Many modern prophecy teachers speak about a future 70th week of Daniel.

The following study should clear up much of the confusion over this teaching.

It may also help to correct many of those promoting forms of Hyper-Preterism which claim Christ returned during 70 AD.

---------------------------------------------------

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Paul said the Gospel went “to the Jew first”. When did this mission start, and how long did it last? The answer is found in the scripture below.

Matthew 10:5-7, Matthew 10:23 (See His first coming as Messiah below.) Acts of the Apostles 10:36-38, Galatians 1:14-18

Mat_16:28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
(In Acts of the Apostles 2:36 He was already both “Lord”(King) and “Christ”(Messiah) on the Day of Pentecost.)

Mat_21:5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.)

3 ½ years + Calvary to Pentecost + 3 years after Paul’s conversion = about ____ years

Dan 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

(Hebrews 10:16-18, the New Covenant is fulfilled, + Acts 10:38, God anointed His Son )

Dan 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

Dan 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

7 weeks of years + the 62 weeks of years = _____________ weeks of years

Was the Gospel taken "first" to Daniel’s people for a period of about seven years? _______

During which week of the 70 weeks was the Messiah killed? If I agree to paint your house “after” 69 weeks, during which week will your house be painted? ______________________

Paul said the Gospel was taken “first” to the Jews. After that time Paul began his mission to also take the Gospel to the Gentiles. (See Galatians 1:14-18)

The OT prophetic time table is as follow
  1. The Cross on the 69th week
  2. Tribulation for Israel on the 70th week
  3. Jesus returns for Israel at the end of the 70th week
  4. Rise of Israel in their promised Kingdom
  5. Gentiles saved thru the rise of Israel.

Yeah, the jews had the first chunk of human history to believe, as the group of folks God came to first, only then to be expanded to all folks. Many seem to disbelieve the Bible to favor a modern day zionist interpretation, which essentially seems to deny that the Gentiles were grafted into the living olive tree, the root of being Christ.

It does not say after threescore and two and a half weeks.

No one agrees to paint a house after a certain period time. People agree to have their house painted on a certain day.

Jesus arrived in Jerusalem riding the the donkey, hailed as the messiah, King of Israel who comes in the name of the Lord. John 12:12-15.

4 days later, Jesus was cutoff, crucified.

Since the weeks in Daniel 9 represent 7 years, the four days is negligible. The messiah arrived in Jerusalem, and was subsequently cutoff, but not for himself, essentially at the end of the 69 weeks of 7 years for each week.

Where in that verse is there anything about taking the gospel to the Jews first then to the gentiles?

Paul said the Gospel was taken “first” to the Jews. After that time Paul began his mission to also take the Gospel to the Gentiles. (See Galatians 1:14-18)

.

The mission to spread the Gospel started with Abraham and went first through His children and those of his household:

Galatians 3:8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.”

Genesis 18:19 For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.”

Exodus 33:13 Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.”

Acts 3:25-26 You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’ 26 To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.”

The Bible says He was cut off "after" the 69th week, which would be during the 70th week.

If I am going to start mowing my grass "after" this week, it will be mowed during the next week.

Dan 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

Why are you trying to change what is written in scripture?

You are talking about a 7 day week in your argument. Not a 7 year week. Would you let your grass grow for 7 years before mowing it?

You are making a bad argument. The 69 weeks are 69 - 7 year weeks. 483 years. Jesus arrived in Jerusalem as the messiah at the end of the 483 years, 4 days later was crucified.

The length of the messiah's ministry is not in Daniel 9. When Jesus was baptized by John, it was 18 miles at least from Jerusalem. And Jesus was coming from Galilee, not Jerusalem.

Matthew 3:13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

Some of us do not need to use a modification of normal math to get our doctrine to match what the Bible says.

If the Bible says the Messiah was cut off "after" the 69 weeks, we believe what it says.
End of story.

We do not need to add a "gap" of almost 2,000 years, not found in the text.

