Is there any one thing that God can give to every one of us?

Is there anything that we know for sure that God will give us if we ask or seek knock for it?

Matthew 7:7 says:
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

What does this mean? If we all asked for great wealth would even God be able to give this to all of us? I believe He could certainly deposit a million pounds/dollars into each of our bank accounts if He wanted to so that we'd all become millionaires but would we be rich? My knowledge of economics is sketchy but I think if this happened the price of a load of bread would suddenly jump to about a £1,000 and we'd be no better off in real terms.

Similarly, if we all prayed to meet the right person and get married, is this possible? There are slightly more women than men in the world so how can it be? (Conveniently leaving the subject of same-sex marriage aside for now!)

So I was wondering if more "mental" things were possible. If we all prayed for inner peace for example, could that be granted? At first I thought 'yes' but when I thought of people with severe anxiety, OCD and PTSD and things like that, I'm not so sure. And how about those in chronic physical pain? Btw I'm not arguing that peace isn't possible for people suffering these afflictions, I'm just asking whether it is.

To try to keep this relatively brief, here are a few things I thought it was possible that God can give us all without exception:

The certainty that we are loved unconditionally.

The knowledge that we are forgiven of any wrong we may have done if we sincerely repent.

The sense that we can trust God to always be working towards good in our lives and to make good use of anything good that we do.

The feeling that we are never apart from Him, that He wants a real realtionship with us, one with ongoing communication as with any human relationship.

Does anyone have any comments or observation, or have more examples of things we can pray for with complete assurance that God is able and willing to give us? And if God does give us something, do we have to do anything ourselves in order to receive it?

knowledge of the Truth ...

Yes, that's a big one. I think everyone is capable of knowing truth in their own way (children will think of it differently than adults for example) and it's obviously very important to feel a connection with what is true.

Hello, hmm!

You ask a great question about Matthew 7:7 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

Contextually:
Jesus Christ is specifically speaking to His disciples, in which at the end of speaking to them on top of a mountain (people which were astonished by His teaching) -> After Him and His disciples came down ; great multitudes started again following Him.

Now what does Matthew 7:7 mean for us today spiritually?

Maybe you have a different take @Hmm!, but here is mine in my best estimation.

The disciples back then seem to have been told to go heal the sick, heal those who were disabled, to cast out demons. And Jesus Christ is telling them that anything they ask for will be provided to take care of the needs of whatever it is going on.

For us today? We can ask for help spiritually ; the need for Comfort during anxiety, prayer to help over temptations that may come unto us that we as human beings may befall into, the need to understand that you are loved (Scriptures confirm God's love for us).

As believers people are given the holy spirit ( which we can ask for help in our understanding when reading the bible - and also confirming different aspects of historical periods), asking for spiritual understanding and how do we apply things in scriptures to our life today (if they are applicable for us today at all).

A person who is seeking the truth, can ask God for help to seeing the truth, of course as believer we know that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life.

(Noticed you wrote about mental illness and pain -> My only note on this is believe that some things God can help overcome but sometimes people do need insulin shots, and their medicines to be took care of - blood pressure and things like that)

These might be an indicator of a need lifestyle change : eating habits; A break through for those who have mental problems (God knows that these people have been damaged and torn in some way that has them lose their abilities to act right) It is sad, and these things are in God's hands when it comes to the end of life, we are all going to die.

The only solution to any of these things is to know is to ask to know Gods will, ask to understand things spiritually, and ask to have and understand wisdom, by and through faith on the Lord Jesus Christ.

What are your thoughts on these things?

He can give us all:
a) various truths and information, more wisdom
b) self-development, personality growth, better character
c) forgiveness of sins, eternal life

Once we surrender to Jesus (the first time) and get Saved, we are commissioned. Every prayer promise like that in the OP has an expectation that we are walking in that commission.

Jesus said,
"If you abide in Me,
and My words abide in you,
you will ask what you desire,
and it shall be done for you." John 15:7 NKJV

If we sincerely and perhaps persistently want and ask for something good, especially something that advances His kingdom in us and our world, He’ll grant it. A desire for wisdom, as per Solomon, and a desire for the virtues: faith, hope, and love are examples. A quest for humility, purity, understanding shouldn’t be denied. JMO

I think that sums it up and it's a very encouraging thought. Some people have found a peaceful centre in themselves through their faith even when suffering constant pain for example.

A unique and personal gift and nature that makes us perfectly compatible to His body.
That we might be fully acceptable in the Beloved. I pray the scriptures for all believers.
Here is one I pray regularly with a name, or for everyone on the forum.
"May you stand perfect and complete in all The Will of God".
Colossians 4:12
Find that and abide in Him.
Ephesians 1:
3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every
spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
[our mutual faith makes us not only
unique but a part of that blessing in Christ that is received by others]

4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be
holy and without blame before Him in love,
5
having predestined us to the adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to
the good pleasure of His will,
6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

I only ask for help to be a better Christian. If I had cancer, I'd pray for that too. But right now I don't have any such needs. I figure the more help I get from to Holy Spirit to be more Christlike, the rest will be taken care of.

"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Matthew 6:33

Glad you mentioned Jesus was talking to the deciples in that scripture, and that he gave them specific things for a specific purpose.

There are many that think that scripture pertains to everyone, leaving a lot of people dissapointed, and doubtful of their walk with Christ.

And that is not to say God doesn't answer prayer, but only that he does not give us anything we ask for, so yeah, Id forget about that million bucks. :)

For Christian who already have the indwelling Holy Spirit, can be assured of "Wisdom" if they ask believing they will get it.

I'd be interested in how you'd explain what Wisdom is. My best to would be it's being able to see God in a certain situation and to know in a fairly clear way what He thinks of it and what He wants people to do.

This "wisdom" is spiritual and not concerning carnal things. For me it has been coming up with words and answers I could never develop on my own.
