If you have particular blessings you want, God will always deny those. ...
May I respond to your original post, Brother? Be careful with using the word “ALWAYS,” because that is hard to support. Many Christians do not have the same experience. God will not change for you, it is the other way around. When we see things through God’s point of view as explained in the scriptures, our lives are better even when we are going through a trial. You have a long way to go, man, because your worldview is totally opposite of what the Bible teaches. I will pray for you that somehow your eyes and mind will be opened.

If you have particular blessings you want, God will always deny those. But if you don’t care about other blessings, God will drown you in them. Why does God selectively deny the blessings that would mean a great deal to you, while at the same time pouring an ocean of meaningless (to you) blessings on you?

Who is the parent here and who is the child? Does a child know what best for them, more so than a parent who loves them and always has their best interests at heart?

Then God spray herbicide on the seed

Not according to the Bible...

"“Listen! A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground where they did not have much soil. They sprang up quickly because the soil was not deep. But when the sun came up, they were scorched, and because they did not have sufficient root, they withered. Other seeds fell among the thorns, and they grew up and choked them. But other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundred times as much, some sixty, and some thirty. The one who has ears had better listen!” Matthew 13:3b-9

Just as Jesus told the rich man to give away his wealth and follow Him.

Sometimes God doesnt allow us to keep that which we have made an idol of. Idols can be wealth, comfort, power, prestige, objects, animals... even our own spouse.

IF you feel God is ignoring your prayers, try to focus more on Him than that prayer you wish He would grant you.

We are to love the giver, more than the gift. A parent delights in giving their child good things, but if that child values the gift more than the parent, the parent is likely to withhold that gift until the child can love the giver, more than the gift.

And a good farmer would have paid attention to where the seeds fell(path), plowed the rocky ground, removed the weeds and thorns, and gotten 1000 fold what he planted.

It seems that your specific grievance is due to unhealed illness, specifically of your wife's. I found an article that specifically deals on that issue, and I hope this could help.

Throughout the Bible, we are constantly reminded that this life isn't all there is: Everything in this world will pass away, but God's word endures forever (1 Peter 24-35; 1 John 2:16-17). We are of God's Kingdom, and His Kingdom is not of this present world (John 17:16; John 18:35), and He has promised to prepare a place for us in His father's house, where the joy and glory we will receive shall outweigh all our present suffering (John 14: 2-3; Romans 8:18).

Questioning Brother said:
Yet he lost what was most important: his kids. New ones would not have replaced the ones killed. At that point, Job’s wife would not have had to say to me, “curse God and die.” Pain will not drive Me to him for anything but relief. It will not increase love, trust, or anything like that.

He has not lost them, though, at least not permanently. That is why, at the end of his story, Job regained everything he had lost twice-fold, except for children, which he gets in the same number as he originally had (seven sons and three daughters). Commentators have remarked that this is an assurance that he will eventually reunite with the children he lost, and with the ten children he had after God restored him, he will then have twice as many children as he did before. Job himself clearly believe in the resurrection of the dead, or at least have some idea of the afterlife (Job 19:25–27), and 1 Corinthians 15 assures us that we do not need to fear or lose hope over sickness and death:

52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”

55 “Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”

56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

Now, I understand that it's difficult to see a loved one suffer in illness, and I hope your wife could recover. But no matter what happens, you can be sure that, in Christ, she will one day be raised more beautiful and perfect than she ever has been. That is what God had promised.

He doesn’t own enough to cover it. He has nothing I want more than her back at my side. There is no joy or glory without that.

God had declared: "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me" (Matthew 28:18), and He promised that all things will be healed, restored and made new, and there will be a time where "there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away" (Revelations 21:4). In the new heavens and the new earth, every suffering, loss and heartbreak will be undone, replaced by joy. Those who had lived and died in Christ will be raised in glory, honour and power (1 Corinthians 15:42-45).

The question is, do we have faith/trust in God that he has the capacity to fulfill the promises He has made, and the patience to endure until that time comes? You don't have to have an unwavering uncertainty that leaves no room for doubt, nor a stoic perseverance that denies the pain/discomfort of waiting and ignore the hope/longing for something better. Indeed, the faith and patience to steadfastly hope in the Lord in spite of seemingly insurmountable odds is the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22) that can't be produced by human efforts alone. These fruit comes from grace given by the Spirit to those who ask, just as the father of a demon-possessed son plead of Jesus, "I believe, help my unbelief!" (Mark 9:24)

Now I don't know why God chose to wait for so long before restoring the creation; or why He chose to grant supernatural healing to some, and not to others. But the Bible tells us that it's not because God is playing favourites (Romans 2:11, Ephesians 6:9, Colossians 3:25).

I will pray for you and your wife, @Questioning Brother.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. (Romans 15:13)

Job didn't "lose" his kids.

Lol i find this a bit amusing and true. I always wanted to be married and have a husband but instead i have 2 lovely kids. I was never over the moon about kids-- if i had them ok..if not..ok lol but i love them to death.

I have no real answer to your question idk maybe so we dont make an idol out of what we truly desire.

You say that like it’s certain He’s going to deny you.
I’ve asked for God for something i really wanted a year ago, and sure enough God gave it to me. I was beyond happy, thrilled and euphoric and couldn’t stop praising Him. Also a year ago I entered a weird mental state, and my greatest desire of all was for it to stopped. I begged God and He didn’t do it. I wondered why He let me live in such torture. However I didn’t leave God, I kept the Faith that He was with me and nothing else mattered, and slowly but surely He helped me get it under control. God knows you better than you know yourself and He sees things you can’t. Everything God does is for the better.

Wow praise God thats so awesome.

I don't know, but I only got what I wanted when I gave up trying to achieve it, I think it has something to do with not asking for your earthly desires to be met, and asking God to take your life and do what HE wants to do with it, we must remember he's in charge not us.
I heavily agree with this.

Hmm, let’s see not bed bound, Not fed through a stomach tube, able to speak clearly, able to be out of the nursing home and be with her family.... I am pretty sure that is what she wants. As fo what she is praying for, that is between her and God.

If you don't mind sharing a bit more, what's your wife's condition like? I'd like to pray for her as well, and that's the least I can do, being in a different country.

I've said what I can about why I believe God acts the way He does, but I suppose that when you're in grief, any words of consolation that seems to downplay the pain would just ring hollow.

Rather than advice or answers to "why" or "why not", a comforting presence seems more appropriate. And I hope that God will also send others around you to give you a more tangible support throughout this season of waiting.

The post you quoted pretty much sums things up. A stroke, so paralyzed on one side, also mentally losing ground.

I also despise being comforted.
