness again. And when you start being embarassed for asking for forgiveness for the same thing over and over again you're ready to get to know the power of the Holy Spirit who enables you to actually stop doing that sin.
I can tell you from my experience that a friendship with Jesus is wonderful, but you have to abandon yourself completely to Him to experience it. :)
