Since some of the money allocated to the wall were diverted from our military burdget, I am thrilled that the money has been returned to its original department.
Immigrants represent a negliglble threat compared to other threats we face in the world--particularly cyber attacks, primarily from Russia but also from a few other ountries, and domestic terrorism, which Homeland Security says is our greatest terrorism threat.
The wall has been shown to be a pretty ineffective way to prevent immigration. Many immigrants come through our airports, flying in on tourist visas, and outstay their visas, hiding under the radar. Certainly terrorists from the middle east would be most likely to fly in and overstay their visas--yet nothing was ever done to prevent that.
I personally know several Central Americans who used the "overstay your Visa" route--and all are on a path to citizenship. One family moved to a small town, and when they were eventually apprehended by ICE, a huge contingent from the town went to court in Memphis with them, saying how much they were loved and valued and what an asset they were to their community.
The other man, who is now a teacher, brought in his teenage brother. At a basketball game his young brother introduced him to his teacher. Love at first sight, been married for years with a child. And the teen brother? He's an assistant principal.
