Surely this is sedition?

Expressing a desire to carry out potentially seditious acts is not sedition from my understanding.

On the other hand, if one follows through and acts on those desires.....

After former President Donald Trump tweeted that his supporters should travel to Washington, D.C., on January 6 for a rally that “will be wild!,” Kelly Meggs, a member of the Oath Keepers, wrote on Facebook: “He wants us to make it WILD that’s what he’s saying. He called us all to the Capitol and wants us to make it wild!!! Sir Yes Sir!!! Gentlemen we are heading to DC pack your s***!!”

In a series of messages, Meggs went on to make plans with another individual for an attack on the process of counting the electoral votes. On December 25, Meggs told his correspondent that “Trumps staying in, he’s Gonna use the emergency broadcast system on cell phones to broadcast to the American people. Then he will claim the insurrection act…. Then wait for the 6th when we are all in DC to insurrection.

If each ballot takes 5 seconds to audit, then doing it one at a time would take 2917 hours, or 8 hr/day 5 days/wk for about a year-and-a-half.

For one person....

2917/3000 people = less than an hour to perform.

Hmm ... after four years of impeach, impeach, impeach ...

... claims of sedition kinda have a hollow ring.

Impeachment is a legal procedure. Deliberately attempting to invalidate votes in order to change the result of an election isn't.

The nearly 2.1 million ballots cast in Maricopa County, Ariz., last fall are currently packaged in 40 cardboard shrink-wrapped boxes and stacked on 45 pallets in a county facility in Phoenix known as “the vault,” due to its sophisticated security and special fire-suppression system.

But on order of the Republican-led state Senate, the ballots and the county’s voting equipment are scheduled to be trucked away next week — handed over for a new recount and audit spurred by unsubstantiated claims that fraud or errors tainted President Biden’s win in Arizona’s largest county.

The recount has sparked an internecine fight among state Republicans, with the GOP-led Maricopa County Board of Supervisors refusing to assist the effort, saying multiple past reviews have already demonstrated the election was run properly.

Maricopa County’s results were upheld through a number of reviews, including a hand recount of a sample of ballots conducted jointly by both political parties, as well as a forensic audit conducted by federally accredited labs that was ordered by the county and concluded in February. The county elections department said the result of the multiple tests confirmed that the county’s elections equipment “provided an accurate counting of ballots and reporting of election results.”

This week, the Senate announced it will rent the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum, the former home of the Phoenix Suns, to host the recount.

The company running the effort is Cyber Ninjas, a Sarasota, Fla.-based cybersecurity firm, which is leading a trio of other companies. The firm has not cited previous work involving elections and is not federally accredited by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission to test voting systems.

After the firm’s selection, Arizona news organizations reported that the company’s chief executive, Doug Logan, posted now-deleted tweets endorsing theories that the November vote was marred by fraud.

Logan also confirmed to the Arizona Mirror that he wrote a document titled “Election Fraud Facts & Details” that is posted on the website of conservative attorney Sidney Powell, [which] echoes debunked claims about connections between Venezuela and Dominion Voting Systems

Spiffy. After a count, and a recount, and checking by authorized election monitors, they're going to cart the ballots off to the stadium for a Kraken pal to play with. I'm glad the county election officials have washed their hands of this kangaroo count.

Ninja's to the rescue!

All of these shenanigans in a state that has conducted model vote by mail elections for over 3 decades.

I'm sure the work'll go a lot quicker if they just toss the ones from blue counties.

It’s also unclear how much access media and other independent observers will have to the audit. Reporters will be prohibited from using pens and paper and will have to sign up to serve as official observers, a spokesman for the audit told an Arizona Mirror reporter on Wednesday. The Arizona Republican party also tweeted that the process will be live-streamed and that observers from One America News Network, the far fight outlet, would ensure nonpartisan “transparency”.

How can even AZ Republicans says that with a straight face?

There is also concern the audit could lead to voter intimidation. In its statement of work, Cyber Ninjas wrote it had already performed “non-partisan canvassing” in Arizona after the 2020 election and knocked on voters’ doors to “confirm if valid voters actually lived at the stated address”. The company said it would continue that work during the audit “to validate that individuals that show as having voted in the 2020 general election match those individuals who believe they have cast a vote”.

