A little more than 1/8 of the American population is responsible for 1/2 the murders. Theses murderers are African Americans.

Remember northern states did not keep slaves. According to FBI statistics blacks are killing whites at a higher rate than whites are killing blacks. I would not blame the police for all these problems. There are police in jail, but most are not killers.
Murder always seem to track with poverty. I think this is regardless of "race" at least somewhat. Rich white people murders are more rare and more likely to merit an HBO mini series.

I am not sure. I know Asian Americans are few in number, but are productive members of society with a low homicide rate. Some Japanese Americans were herded into prison camps during WWII, but they seemed to have gotten over it.

I think murder is more linked to anger than wealth. Murder is more common in urban housing projects overrun by outlaw gangs. This might support a theory the poor are more likely to kill each other and others.

Poverty seems to be linked in part to high fertility rates. A woman having six children is more likely to be poor than women having one or two children.

Christians may overcome prejudice and injustice to produce, but persecution has not come to an end.

60% of America is white. 13.5% is black. They may not want to buy into the new Black Panther revival. Can you blame them? Some of them have been abused by black power activists.

Prepare for a brave new world.

In California no single race has a majority. The Hispanics have the most people. Some of these are not old enough to vote. LA and Long Beach have Hispanic mayors.

Some Central American and Caribbean nations have some of the highest fertility rates in the hemisphere. They are also among the poorest. More people does not always mean wealthier. It is difficult to feed, clothe and educate six children.

That would be largely people who self identified as Democratic Party Members.
But ... who would identify as Trump-supporting Republicans NOW.

Surely you would agree that the party of "Jim Crow" ... is not really the same party that elected "Barack Obama". They just happen to share the same name.

In the context of this thread, ... the Democratic Party has become much more "woke"....

Maybe just to emphasize the complex mix in California, Mayor Garcetti's great-grandfather emigrated from Italy to Mexico and married a local woman. His son (Eric's grandfather) came to America and married an American citizen of Mexican descent. The mayor's other grandparents were Jews that emigrated from Russia. So he's a Russian-Mexican-Italian-Jewish American. Or something like that.

Do you have a source for this statistic? Can you show where it says that African Americans are responsible for 1/2 the murders?

Northerners did indeed keep slaves, including George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. George Washington first became a slave owner at the early age of eleven. ... In addition, Washington was willed ten slaves. As a young adult, Washington purchased at least eight more slaves, including a carpenter named Kitt. Washington purchased more enslaved people in 1755, including four men, two women, and a child. Jefferson acquired most of the over six hundred people he owned during his life through the natural increase of enslaved families. He acquired approximately 175 enslaved people through inheritance: about 40 from the estate of his father, Peter Jefferson, in 1764, and 135 from his father-in-law, John Wayles, in 1774.

Both parties have latched onto it, just in different ways.

Many democrats have latched onto the concepts (they don't call it "woke" though, obviously) in order to score brownie points with a specific section of the electorate.

...as where, Republicans have used it as a pejorative.

When Elizabeth Warren makes statements like:
I’m going to have a secretary of education that this trans person interviews on my behalf. And if only if this person believes our secretary, or secretary of education, nominee is committed to creating a welcoming environment, a safe environment and a full educational curriculum for everyone, that person will actually be advanced to be secretary of education.

That's capitalizing on "woke" culture for votes just as much as the GOP tries to capitalize on it...just from the opposite direction.

Like with many hot-button issues... one team's pejorative is another team's "badge of honor"

It should be noted however...that it's not the GOP that sees some issues with it.

Murder always seem to track with poverty.

If that is accurate - Can you explain the Depression era please - 33% unemployment, the dustbowl, extreme poverty, no gun registration, no gun control and you could purchase a fully automatic weapon with no restrictions, - and yet the murder rate did not rise exponentially.

I am hoping that the Trump faction retains hold of the Republican Party for a long time - it will ensure their failure as long as they remain that way.

The GOP has always been MUCH BETTER with gerrymandering and voter disenfranchisement resulting in outsized power based on representing fewer Americans. I wouldn't count them out just yet. They are quite astute at playing the game.

Are you referring to the phrase Jim Crow 2.0 that Joe said numerous times and earned him four Pinocchio's. IOW it is inaccurate at best and a blatant lie at worse. That Jim Crow 2.0

No I was referring to the numerous Republican states enacting restricted voting laws intended to disenfranchise black voters.

Last time I looked there were an equal number of voting hours for whites and blacks. With more white voters than black, wouldn't this disenfranchise more white voters than black?

I dont think murder rates have ever risen exponentially in the US.
