It's not the color of our skin that's being criticized - it's the sense of entitlement and superiority that some believe goes along with that that's the problem.

And the major word here is SOME. Not criticizing what you said but it does help me make my point from my last post. Too many people don't see the word SOME (and as you can see from my last post, I too generalize). We all need to get to know one another better so we can work together better. We don't have to agree with one another 100% but at least we know where each other is coming from. And no matter how smart we are, God is in control so don't think this will happen or that will happen because that is what our leaders tells us. God will decide what happens so in the meantime lets put down our smart phones and lets get to know one another better. And for those who don't want to get to know others, lets not call them names, lets subtly get to know them and make peace with them and God-willing they will feel a part of the whole community.

No white backlash, that's for sure. But it may do something to dent the phony reputation that BLM has gotten in many quarters and cultivated on its own of being a basically peaceful, reformist, organization.

That's what happens when any militant organization WINS the day (a la George Floyd verdict) and STILL goes out rioting and talking as though there never is justice, etc.
I don’t believe there were riots.

I don’t believe there were riots.
There weren't and it makes the right-wing angry because they wanted a not guilty verdict. They wanted a not guilty verdict because they wanted there to be riots so they can say, "See? They're coming for you!" With a guilty verdict, this knocks the wind out of their sails. Nonetheless, they will still argue they're coming for you, but this time they duplicitously argue that they would have come for you.

I've done extensive research on African American culture, but it hasn't proven very useful in conversations here. The only one who has profited by it is...me.

By doing what you do in learning about African American culture, your wisdom is coming through in your post and is very much appreciated by many of those who read them. God bless.

Color often identifies culture, and vice versa.
This may be an extremely naive remark....but does it have to? In the United States.....where it's supposed to be "justice for ALL"?

I grew up in the Silicon Valley (at its "birth") and remember the first time I even heard the term "chain of command". I was being reprimanded by a supervisor (maybe the only time - which makes it more memorable) for "going over her head" for a grievance. I was used to managers....CEOs that stated (and lived out) an "open door policy" to hear everyone's concerns. The idea of a hierarchy was honestly foreign to me. I'm used to diversity and equality....and I realize that in itself is a privilege many never experience.

Absolutely! That brings up the other part of the issue - the generalizing and stereotyping that people do.

And I will be certainly working on my generalizing. God bless you.:amen:

I think it is the rioters that are disappointed. Anyway they've already had their day over the George Floyd case.

Do you agree with their response to it?

I don't think I would recognize a direct general widespread response. However, if things get worse for blacks in the near term in several important metrics then I would likely think that many whites have distanced themselves further from the black community.

Why would people be expected to continue putting up with riots, killings, looting, arson, assaults on police, assaults on people simply trying to have dinner, and other crimes without trying to find some legal means to limit these activities? Some groups seem to think they have a license to do anything they wish and justify it with false narratives.

...and worst of all, to not direct it at the Capitol like true patriots.

Really it's white republican conservatives who are seen as the problem, even by whites who are liberals/wokes. So it's actually more of a social/political issue than a race issue. Add Christian (mostly fundamental evangelical) to white republican conservative, and there's an even greater perceived problem/threat.

The verbal attack on the diners in N.Y.C. by BLM matter was particularly disturbing.

I was with you until you threw in the current buzzword du jour at the end there.

Are the white police officers that shoot black children being demonised?

Are there records cataloguing white children being shot by black police officers?

What does 'demonised' mean in this context? (No dictionary definitions thank you; we all know what it means in general!)