Republicans who control the Arizona Senate announced Thursday they now intend to do a complete recount of 2.1 million ballots in the state's most populous county to ensure that President Joe Biden's November win was legitimate.

Senate President Karen Fann had been pushing for a "full forensic audit" of Maricopa County's election result and won a court order on Feb. 26 granting the Senate access to the ballots and tabulation machines. But she had never acknowledged until this week that she wanted a full recount, something state law doesn't allow [except] in narrow circumstances.

Fann's announcement said she now intends to do a full-hand recount of the ballots in addition to testing the tabulation machines and rescanning all the ballots. She said she hopes to do the work at county buildings to ensure ballot security.

But county spokesman Fields Moseley said the county hasn't had any recent discussions about allowing the Senate to use its facilities for its new audit. Early this month, Board Chair Jack Sellers sent a letter to Fann and other GOP senators asking where she wanted the ballots delivered. The Senate said it had no room for them and hoped to use county facilities.

A full hand-recount will be challenging because it will require scores of people and observers if Fann is to end up with a trusted product.

My guess is they'll find some cheap manual labor to do the counting.

How else?

Where did you get this idea from the OP?

I'd swear it looks like thet intend to make sure all ballots are counted correctly and valid.

Isn't that a good thing? I think it could go far in reducing the number of election conspiracy theories.

Why are we still doing this, Arizona? The election ended four months ago. Time to get with the times...
Ringo

I don't expect Arizona will stop complaining about Biden unless 1 of 2 things happens...

1. Biden actually does something about the border crisis. Apparently it's lost on those not living near the border that the Biden's approach to illegal immigration (or lack of any plan whatsoever) has resulted in a massive increase in the number of illegals literally roaming the streets of southern Arizona.

Why The U.S. Government Is Dropping Off Migrants In Rural Arizona Towns

Now, as cruel as it seems....that is the Biden administrations plan. The right wanted people detained and sent to court or kept from entering illegally entirely. The left ran on the idea that people should be given a court date....and let go. Detention centers are full and there's covid after all.

The first and most obvious problem of letting them go is they often don't really understand how far away the place they want to go....like Boston or Florida....actually is. They also don't understand the cost of getting there. From what I understand, they actually believe that the Biden administration will transport them.

The cost of transportation for all these people far exceeds the paltry sum required for a better wall. Imagine the cost of "humanitarian" care for let's say 100 people who are going to travel for 3 days by bus.....the meals, hotel rooms for sleeping and showering, and let's not forget about those toothbrushes that are so important.

Then there's the cost of the transport vehicles themselves and their fuel , a minimum level of security to protect them and protect people from them, a minimum level of medical staff etc. The result has to be in the upper thousands or ten thousands per person.

You may think "well we should do that....after all, the number of people who can pay their own way has to be bigger". You're probably right...there's probably more people who have a means of transportation to their destination.

Once the government starts offering them free rides though.....they will all start taking that option. Why wouldn't they? It's a free ride.

So Biden's only strategy is to dump them onto these southern towns and pretend the problem doesn't exist. He put Harris in charge....and she openly admits she doesn't plan to go down there. I'm sure if you criticize her for it....you'll be called a xenophobic bigot, racist, or misogynist....whatever gets more traction these days.

2. The border crisis just ends....on it's own.

#2 seems unlikely since it would require something like a civil war in Mexico or a meteor hitting the US and wiping it out. These people are fleeing failed nations. The nations have failed for a variety of reasons....but a lot of the illegal immigrants from new places in Central America and South America or the Gulf or Caribbean are showing up because of...covid.

Covid devastated small business here in the US....but some of those were businesses we could prop up. We still have big business and large industries that keep the economy afloat. Barely.

Imagine you're from a place where most businesses.....like +90% are small family owned businesses. Imagine that your government has no way to prop them up. Your best option is to flee to somewhere wealthier.

In summary, the problem won't disappear, Biden has no plan to deal with it (generally speaking, I don't see any plans on the left for dealing with crime that doesn't involve legalizing it) and as a result....these southern border states will suffer. The problems they have will become the problems the nation has....just more slowly if you live in Delaware.
