Like I said. Deficits are good if you agree with the use of the money.

Was it a good idea to give a tax break that preferentially helped the ultrawealthy and left a gap in revenues meaning we had to grow our deficit? Seems to me that that didn't actually help the country (just a few really rich people). As opposed to running a deficit in order to keep up infrastructure and invest in more Americans.

So are you saying that you would support programs to provide money for infrastructure, families and jobs? Or just infrastructure?
I support supporting families by buying stuff.

Let me rephrase the question. Can you describe the unity you want to see?
I’m not the one who called for unity. Biden did. So I’d like to see him do something unifying.

I support supporting families by buying stuff.

That is admirable but it doesn't really help the poor per se. Unless you only support businesses that give a portion of their proceeds to the poor.

Buying stuff and keeping our economy going is a good thing (obviously) and a "rising tide..." and all that, but the need is greater than what one covers by simply buying stuff.

(It certainly helps JOBS by buying stuff, tho'!)

What need is there that’s not already being addressed?

Me too. I'm glad he's started by not simply demonizing the GOP (the last guy spent 4 years demonizing the Left and that was hardly unifying in the least). At least we have a shot at a more inclusive society when the leader of the free world isn't busy calling the opposition nasty school yard names.

America has regions where poverty and food scarcity are massive problems. Such as in West Virginia (as just ONE of many examples). But across the board the US has far more people who go to bed hungry than is proper for a first world country let alone the most wealthy country to ever exist on the planet.

America has a very scary high poverty rate:

Can you describe anything unifying that you'd like to see him do? Anything at all? Can you give a single example of something he could do that would satisfy you?

Not saying mean things isn’t really progress.

Again, he is the one who called for unity. So anything that might bring unity would suffice.

It would certainly be a good way to start. But I agree with you that it isn't really the end state. But it helps engender unity when one side isn't calling the other names.

If you won't articulate what you're looking for or give one example, I'm just going to assume that you're being disingenuous and disregard everything else you have to say.

So we wait. I’m sure he’ll have McConnell over soon to discuss compromise on the infrastructure bill so that he can get bilateral support.

You never know! McConnell already promised his base he's 100% dedicated to stopping the Biden administration. So maybe ONE side will reach out for unity...because we obviously can't count on the Senate Republicans for that.
