Galatians 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me:
and the life that I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

So what does it mean to be crucified with Christ?

It means that we also must die to our old selves. That requires self reflection. Rather than responding to life out of our old selfish, self centered, egoistic impulses, we do that hard wok of putting the brakes on and changing to a more other centered, loving response. So many opportunities exist in our daily lives to make these sacrifices. Even here on this very forum. We have opportunity to respond with love, patience, kindness and generosity rather than out of our own defensiveness, anger, frustration and self asserting instincts.

The crucified life is altogether spiritual, spiritual perfection described in Philippians 3:12. by Paul.
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
Philippians 2:5,
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 2:6 - 11

Christ died on the cross, so that all could be one with him.
The crucified life is to press on, no matter what the cost, to spiritual perfection.

Romans 6:6
For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be rendered powerless, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.

Our flesh has been crucified with Christ.

Our flesh is everything that has caused misery and suffering throughout human history.

Our flesh is the core of our nature, it's all about me.

Living in the Spirit is all about everyone else, it is love above all.

So true, I pray for a deeper Christian experience. I am absolutely committed to following after Christ Jesus.

Sharing thoughts is so encouraging, I enjoyed reading your post. This is my latest study.
I love the dog, is he yours? :)
Thanks. Her name is Ruby. getting old.

Scripture is helpful but I find I have to express things in my own words also. Like reading is one thing, but do we actually do it. We usually pray that crosses be taken from us. It is pretty hard to welcome them.

Hello, if I might venture to say, it means that we really and truly have died when Christ died... That by faith we take our place with Him in His death.. And by taking or reckoning ourselves dead to sin and alive unto God will we find ourselves walking in this newness of life scripture speaks of.. Or as this verse puts this truth, Christ living His life through us..

Be blessed in your hunger and thirst after Jesus..

A fellow follower of His, Not me

I do not think it unwise to align another verse with Gal 2:20,

"For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, ,"

(1 Peter 3:18)

So what does it mean to be crucified with Christ?
First, His burden is light.
Second, our daily lives walk to the tune of a different Drummer.
Third, from the first glimmers of faith in and by Jesus to the strength He sends to conquer,

, , we ultimately drag this 'body of death' along with much patience to heed the God of love!