We do not need to add an "antichrist" that has no singular antecedent in the chapter.

We do not have to ignore the fact that the Messiah's death is tied to the New Covenant, as revealed by Hebrews 9:15.

It does not say He would be cut off "essentially at the end of the 69 weeks". Quit trying to change scripture. It says He would be cut off after the 69 weeks. What comes after 69? 70. That means He was cut off during the 70th week. Therefore, to try to say that the 70th week will begin in the future contradicts the fact that it says He was cut off after the 69th week. There is no indication anywhere to suggest any gap between any of the weeks, including between the 69th and 70th weeks.

It does not say He would be cut off "essentially at the end of the 69 weeks". Quit trying to change scripture. It says He would be cut off after the 69 weeks.
The text actually says after sixty and two weeks. Not 69 weeks. We get the 69 weeks by added in the 62 weeks to the 7 weeks.
What comes after 69? 70.
But we are not talking about normal weeks. 4 days in a normal week would be roughly half the week, a bit more. But 4 days when measured against 483 days is the 4 days is negligible.

To be in the middle of 7 weeks of years - would be 3 1/2 years.

Can't you see the difference between 4 days and 3 1/2 years?

Therefore, to try to say that the 70th week will begin in the future contradicts the fact that it says He was cut off after the 69th week. There is no indication anywhere to suggest any gap between any of the weeks, including between the 69th and 70th weeks.
The problem with that argument is that the vision and prophecy that Daniel and Gabriel referred to in Daniel 9:21-24 was concerning the little horn person and the stoppage of the daily sacrifice and the 2300 days and the little horn person standing up to the Prince of princes Jesus - time of the end.

You keep telling the same story found above, but you can not show us anyone either dead or alive who is willing to agree with you.

2Pe_1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

Is it your belief that every Bible scholar who ever lived has a reading problem?

I have been over that passage before with you pointing out, in context, the reference is to the prophets not giving their own thinking in what they were moved to prophesy, but acted as directed by the Holy Spirit.

69 x 7 = 483

I would agree 100% that the 69 weeks of years is actually 483 years, and the Messiah was cut off "after" that 483 year time period.

The decree was made in 559. So it was 559-483=76. 76 + 30 = 106. The Cross was 106 years give or take 2 years for error, after the 69 weeks.

If you want to take the year King Cyrus took over Babylon in 539, then around 86 years after.

No one seems to be willing to pin the decree on Cyrus. Ezra 6:3

3 In the first year of Cyrus the king the same Cyrus the king made a decree concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, Let the house be builded, the place where they offered sacrifices, and let the foundations thereof be strongly laid; the height thereof threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof threescore cubits;

4 days after that 483 years time period the messiah was cutoff.

Which leaves essentially the 7 year 70th week left. The covenant of the law of Moses (Daniel 9:11) to be confirmed for 7 years, by the prince who shall come, who will end up being the Antichrist.

Moses commanded all future leaders of Israel in Deuteronomy 31:9-13 on a 7 year basis, on the feast of tabernacles (a fall feast) to read the law he gave to them, from the place of God's choosing. i.e. the temple mount according to the Jews themselves. The muslims control religion activities on the temple mount - until Gog/Magog - the 7 years follow Gog/Magog (in Ezekiel 39, the infallible timeline framework for end times events).

Jesus arrived in Jerusalem, riding the donkey, hailed as the messiah, King of Israel, who comes in the name of the Lord, by his followers. 4 days later, cutoff, rejected as the King of Israel, by his own.

John 12:12 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

14 And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,

15 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.
_________________________________________________________________

John 5:43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

__________________________________________________________________

1John 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

CG, show on your show Ezekiel 39 events on your chart. The 7 months and the 7 years that follow the destruction of Gog's army. Daniel and Ezekiel both lived at around the same time, but in different locations. Some of the end times prophecies came through Daniel, others through Ezekiel. Both sets of prophecies must be considered.
