A gun isn't going to help you very much against roofies, either.
Actually, most rapes are acts of opportunity rather than deliberation. Most rapists don't just go somewhere and grab a woman and rape her.
Not sure where you are going with this. Are you suggesting that women shouldn't shoot a rapist because they cannot confirm the person is going to rape them until they are penetrated where at that point it doesn't matter anymore because the deed has been done?Problem is, by the time the rapist has confirmed that he is, in fact, a rapist, he's already closed the gap between himself and his victim... as close as humanly possible, in fact.
And yet, eight out of ten rapists are known to the victim prior to the crime.Actually, most rapes are acts of opportunity rather than deliberation.

I don't remotely see how that follows. And yet, eight out of ten rapists are known to the victim prior to the crime.

I thought I'd addressed it but, ok, what was your point? That's because you ignored my original point.
The point is, it makes no sense for every college girl to carry a gun all the time to defend themselves against the rapists stalking their campus, because they are far more likely to be ambushed by a "friend" during a party when drunk, or pressured into doing things they don't want to because of blackmail.I thought I'd addressed it but, ok, what was your point?
Ok, I get that. NP. Thanks for clarifying. The point is, it makes no sense for every college girl to carry a gun all the time to defend themselves against the rapists stalking their campus, because they are far more likely to be ambushed by a "friend" during a party when drunk, or pressured into doing things they don't want to because of blackmail.
Children shooting children is, yes, a “Big Picture” item.
But if guns weren’t so readily available (largely due to the gun culture that pins all its freedoms and fears onto their right to own a gun), maybe some kids wouldn’t get, you know, shot?
Guns make murder easy. And if cars weren’t available people wouldn’t die in auto accidents and if water wasn’t available people wouldn’t drown. Murder has been around since the firstborn of Adam & Eve long before guns were ever even thought about. Removing a particular weapon of choice doesn’t remove murder at all.
Guns make murder easy.
Maybe we should look for ways that makes doing murder “less easy”?

It doesn't remove murder; it does remove murders. And if cars weren’t available people wouldn’t die in auto accidents and if water wasn’t available people wouldn’t drown.
