One of the world's largest insects is difficult to spot. Weighing 30 grams (1.1 ounces), the female giant wood moth is the heaviest moth on Earth. It's also notoriously elusive, so construction workers were delighted when the critter made a rare appearance at a build site in Australia, The Guardian reports.

Workers noticed the giant wood moth while building new classrooms for Queensland's Mount Cotton state school. The property is adjacent to a rainforest, and it's hosted several iconic animals including snakes, koalas, and wallabies. But even at this school, a giant wood moth sighting is unprecedented. The builders compared the moth's size to that of a rat. Female wood moths can grow up to 15 centimeters (almost 6 inches) long, with wingspans stretching 25 centimeters (nearly 10 inches) across.

They have been known to carry off dogs and small children. Just another example of the dangerous and deadly wildlife of Australia.

We caught on that size before actually we thought it was a large bat at the time.

@Michie, how on earth do you do it? You carry the OBOB forum almost single handedly, and this forum and there are at 3 or 4 other forums besides these that I ran into that its just you posting topics. Almost all by yourself (its seriousy 99% YOU starting a thread) may I ask if this an occupation for you? ^_^

Can I put in an application?

I noticed that yesterday, I thought, wow, you can just scroll for miles (page after page) on various forums and its just you posting topics and pretty much carrying these forums, whether these things geniunely interest you or you want to inspire some kind of interest (or traffic) I dont know, but you are a pretty busy camper.

I read a lot. I often reserve things in my mind that I am interested in and hoping to spur interest in others. I’d like to see the board move onto more productive and edifying things than it has been on the past few years. I deal on art and antiques so I can set my own hours most of the time. I just post from my phone when I have spare time to post what I’ve recently read. Politics, ideologies, etc. have been done to several deaths. I hope you are enjoying the info regardless. :) My purpose now is to keep up on the issues within my Church and other topics where we may find common ground and fellowship in other forums.
